The time finally came and Kivi once again returned to this awful pack. She stuck to the shadows this time, and covered herself in mud to avoid her scent being carried throughout the territory. With her were some berries she had learned to call the English Yew. It was a poisonous little berry that showed very few symptoms and Kivi liked to call it her silent killer. She had always been particularly interested in this one berry as many healers did not know how to treat the poisoning simply because they were no symptoms. It turns out being surrounded by weak female healers actually proved useful for once.

Kivi had a freshly killed rabbit beside her as she sat a few feet away from the Spine border. She quickly sliced open the rabbit and very carefully stuffed the meat with the berries. The female wasn't aiming to kill any wolves so she only put a small dose of the poison in the rabbit before hurling it towards the border. The wolfess silently watched behind a tree and waited for a victim to come taste her precious little trap.

First post is a bit longer but they'll get shorter after!

Spar thread: http://wolf-rpg.com/showthread.php?tid=9392

Following the challenge Tonravik had won, Kroc had made herself extremely familiar with the scent of the one on their shit list. The dry-smelling wolf was not the first on their list and certainly wouldn't be the last, but she was the most recent and that held meaning. At first, Kroc had smelled her at the borders, her blood spattered over the ground, making her first scent memory strong. Then, she had picked it up somewhere on her brief travels outside the Spine. It lingered around the area and if she hadn't been marked stupid for just the challenge to the Tartok leader, than her hanging around certainly did.

Today, the ultimate mistake was made. The bitch came back, without making sure she'd been followed. Kroc had been past the reaches of their claim this day, a testament to her dedication as she did not just guard their borders but kept track of the happenings around them as well. This Plains Wolf did not go unnoticed, nor did the fact that now, there was a more heady musk to her. She ran with a pack. The note filed away, Kroc lingered back for a moment, watched as she did something or other with a rabbit and tossed it onto their lands.

As quietly as possible, Kroc moved forward, stalking her prey until she was close enough. Then, and only then, did she charge forward, a great roar coming from her as she rushed the idiot. This one had a death sentence and she had just sealed her fate with that move. "Leaving gifts on the doorstep, I see." She growled, facing off to the agouti female. While she was mostly brawn, Kroc had brains backing her as well and that rabbit was most certainly not an act of restoring peace. "Let me do you a favor and shove it down your fucking throat." Teeth snapped heavily, aiming to snag her by the scruff of her neck and toss her aside like a goddamned ragdoll so that she'd expose that soft underside to the raging Tartok female and open herself to be ravaged.

Hit!

Kivi caught the horrible stench of a Spine wolf approaching the area. The female got low to the ground and prepared for a show, when out of nowhere she heard a growl behind her. Kivi turned around just in time to see a flash of pale fur charging at her. It the stupid white wolf would have just kept her mouth shut and controlled that growl she probably could have snuck up on Kivi. However like every other non Dotharan wolf, this female lacked the ability and skill to make a silent kill.

Kivi tried to avoid the attack and it angered her when the pale wolfess spoke. Why some wolves spoke in the middle of a fight Kivi would never know why. Was there a point to it? Shutting out everything in her kind, Kivi let her body take control and whatever her inner beast wanted to do Kivi would allow. If the pale wolf was smart she should eat the rabbit and take the easy way out. Kivi lunged at the girl aiming for her shoulder.

Miss! (Damnit lmao)

Immediately, they clashed and Kroc had no more words to say. Her mind shut everything else down and focused solely on the smaller creature in front of her. Kroc was used to quick wolves, of course, but this one had fast reflexes, faster than Kroc had seen at least. It meant that the bitch was able to dodge her first attack, a responding lash of her teeth reaching out at her shoulder.

The attack connected but failed to phase the tank of a wolf, now aiming to shove her weight into the smaller one to bring her down. When she failed to do so, Kroc put a bit of space between them, letting her mind assess what had happened so far in the seconds she had to do so. Her shoulder, she was unconcerned with, as it was yet a shallow wound.

Kivi had dodged this wolf's attack but she had to stay focused. She watched as the girl tried to use her weight to crush Kivi and then back away. What did this pale female think she was getting a break? Kivi wasted no time charging at the female again and aiming for her shoulder once more. She was prepared to make this wolf bleed, and would show the a Spine what happens when they mess with her.

