@Kingumut @Aegeus @Arverk Thread for warden! More claiming of STS. Also open for any loners who wish to join!

He'd done a number of laps around this place. The mountainous slopes several fronts and the valley on another made for excellent boundaries, but navigating them made for a taxing journey. The mountain ridges were fine. Getting up to those heights and staying at those heights was a manageable thing. It was the ups and downs that grew old after a while, especially since he was used to the level ground that was previously their borders around the spine. There, he climbed to start a patrol and he climbed again to end it. Here? The ups and downs were in the middle of the patrol. Oh well. At least now he had no reason to sit around idle and grow fat.

A number of their members had joined them when they'd fled the spine. Their faces had been mostly absent as he hoped they were taking the time to settle into their new home, but for now it was time for all of them to make an effort at claiming this new place. Iqniq lifted his muzzle and called for a select few. Some he'd met. Other's he'd not had the pleasure of meeting more personally. All the same, they were each a part of this pack and needed to play their part. Traversing the borders was but a small price to pay for safety, full bellies, and the loyalty of their pack family.
He couldn't believe he was talked into coming here. He was a lone wolf at heart. An adventurer. A rebel. Now he was here in the moutain yops, awaiting for the day they would claim these moutains. He didn't belong between all of these wolves. He liked it better with only two. He didn't have to worry about hunting every damn day or defending a whole territory. Just one looking after the other.

Now he walked alongside the giant pale wolf. He growled internally at the fact. He didn't like her at all. He reminded her of those stupid Blackfeather Wolves. When a howl rang through the air, they both went towards it. He guessed it was the Alpha who called. In the distance, an orange speck turned into a blob, that turned into a figure, that turned into a wolf. As he came closer, the male's details became very familiar. "Well, if it isn't Mr. Kero. I wouldn't expect to see you here."
She was amused. Maybe. Slightly. His attitude was fucking terrible but still they walked with her towards the Spires. Probably because they new that in the aftermath of the storm and the fact that Winter was not far away, they were better off in a pack. Maybe. She had no idea what they were thinking but she preferred to think they weren't dumber than a doornail. Plus, they had already proven to be successful hunters. If they could mesh with the pack, they would do well. That was really all there was to it.

Iqniq's call deemed him not far away and they angled towards his direction, her large paws carrying her easily. Was she an intimidating creature? She didn't know and didn't care if other thought her that way, but she certainly moved with power. Gold eyes flickered to the male half of the loner companions, vague interest showing as she looked to Igniq. "You know this fuckhead?" She queried, her normal attitude not ebbing in the presence of her friend. If these two joined, they'd quickly figure out that she wasn't singling them out. She acted that way to almost everyone.
Posting again because -exited-. @Raven Vyler feel free to join whenever you are able! <3

He wasn't sure what he was expecting. Other pack mates, sure. Those were the ones he'd called for, but when the crush of forest underpaw grew louder and a few of wolves brightened upon his radar he wasn't expecting to find his beta escorting a familiar face. It felt like forever ago since he'd seen this one. Truthfully, it'd only been earlier this spring, but time flew. He smirked. It seemed as though this wolf remembered him.

And was somewhat surprised to see him. "And where would you expect me to be?" he asked, amused if only because they'd really only met each other long enough to exchange names and a few words. Redwood had been fresh from the captivity of Blackfeather Woods. Poor boy had been shaking in his skin at the thought of them. It seemed he'd found a bit of his spirit between now and then.

Nanuk's sharp words didn't disappoint. "Met him a few months ago. He'd just escaped from Blackfeather Woods. Sounded scared of them. Was unfortunate enough to get caught by them in the first place." This one's survival skill were certainly... lacking based on what he knew, but if this wolf had survived the wilds after surviving that pack, he had some drive for life about him. "Where'd you find him?"
He ignored the brute woman and listened to Kero speak. He was scared, at the time, of his captors. Now he wished for that Pack to burn to ashes. Wolves like that didn't belong in this world. Killing for sport was just not okay. He was lucky to have escaped, but he still had that weird scar on his shoulder to remember him.

"She found us when me and my companion were going to eat. I lead her to a deer herd." He was still pretty mad about that. Him and Raven could have kept him all to themselves.
Iqniq explained and she nodded in her understanding. So he had survived being a hostage, too. Even better. Maybe, if he kept his head on straight and his mouth shut, he'd change her current opinion of him. But it didn't make him any less useful. "They were screeching about having something to eat." It wasn't her damn fault they'd been that loud. Besides, they'd postured at her first and she'd threatened to take their lives in return. "Be glad I didn't take your fucking meal, shitsack." She offered this as an aside, glancing at the quieter female.

"They're mildly capable," Her words were directed at her Alpha this time, knowing he would understand her. Nanuk did not give out compliments, even half-assed ones. She especially did not bring wolves to the pack if she thought them completely stupid or incapable. For her to bring them to Iqniq was a compliment in and of itself.
He'd asked Nanuk and Redwood had answered. Were going to eat... meaning they hadn't, and instead led in the direction of food instead. "That was kind of both of you," he murmured, even if the intention nor desire had been there in the first place. Their sacrifice was admirable and appreciated. They'd not yet had the opportunity to hunt fully as a pack since settling. It appeared as though they were all a bit starved.

