All Welcome
meant to be a short thread; will archive in 2 days if this goes without response!

Here was the land Tonravik first claimed, taking it by force. There was no mistaking it, now—it had been ravaged and ruined by nature, Ikkalrok noted, as she moved along a portion of the territories circular spine. Stagnant water kept the territory captive; beneath her was a world once rampant with wildlife. Now, there was nothing.

Her interest in the territory had only been born of her curiosity of its advantages. But without any imagination to speak of, Ikkalrok only saw this place for what it presently was: a wasteland. Good, perhaps, only to push an enemy down into its yawning mouth; exhaustion, first, and then they would drown. There was no escape from this pit, its rocky walls a deadly trap.

What satisfaction was to be had in providing ones end in such a way? Ikkalrok could not see it. But death was death, and Ikkalrok did not much care for how it was accomplished when it needed to be done.

Ikkalrok turned away and began to descend; with nothing for them here, there was no need to survey the place any longer.

She departed the weald without word, as she often did. @Dirge knew by now that she would always return to their claim by sunset, though she supposed it wasn't in his nature to fret. Nyx had missed that about her brother throughout their long seperation: he didn't press, nor attempt to strip her of freedom. His laid-back nature was just enough to keep Nyx afloat these days, as she struggled through the overwhelming darkness of her mind brought on by a heavy burden.

Her cubs would be fast approaching their third month, had she not been so consumed by the frenzy that had ended their lives. She wondered daily how her one living son (could she even dub him "son" if she hadn't played the role of "mother"?) faired on the shore. Had he lived beyond his fragile first weeks at Caiaphas' breast? Was Lycaon surviving well enough as a single parent? Did their baby know that she existed?

She trailed the base of the spine, having long abandoned pursuit of a lone doe when the depression distracted her. The movement of gravel on the slopes above caused a sable-tipped ear to cant in the direction of the sound, and yellow eyes found the dark figure of an unfamiliar wolf. Nyx paused to watch for a short time, assuming the other to be of the opposite sex by their burly appearance, but a quick test of the air confirmed the stranger to be female. With the reminder of her scuffle with Drageda's Alphess some months before, the golden Ostrega chose not to engage. Lowering her crown, she made to continue on her way - hopefully unseen.
