Verdigris Ravine sinew

the sun had killed an antelope.

zoug had dragged as much back as he was able and called for the others.

in the shade of the ravine he watched @Sari and @Candle and @Koa eat, too exhausted to do more than slide into sleep. he was pleased with his find. it meant he did not have to hunt for several days.

zoug slept and dreamt of cool rain and small coyotes trailing him.

It had been a month since her meeting with Alekxander and she was beginning to feel the changes in her body. For one thing, she was ravenous, and ate the prey that Zoug had brought in great gulps. In between swallows, she glanced fondly at the male, glad to have his reassuring presence here. For another, in regards to her pregnancy, her belly had begun to show just a little, and the fur on it had thinned significantly. Sometimes her teats felt swollen and achy. She would take the aches and pains because it meant that new life grew inside her. She thought of Candle now, glad that they would both bring pups into the world soon. She smiled, knowing that the Tribe would swell in numbers come spring.

Ko'a watched her cousin eat with a quiet smile, her tail thumping the ground behind her. Ko'a would not give birth this year, yet she readied herself for new pups to come all the same. 

Ko'a ate herself, but not nearly as much and when she was finished and after a small nap in the shade, she got up and followed the scent trail Zoug had made here with the intention to bring back any remaining scraps she could find.

ko'a did not grow with pups in the same way of s'ari and candle.

it relieved zoug in a way; it meant he would not be the only hunter.

anticipation beat in his chest as he awoke later, in the cool of the day.