This pale female would be lucky if she walked away alive. However once again Kivi told herself she was nkt here to kill, not unless a certian black wolf showed up. Then... and only then... would Kivi aim to rip someone's throat out. If the Dotharan wolfess was going to end this white female's life she would make her die from bleeding out.

Hit.

She charged again. Kroc kept the smirk off her face, letting the curr's teeth dig into her shoulder. Sure, she bled, but this was the wolf that had branded herself with burning metal. Kroc gave no shits about scars and flesh wounds and she was no stranger to pain, or battle tactics. The moment she felt the pain electrify her nerve endings, the Sauturi turned the tide on her, jaws whipping like a snake to catch the side of the female's neck, biting down and giving her a hard shake, whether she let go or not.

Hit!

Well shit.....was what was going through Kivi's head as she felt pain flow through the side of her neck. Nevertheless Kivi kept fighting even with the wolf's teeth in her neck. Kivi twisted herself so that she hopefully wouldn't do anymore damage to her neck, but also so that should could get into a good position to crush the pale female's jaw. A wolf who couldn't eat becuase their jaw was broken, had to die didn't they? It would be a slow death, just like Kivi had thought of in her mind.

She originally wasn't hear to kill, but now there was no stopping her. The Dotharan female had been successful with every single on her her attacks so far, why would she fail the next one?

Hit!

The bitch twisted, making the shake given less effective but tore Kroc's own teeth through flesh and fur, blood touching her tongue. Gold flashed as an old lust clawed its way up from the depths of her mind, a dark, primitive thing. Blood. This one's life would spill to the ground when she was done and nothing would stop her.

Pressure. Pain. Her jaws, her mouth. Blood poured from new wounds as the Plains bitch attempted to crush and cripple. No. Kroc would not suffer such humiliations. Instead of scratching and clawing to get her off, Kroc leapt forward, carrying the lighter weight of her opponent with her, front paws tucking under before she came down to slam them into Kivi's chest. She tore her own jaws free so she could tuck them and protect her throat, blood pouring over both of them now as the beast loomed over her.

If the dumb ass didn't realize her mistake yet, there was no hope for her.

Miss!

She had hit her mark. She could taste the blood of her enemy and it felt damn good to know she had gotten a good hit in her opponent. However Kivi had gotten to cocky and ended up facing the consequences. That ugly pale wolf did some crazy demonized shit because the next thing Kivi knew she was being crushed by the white wolfess. Kivi cursed inside her head, she was thinking about what to do next and that was not good.

Like in the beginning of the fight Kivi let instincts take over and let her body to the controling not her mind. The Dotharan wolfess turned her head to snap at one of the Spine wolf's legs. If she was able to lock onto her enemy she would try and crush the leg in her mouth, as she wanted this wolf to have no chance of escaping her wrath.

Of course, standing over her meant that Kroc's legs were open for attack. This was almost a guaranteed thing but her teeth missed, which was almost unbelievable. The crushing blow must have rattled her head but Kroc had no time for such thoughts and discarded them. The creature rose up again, aiming to use her weight to crush the female's throat, paws coming down again to collide with... Dirt. Earth. Nothing. She roared her fury as gold eyes flashed, searching for her victim.

Miss :(

How the hell she missed her attack will never be known, but Kivi had decided she had done enough damage here and that she should get out while she could. Both female's were bleeding and had wounds, and so the Dotharan wolfess would call this one an even fight. She had to admit it...the wolves of the Spine know how to defend themselves.

Kivi slipped away from her enemy before turning ready to break out into a sprint towards the plains she now called home. She hoped no one would notice her new scars and ask about them. From what she could recall during the fight they should heal in time and hopefully be easy to patch up. Now she justed needed to get the hell out of here.

She was gone. Gone. Gone.

Kroc's rage was unmatched, a terrible thing that rose its ugly head as her crazed eyes search and settled, finding the agouti female turning to escape. She saw red, logic lost on her as she made a final lunge forward, copying a move that a fellow packmate had taught her. Teeth snapped and... success.

Kroc whipped her head to the side, having every intention of yanking the female off her feet and dragging her back to face her death. The tank's rage knew no bounds though and instead, she bit through the bitch's tail, coming away with more blood and fur in her mouth but no wolf. The piece was dropped to the ground as the Warden bellowed, bounding after her.

