Tags work! @Ryuu yay one worked. Now for yours please @Mason maybe? give up. Gonna pm you.

June had decided that today she was going to explore what was outside of the opening. Ever since her eyes had open she had noticed the area of bright light that occasionally became dark and always seemed to coincide with someone coming or leaving. The light called to her.

As her eyesight had begun to improve and blurs became more focused she was becoming more and more determined. Her walking still wasn't as good as Mason's. She struggled more than a few steps before falling back down but, while Raissa slept, she saw daddy head outside and decided that today was the day. She made her tottering way from where she slept next to her brother to the entrance of the den. The light became brighter and brighter as she wandered step by step, falling every two or three. Her right side never seemed to be where she expected it to be. Say one thing for June, say she never gave up.

The light became brighter and brighter, it was fascinating. And then it was all around her. The den, opened into one of the only clearings on the mountains. The rocky cliff face surrounded them and a few trails led in and out of the area. There was no immediate danger present to the pups - with all the wolves of the pack living in this area it meant that prey, and most of the wildlife who would enjoy a wolf pup, stayed away.

In awe, June looked around the clearing, the sounds only just piercing the ears that were on the verge of unfurling. The eyes taking in all the colours but still not quite recognising form. The world was huge.

Warm sunlight soaked into the creamy fur of Ryuu as she basked in it's glow by the den with her eyes closed. It was a beautiful day. A fuzzy cupped ear twitched towards the entrance of the den as the sound of small paw steps pattered near her. An icy blue eye cracked open to spot one of the pups gazing in awe at the world around her. Ryuu lifted her head to look at the pup in surprise, she had not expected to find the pups out and about for a little while yet. Last she had seen them, they had just opened their eyes. Softly smiling at the pup she stays quiet so that she doesn't startle the  dear. The pup was a pretty little thing, pure white with tips of chocolate on her ears and a dark muzzle.

Ryuu slowly placed her head back down on her front paws, there was no danger around here so the puppy would be safe. A frown slightly creased her muzzle at the thought that maybe the pup shouldn't be up and about. Her eyes shifted to FitzDutiful. Had he noticed that his daughter had followed him out? Gazing back at the puppy she weighs the option of either alerting the alpha or allowing the pup to explore the area outside of the den. She decided to just let the puppy have some fun as long as she didn't stray too far. FitzDutiful would notice his little follower eventually.

He rolled away from Mama and lay, ears pricked, watching June. She did not feel the need to fill him in on this particular adventure. Mason knew that they were not supposed to leave the safety of the den. Perpetually they had picked him up and deposited him back in the dank recesses; his middle name shone through brilliantly and Mason had kept within the boundaries so far.

However there was a certain thing that would override every other instinct he had: June.

Mason tipped his ears back as he saw her slender form haltingly reach the entrance. Without further ado he jumped to his paws and raced behind her, until he was close on her heels. He pressed his mottled muzzle briefly to her flank in a gentle kiss, reassured himself that she was okay - that this scary outside light had not swallowed her whole. Then he peered around him at this marvelous world laid out in front of him. Mason took a step forward, a bare inch from June's side, and took in the sudden rush of sounds and colours.

"Ooooooooooooohhhhhh," He breathed with adoration.

As she gazed, taking in the world she lost track of her father. He had failed to notice his little followers and had picked a trail out of the hollow. Mason was at her side not long after and he made a noise at the sight. Her ears weren't fully developed yet but they knew he had made a noise. "Oa Oa Eh Eh" she babbled back at him, not wanting to be outdone by her brother. She could make the noise too. It wasn't as continuous as his but it was a valiant attempt.

The light adjusted as a sun went behind a cloud and the sights were easier for June. She could pick out the high tips of the mountains and the low point of the valley. She could see the green of the trees contrasting with the blues of the sky that highlighted the brown of the mountain and yet the colours, themselves, were indistinct. For now it was varying shades of grey. Colour may come, no one would know that right now she wasn't able to tell them apart.

She took a cautious step forward and a pebble moved under the food, causing her to fall in a loud kaplunk. "Ahh" she made, the sound coming unbidden.

Soon after the first pup, another one appeared. This one was a tri-colored male, his face mirroring his sister's as he got his first view of the surroundings. Ryuu smiled as the little male voiced his awe, the female attempted the same. The white pup then tried for a step and fumbled. Ryuu immediately stood, her nose bracing against the puppy's side. "Are you all right?" She questioned the pup, unsure of what she should do now. There wasn't any noticeable injury to the pretty little female, but Ryuu was still worried. Her eyes glanced in the direction FitzDutiful had left, hoping that maybe he would have heard and returned to help. She was still new to all this. Maybe she should take them back inside? A frown creased her muzzle as she began to stress over what to do. But they seemed okay. The mother was in the den still, she could always call for Raissa.

