All Welcome
Ethos loved being in Blackfoot Forest, it seemed to be his mainly preferred home despite being anywhere really. The dark phantom was a traveller, but he loved Blackfoot Forest. It was dark and scary, like him, and he loved anything dark and scary. Ethos let out a small sigh as he plopped himself on the ground, examining the forest with his blue eyes. If anyone decided to come across him, Ethos would decide what to do.

He was quiet, but he wouldn't be...for now.

despite what had happened during her last extended excursion, mona had not tired of them. and so she set out early morning from bearclaw, intent on exploring in greater detail the places in the landscape she had not since arriving in the valley pack. the swathe of darkened forest was her first goal, and mona slipped triumphantly into its embrace without hesitation.
it was not without some degree of foolhardiness, the mayfair's lack of fear around mapping such places alone, but she did not consider that. mona moved through the shadows in a gait meant to allow her marveling a look. with upturned chin, it was only the girl's sense of smell that alerted her to a figure much too close; she drew up and pinned the shadows along the forest floor with a wary look, backing some steps but not yet frightened enough to flee.

To Ethos' surprise, and slight happiness, he had not been alone. He looked over to notice a female. She smelled of a pack, many wolves, but Ethos had no knowledge of what pack she may be in. To the phantom-like wolf, maybe it wouldn't hurt to display some fake concern. What was she doing here, in such a place? Who knew if there were other wolves who were dangerous, hiding here, waiting to pounce?

"So you've decided to appear in this place of darkness." Ethos said, staring at her with his icy blue eyes. "Don't you know the dangers here, and the fear those wailing animals cause? Don't you have a family that may need you?"

the man seemed to separate from the sprawl of shadows; mona felt her throat constrict with fear as his ice-blue eyes leveled themselves upon her. the creature spoke, his voice a roll of thunder; the firebrand narrowed her eyes despite her mortal trepidation. "it's just a forest!" she exclaimed defensively, her own tones low but firm. hazarding a glance around, the scout rolled her thin shoulders. "i'm just exploring."
why was he being so weird anyway?

At the young lady's response, Ethos lowered his fears. Heh, he wasn't actually concerned anyway. Why would he be anyway? Ethos only showed concern for those he actually cared about, like his family. And...he wouldn't be really getting a family any time soon. "Just exploring, very well." He said, his tone clearly unamused. "I'm like that too sometimes." Ethos then looked at a tree above him and climbed up on the branches, deciding to lay down on one, his limbs dangling like an Oriental Shorthair cat or a spider.

Ethos decided to look around. "Apparently I'm not the only one who displays no fear of this rather intriguing place."

she was not expecting the other's species'-defying feat; in spite of herself, mona watched as he arched onto the branch and hung across it like some oily sheen, studded with a pair of frost-limned sapphires. she backed some steps again, ears cupping up toward the beast. "why would i need to be frightened?" she inquired, blinking toward him with growing interest.

Why would she need to be frightened? Dear, this female had no idea who she was messing with, apparently a very naive creature. This only made her more vulnerable to being attacked by any kind of wolf, like Ethos especially. "Why would you need to be afraid?" He repeated, a smug and casual tone taking over. "You have no idea who you're messing with." A grim smile then appeared on the dark wolf's face, maybe in an effort to scare her, despite the murderous intention bubbling up within him, and he wanted to scare Mona by maybe attacking her. Ethos could not handle naive creatures, they only saw no reason to be afraid.

Mona would need to be afraid.

the man and his manic words began to grate on mona; his size bespoke wariness, but his language was that of a madman. and yet she was viscerally unafraid, only unsettled: he was in a tree and she firmly on the earth. and so the girl inched backward, and said nothing, until she felt confident enough to turn and dash for the safety of the shadows, and the glint of open land beyond the forest and its dark denzien. if he followed, mona was unsure of what it might come to, but for now, the mayfair fled.

Ethos watched as the young woman then fled, and he wondered if she was scared of him now. Feeling cunning, Ethos climbed back down the tree and began to slowly follow Mona's trail. If she chose to attack him for self-defense, boy, would this get nasty. Ethos wanted to maybe know more about her.

And if he could, maybe attack her, who knew? No one knew what Ethos was thinking, not even Ethos himself at the moment.

if he followed slowly, she did not know it. mona lunged at near breakneck speed between the stands of trees, leaping obstacles that cluttered her path. once she struck her small paw against the unyielding solidity of a broken branch and bit her lip as she came down into a limp; the girl pressed onward all the same, for soon she would be quit of this forest. light loomed brighter just ahead.

Ethos had watched as Mona struck her paw and went into a limp, and he kept on following her quietly, before choosing to then climb onto a tree, peeking down with his icy blue eyes. The black-furred wolf watched quietly. His ears twitched a little, and he had many thoughts soaring in his head. I need to know more about her. He thought. Maybe I can save the murder or maiming for later. A fake smile that looked real spread on Ethos' face and he climbed down the tree, starting to follow beside Mona.

"Where are you from?" He asked, before taking in the many scents mixed in with hers. A pack, obviously, but what pack?

last for me! she would just keep running <3

very fearful expression crossed mona's face as quite impossibly the man leapt into the trees and began to follow her, speaking conversationally. and so she gathered her last reserves of strength and bundled in an arrowlike manner from the forest. into the land beyond did mona shoot, and she did not pause until she was exhausted. even then the scout did not stop; mona would not until she had reached bearclaw's safety.