Her wounds did not allow her to give chase much farther than a few meters and in the end, Kroc's pace broke, skidding to a stop on three legs instead of four, her shoulder bleeding freely down the leg the tucked up against her body. Her head thrown back, she howled, calling to the wolves of the Spine to give chase when she could not, to run that bitch out of their territory.

He was just heading back in from a personal errand when he caught the tail end of a fight. Like literally. One minute he was just loping back inside the packlands and the next he was watching Kroc rip the tail off of— Damn it! Why the hell was she back again? She'd been warned, multiple times what it meant to tempt these borders. That woman was insane. Or stalking him. Probably both.

And now he had to kill her.

A snarl ripped through his muzzle as Kroc's run did her in. The white wolf fell, releasing a howl into the air as he broke out into a full on run. Damn it. Fuck shit. Fuckity. Fucking shit. Of all the things to come back to this was not at the top of his list.

"DIE WOMAN!" he growled, letting the sound rip from his muzzle as he nipped at the Dotharan wolf's nub of a tail. Oh, but shit. Kroc was down. Damn it. He was torn. Kill the bitch... or, since he was the only one with any kind of medical knowledge in this pack... "GET THE FUCK OUT." He gave her a final charge, nipping at her heels before he peeled back, certain that wolf had crossed their borders into free lands.

Kroc had howled. Others would be here shortly. He had an injury to tend to.

A pain shot through her and Kivi realised something did not feel right. Her tail. It was ...gone. Well damn now that was not exactly part of Kivi's plan. The female had no time to turn around and grab the rest of her tail, as she had a crazy wolf running after her. The Dotharan female heard another's footsteps behind her. She gave a quick glance back to see who it was when a familiar face came into the picture.

"Ava'yorn tzarafar" was all she said to him before sprinting as fast as she possibly could. Once she heard his footsteps fade, Kivi stopped to look back as the male as went to aid his packmate. She then looked down at her tail. It was gone, and she would never see it again. A whine escaped the girl. A whine... was something not many heard come from Kivi.

She needed treatment from a medic and not just herself. She would need to seek help from the Khalas as she didn't want her tail becoming infected. Her mission was not a total fail. She had done damage and besides her precious little rabbit was still laying on the border. All it took was one bite....

@Tonravik I made a small mention of Ton-berry so that she could arrive in an appropriate time. If that's not okay, lemme know <3

Others are still welcome to hop in lololol

Everything that happened after she howled was a blur, taking no notice of her enraged packmates, Shit-For-Brains and Tonravik, who both quickly arrived on scene. Her injured shoulder burned with pain, a constant reminder that she was still alive, even as she hit the dirt when her legs gave out on her, adrenaline having run its course. She had succeeded in her mission to protect the pack and that was what counted, what mattered.

Her sole focus now was to return and retrieve her trophy.

She rose, unsteady and unstable on three feet, growling as she fought the urge to collapse again. The movement made her blood flow faster, heart pumping hard as she turned, determinedly hobbling back to wear the piece of the wolf's tail lay. It was a slow process but she got herself there all the same, picking up the half-tail and holding it proudly, her tail raised appropriately in the wake of the fight. Gold eyes held a slight fervor to them, betraying the monstrous rage that lurked beneath the surface; it was the single thing holding her to consciousness then, her stubborn nature not giving her the option to collapse again, blood loss or not.

Can't miss this! It's the like Spine wolves' version of a party!

He heard the howl and broke into a run. He approached on the tear, and as his broad paws pounded the ground his mind quickly took into the scene and calculated his best move. Kroc was injured. The smell of blood hit him. Iqniq was moving to her. Tonravik was just arriving. Some distance from them, the foolish plains wolf that had challenged their Alpha had paused, thinking herself safe perhaps for she had stepped past the invisibile line.

But she was not, and that line no longer mattered.

His fiery eyes locked, blazing, on her, and he charged past his packmates, his grizzled brown pelt brushed against the stark rust of Iqniq and then past the pale furs of Kroc, who had claimed something from the ground. He was a freight train, a roaring, unstoppable engine, barreling down the tracks at the plain's wolf.

She had best gather her feet and run, or he was going to sink his teeth into the back of her neck.

