Vector had followed the silver wolf, his brain abuzz with scanning every rock, every tree, every grass blade, memorizing them all. He would know this place inside and out, if he was to live there. The dark woods, the sharp rocks that tried to slit his calloused paws, the ominous silence that cling to the air,... The Russian liked it.

His new leader had been talking to him, welcoming him to the land. Then, from the higher pitch of the ending of a sentence, caused the recon to actually listen. Hadrian had asked him for his calling.

"My name is Vector, Master." he replied emotionlessly but added the respect to the sentence.

The two lupines continued farther into the woods, the shadows etching deeper and less light available. The less, the merrier.

"How do you think you should be punished for stealing my pack's resources, huh, slave? Something extremely painful will work."

In truth, Vector knew he didn't touch any of the packs food items. He didn't even pass over the border. When he hunted, he stayed on unclaimed lands. But again, his life had been molded by wolves who forced the right to be wrong in faces of authority.
Vector stayed silent for a second, giving the gray leader the impression that he was thinking about an answer, when he had already had one.

"Whatever you wish to punish me with, Master."

With a twinge of his sadistic side urging him to give the praetor an answer, he added,

"Work would be a good punishment. Hard labor. Very, hard labor."

Vector knew he was setting his own self up, but if the alpha took the bait, there would be a method behind his madness.
