All Welcome
there's a soft, familiar sound on the breeze; the ghost does not hesitate to drift along the wind with it, floating under the overcast sky empty and light as a hollowed cocoon. this time through a forest, beautiful and void of a single (wolf) soul, though the scent of a nearby pack is not lost on him. he can hear the rustling of fauna, the occasional keening call; otherwise, only the song and the sound of his own breath accompany him.
he pauses after a time, lifting his muzzle to watch the slowly-darkening sky through the trees. it's beautiful. watching the sun disappear, a heavy burden seems to lift from his chest; all at once he realizes the sun cannot be trusted. the sun dulls the song, his senses, brightens the world into something he can't quite make sense of. he closes his eyes, feeling closer to something he cannot name as night descends. he can almost picture it, though. silver, he thinks, silver and blue, and more beautiful than all the stars in the sky.

the northern lands sure were different than what he was used to. it didn't matter how he trekked, or where he managed to spend the night; buck knew he wasn't home anymore. it was obvious in the way that he didn't know how to step quietly. if cortland was hyper-aware of the pack wolves who were nearby, he would have had to have been deaf and blind to miss the lumbering coonass who was plowing through the brush.

surprisingly enough, buck happened across the other male after only a short while. of course, he hadn't been expecting it. the sight of the pale form was enough to cause the brute to leap out of his skin. hissing, buckshot curled a lip and shook his head dramatically at the fella he'd happened upon. "shoo-ey, ya dun gimme de heebie jeebies, you," he sputtered without grace. this stranger was the first that buck had happened upon since arriving in the teekon wilds.

it's not long before a noise reaches his ears, and his ears twitch, one side of his mouth drawing up wryly. perhaps this forest isn't as deserted as he'd thought. he turns toward the sound of something very large and very clumsy approaching, but he only takes a few steps before the stranger comes into sight — apparently as surprised as he is.
he flinches and takes several steps back at the outburst, ears pinned to his skull. he fixes piercing argent eyes on the stranger, both a challenge and a question. the golden mayfair can't make any sense of what the man is saying — he thinks perhaps he's here to hurt him, to take more from him. he won't allow it. never again.

the pale stranger seemed more alarmed than poor ol' buck had. that was a surprise cause he ain't ever felt like he'd done nothin' wrong to this wayward creature. all he'd done was try to make some friendly chat. there wasn't nothing wrong with that, now was there? he sure didn't think so. buck was aiming to make that a point when he saw the reaction from the other fella. his brow furrowed and he scrunched his features up.

"ay now, wad's de maddah? cad god yo tongue?" buckshot inquired with a sly tone and a wild change of features. he may not have been the brightest light in the night sky, but he sure had a good itchin in his paws when someone came along who was wary of him. he liked to see how far he could push his luck.