The shrubs–and anything in her path–bent beneath her as she crashed throughout her home, down, down, down, and she could smell the stink of Kivi's scent but the sweet perfume of her blood. She missed the rabbit, and the woman altered her course as she heard Kodiak run. The leader drifted to where the conifer woods began, and there the Plains wolf was, watching–

Tonravik was upon her in seconds, feeling shoulder connect and body fall as she aimed to bite the same area she had scarred, just a taste; teeth connected but gained no purchase. Kivi was aware now, up and running; Tonravik lurches forward, sprinting after her; but the smaller frame had the speed the bulldozer did not. Tonravik gave chase well until the bitch was out of sight, and she listened; if the other stopped now, she would hear.

if the tail-end PP isn't cool, lemme know -- I know we had said she'd be able to run and escape! I'll delete that end bit if ywant :)

Posting out of turn because it makes sense; if this is not ok please let me know. Kivi if Ton's PP is not acceptable I'll edit my post amending it as well :)

Kodiak was not the only one charging the plains wolf; brown bear was joined by black bear, and the pair descended on her with murderous fury, together as a formidable unit, flank to flank. Tonravik connected first at the pestilent female's shoulder and he had to brake suddenly and change his line of attack, for the powerful form of his Alpha had all but shielded the intruder from him, who had fallen but just as quick rose again to feet. Kodiak's jaws snapped viciously at her thigh, but the plains wolf was much swifter than either of them. He caught only a few tawny hairs, which lodged firmly between his teeth with the force of his bite. He gave chase with Tonravik, rage fueling them both to chase even when their prey had faded from view. When they stopped, he continued to snarl, a froth of saliva about his jaws, tail and muscles rigid.

He doubled back, breaking away from the chase and Tonravik and Kodiak were hot on the pursuit. Kero took a moment to exhale, sighing in a quick release tension he hadn't realize he'd built up. The Dotharan wolf would be chased away. His packmates had come to help. That left him free up to tend to their white tank of a wolf whom he found trying to hob along anyways.

"Sit down, woman." He hissed, happening upon Kroc. He neared her and her trophy, then withdrew a few paces. She didn't look so good, but there was some kind of feral light within her eyes that suggested she wasn't in the right headspace. And definitely not with that chuck of tail in her mouth. "That's just nasty." He snapped at her, moving inwards to take an inventory of her injuries. The red on white made it easier to see where she needed help, but he still had to ask. "Where did she get you?"

Copper. The color approached her, a deep rumble roiling out of her throat to warn him back, teeth tightening on her prize. Words, something she didn't comprehend just yet, tail lashing behind her as she focused those eyes on him. The fever of battle had always lingered afterwards with her but the compounded effect of blood loss too made it that much more difficult to see past the haze in her eyes.

Kroc's posture remained rigid, ready to lash out at the wrong move. He kept his distance though, giving her time to reassess and come back to herself. Minutes passed, the tension in her muscles not relaxing but eventually, progress was made. She dropped the piece of tail and spoke, her gaze not yet fully clear. "Get rid of the motherfucking rabbit," Kroc growled, though she did not have the capacity to explain any farther than that. Whether or not if he knew there was a rabbit at all didn't matter. Someone would hear her and someone would figure it the fuck out.

Sneaking in real quick.

Yup. Feral. Definitely hurt and not in her right mind. Like any creature, she was on the offensive and ready to fend off whatever might bring her more harm. He lingered, watching her carefully and waiting for that moment when she either fainted so he could move in and tend to her, or came out of that haze long enough for him to calm her out of it.

She dropped the tail. Good. Kero watched her sway before words spilled from her mouth. Rabbit? Whatever it was, it must have been important if that's all she could think to get out. Kerosene lifted his head, howling out a quick alert about getting rid of a rabbit, but he couldn't provide anymore details than that. Hopefully it would be enough.

"You need to sit down," he growled, his voice gruff and demanding this time. He repeated himself. "Where did she get you?"

The other was gone. The sound of paws drumming the earth did not end. She looked to Kodiak and nipped him companionably. The scent of her wolves was on the air; surely they were lurking, reinforcing. Tonravik herself slowed and stood stationary, glaring into the distance and licking the blood of Kivi from her muzzle. For another moment more she stood there before looking to Kodiak, appreciating his presence. Her aokkatti she knew was near, and would come to them. The Spine was a large place. Her head lifted and she howled another song of their triumph, their strength. Kivi had run, knowing her death was here. She was perpetually seconds from it, but Tonravik knew the wolf was stupid enough to return. Tonravik knew the other would die.