Mason’s body thrilled with excitement. June turned to him and babbled a few syllables which were tinged with enthusiasm. Mason nodded his head encouragingly, mottled ears bobbing. She gently rocked a pebble with her petite paw and it made a noise – Mason was overawed by this large place and he wanted his father’s reassurance. He turned back to the spot where he had last spotted Papa… but he wasn’t there any more. Mason’s entire body dropped an inch and let his breath out with a soft whine.

He looked back to June, to find that a giant wolf had stepped in and was correcting his sister’s stance. Instinctively his hackles rose, lifting the motley fur of his scruff, but it didn’t take him long to see a familiar face. Ryuu had been to see them before. With the trustonly a child can give, Mason stepped towards Ryuu, and curled around her front leg, until he stood underneath the aspiring puppysitter’s belly. He gazed out at June and invited her into this temporary shelter with a shrill “Ih?”

Mason soon wrapped himself around Ryuu's leg and June saw this as Ryuu helped the little one up. She stood unsteady, looking in Mason's direction but feeling unsure about things. This had been a great idea but now she was scared. Scared and afraid. This world, as wonderful as it was, was appearing scary and terrifying.

She took a few shaky steps towards Mason, fell again, and scuttled the rest of the way to him as quickly as she good. Pushing herself with her hind legs, and clawing the floor with her front paws, she quickly crossed the short gap and squished close to her brother.

He would save her from this scary, hurtful place. It wasn't until she stopped moving that she saw blood coming from her paw where a nasty stone had cut through one of the soft pads in her front right foot. She looked at it in awe and shock.

coding keeps messing up here, sorry for that

The little male went beneath her belly, Ryuu looked down between her forelegs to greet him. ""Hello." Soon the little female joined her brother, whining. ""Oh, it's all right little one." Smelling blood Ryuu felt her heart jump to her throat. She sat, careful not to harm the pups and inspected them both, running her nose over them. She found that the pretty little female had a cut on her paw. Worry creased the center of her forehead. ""Here, give me your paw." Her tongue reached forward to lick the little female's cut until the bleeding ceased. ""Shall I carry you back to your mother?" Without waiting for a reply, she picked up the little one by the scruff and walked to the edge of the den, hoping that the male would follow in suit. Around the mouthful of fur Ryuu nervously called, "Raissia? Raissia? I'm sworry to wake you, but your wittle one has cut her paw on a wock." She gently lowered the pup to the ground to free her jaws before repeating. "Sorry, this one has cut her paw. I stopped the bleeding, but if she keeps running around it'll start back up again. I'm not sure what to use to help keep it from bleeding again."

Ryuu sat down, tenting them with her body until her belly was at his back and the soft fur of her chest tickled the tips of his ears. Now that June had crawled into the correct place, beside her brother, he felt a bit better. An adult shielding  them was a much better scenario than being out in the open. It was only on looking down at the cowering June that he noticed she had something red and wet on her paw. He had seen rain, but this was certainly not rain.

A whine escaped him as Ryuu stroked her nose gently over his body and then moved on to do the same to June. The small lady found June’s wound with ease and murmured soft words as she began to lick at the wound with a pink tongue. Mason bristled at first but he noticed she was scooping away the red wet stuff and leaving instead a film of shiny saliva that was nowhere near as scary. Mason often left a covering of the same stuff all over June’s back after drooling in his sleep.

The blood was gone. It appeared that some adults were magic. Mason looked up at Ryuu’s face with awe. Suddenly June was being lifted. Mason stood immediately, his stubby form as graceful as a puppy can be. He sidestepped one of the adult’s slender legs and immediately trotted after her with the innate obedience of a toddler in a scary situation. He spotted the dark opening of the den and glanced back at the splendid colours of the outside world.

Shaking his speckled ruff, Mason turned back to the entrance. June was more important. She was being lowered to the ground and he immediately moved across to ensure she was okay. Gently he nudged her side.

My last post :)

Ryuu made it stop, the odd liquid that came from her paw. She licked it until it stopped bleeding. It had stung a bit but not enough to make her squeal in pain, instead she had been fascinated with the sensation. It was a strange thing, her focus zoomed in on it like an owl's vision when hunting for mice, but too soon it was over and instead she was being lifted into the air.

She was used to being carried in this way and as soon as her caretaker latched onto the scruff of her neck she automatically went limp, hanging and letting herself be carried as so not to cause any further harm. The darkness of the den approached again and she happily let it envelop her as Ryuu took June to her mother. As much as she had wanted to be outside, it seemed too dangerous to go there again today.

Maybe the next time things would go better but for today she was content to curl up in a little corner of the cave and sleep. The cut was already healing nicely thanks to Ryuu's first aid, it wouldn't even be a thought for her on the morrow.