And she felt, as Kivi fled, that the other knew it, too. It mattered not who she ran with, who could defend such dimwitted behavior? And if they came against the wolves of the Spine, they, too, could meet their end. That simply meant they were as brainless as their subordinate, and the stupid were aligned with the weak. They did not survive, not for long. The mortality of Kivi had decreased to a dismal number. Her moronic behavior was met with a snarl that only now quieted.

A howl. Get rid of the rabbit. Rabbit? When there was no further sign that the other would return this instant, Tonravik turned to head toward Kroc and Iqniq. Her trot was a brisk one, and her anger was palpable. Kivi had lived this match, but Tonravik knew that the wolf was quick-footed and nimble. Returning back, the brown bear at her side, she looks to the tail the other held. She rumbled her approval, and then her sights turned to the rabbit.

Not cached, it was suspicious from the get-go; they did not leave things laying around like this. They were not so stupid. She moves nearer to it and sniffs. Had she not been so well-versed in this, given Tartok's penchant for poisons and dark herbal knowledge, she would not have thought anything amiss; but that scent, barely perceptible past the alluring scent of blood... It was too well done, too planned. Tonravik snarled. "Poison," came her vitriolic snarl. She bristles and her fangs are revealed. Coward. For it was not for her, but for any of the Spine. "Near, or far," she rumbles looking to the duo, "Kill her." It mattered not if the wolf just trespassed, now. Wherever the other was seen, she was to simply be killed on sight. If a wolf not so well-versed had come across this, it would cost them. She took the rabbit in her mouth, careful, and went to dispose of it.

Kodiak continued to stare out across the land with eyes blazing, until he felt the nip from Tonravik. He turned away then, but not without hesitance, glancing to his leader who looked upon him. Though he relaxed his muscles, his blood was still hot with anger. That imbecile of a wolf had thrice come to their borders, first to ask questions whose answers she should have been able to find on her own, and twice more to attack and injure his packmates. The brown bear was a strongly territorial and protective sort. This would not be forgotten.

He howled with Tonravik, and moments later Iqniq howled, alerting them to a rabbit that needed discarding. He followed beside the black bear, his pelt pricking with frustration that the female had escaped them again, but as they neared Iqniq and the pale female he saw that at least a part of her had been left behind. This did little to ease his frustration, but he chuffed with a glimmer of satisfaction, until the mention of poison caused him to bristle again, and he growled between clenched teeth. "Coward," he spat.

His head turned again, fierce, burning eyes casting out. His ire was such that he had half a mind to track her, and see that she never returned. He turned his attention to his wounded packmate, brows furrowing as he took in her injuries. Iqniq was at her side, and seemed to be tending her, and so Kodiak did not move in, giving them both space

His order was met with a snarl, tail lashing. Anger was her fuel, her fire, and it was what drove her now, even as blood dried on her leg. Things here had not been completed and she would not rest, nor allow herself to be healed until she had seen the situation through to its end. She was a strong creature and this would not fell her, not this day.

With furrowed brow and a determined look in her eye, Kroc set that front paw down on the ground, picked up her trophy again and started to walk. It was an ungainly walk at first, limping as she recognized the pain that burned her nerves again. She learned this pain and compensated for it, steeling the very nerves that cried out against her movement, evening out her gait until there was barely a limp.

Like this, she followed her Alpha to dispose of the rabbit, snarling at her well-intending pack mate any time he got close. Not yet. He could not touch those wounds just yet. Her prize still tight in her jaws, Kroc walked on and would only stopped when Tonravik herself stopped.

None of these wolves were going to make any kind of healing easy. He met her snarls with snapping fangs of his own. Damn her. She would let him get close enough to patch her up or she would bleed out, faint and then he'd be trying to fix things after the fact. Her choice. But one way or another he was going to get his paws on her.

His golden gaze narrowed, meeting her stubborn stare with a good hard look of his own. Then she started walking, following Toni with that damned tail of a trophy still in her mouth. Ugh. Fine. She could have it and when she passed out before she got where she was going, he'd be right there beating her with that nub.