He snorted. His efforts to hold back his amusement failed as he found all of this rather comical. Their collective measure of snark towards one another was something he'd missed and found pleasantly familiar. "Mildly?" he questioned with a smile upon his muzzle. That meant they were capable of something and since they were all starving in some form or another, why not take the opportunity to find out.

"Well, where did this herd go and who's interested in a real meal?" He proposed a hunt. With the four of them it shouldn't be too terribly difficult granted they could all figure out how to work together in this.
Nanuk's words angered him. Yes, they were lucky they didn't have the meal stolen, but even if they had lost it they would still have a whole deer herd to themselves. Man, how he hated being here. Red had no idea how he was dragged into this. Was he going crazy or something? Well, he had always been a little mad.

The sound of a hunt sounded great right now. Espesially since him and Raven hadn't eaten. He glanced over to the dark female, hoping she could join. He couldn't really keep sane without her. "Sounds good," he replied turning back to Kero. "The herd is very close by."
She angered a lot of wolves, and sometimes even took pride in it. It was not her job to make everyone happy and she clearly knew that. Iqniq did not mind her attitude and still, the irritated one lingered. Shit, if he could put up with her being an asshole, he might just be able to handle everyone else too. They were all their own special brand of asshole and together, they were a band of shitheads that stood together, that protected one another, despite their differences.

"The meadow just southwest of here. The three of us drove the herd toward the Spire." Even if the male was making faces, he seemed to be fair at playing on a team, and the female too. Now if they could hunt together without problems, they could bring down a meal that would placate every hungry stomach present. Her eyes focused on Fuckface. "We know your sorry ass can hunt alone. Can you two work together and lead a group?" This to test both wolves present. The Spire could use able bodies who had wits about them, even after a disaster such as the storm.
«I'm all of sorry, made it back.»

Raven had been listening to the conversation for quite some time, aware of Red's mood deteriorating as they neared closer to the pack lands.

The ivory seemed a bit more than a hassal, someone you had to get on their good side to be accepted by, but someone who have her loyalty once earned.
Red seemed annoyed by her, the quips he had sparked back and forth making the dark girl chuckle every now and then.

They had arrived, and before them stood a red wolf with a pelt of fire.

Red knew him? All the easier to get in.
The ivory questioned their skill.

"It's usually I who tracks down the prey, and Red is the main strongman in the kill. I point the way, and he smashes em. We work as a team."

Rave returned her glance, moving closer to Red.
Welcome back!

Nanuk was... special. She was definitely one of those wolves who meant well, had a terrible delivery, but was the kind of wolf you warmed up to gradually. Heck, even the first time they'd met each other they'd hit it off, tossing all sorts of insults back and forth at each other in what he'd learned to be her flavor of fun. That she'd offered both of these wolves a compliment (small and backhanded as it may have been) about their ability to hunt, it was still a compliment and likely as much as they'd get from her for their having just met. She thought these guys were okay. Time to find out for himself.

With the suggestion of a hunt up in the air, everyone seemed to be down with the idea. The wolves of the soon-to-be-claimed Spires could use a good, solid meal. These loners could definitely use their help. It was a mutually beneficial arrangement for all of them and, at Nanuk's suggestion, would be a good activity to measure whether or not these wolves had the potential to join their ranks.

The herd was close. Good. The dark female chose that moment to speak, revealing their hunting strategy. Iqniq nodded. "Sounds like a plan then. I'm Iqniq," he said glancing first towards the female and then to Redwood. Yup. Name change. Surprise. "You've met Nanuk. I don't think I caught your name..." His eyes turned back towards the female in Redwood's company. If they got these introductions out of the way, they'd be that much closer to eating.

"Redwood, would you and your lady friend lead us back to that herd? We'll let you guys take point and will assist as necessary."
The red dusted wolf rolled his eyes at Nanuk's words. "I know. I know." Sure, they were lucky to not have the meal taken, but now some scavenger probably has a belly full of meat. No way it would have went unoticed. They were in realativly flatlands then. It would be easy to sniff out the prey.

So the other firey wolf's name was now Iqniq now. New responsiblity meant new changes. In this case a name change. He snickered at Iqniq's words about Nanuk. I would rather not have met her. He wouldn't be here right now if it wasn't for her.

He turned round towards where the deer were after Iqniq's last words. "Sure thing. Less talkin'. More hunting." He was quick to start moving. His strides were quiet and full of purpose. He needed meat now and he could probably speak for for all of them. The more he moved, the faster he got. It was a quick trip to get down the moutaintops and into flatter terrain. As he saw brown glossy pelts in the distance, his body became smaller. He flattened himself so he was hidden and waited for the others to come.
Introductions were passed around like candy, her weight shifting impatiently as she listened. She was hungry; no doubt that all of them were. They agreed though and she let the two take point, following at Iqniq's side. Silently, she bumped her shoulder against his own, her own form of greeting to him. Their friendship, despite being only months old, ran deep and if he didn't know she was loyal to him by now, then he really did have shit for brains.

Red made good on his word, leading them right back to the herd, where he got low to the ground and waited. In the past, those who wanted to join had been rather terrible at actually leading and working together with others. If these two could do all of that, there would be no problem accepting them into the pack.
Posting out of turn to keep this moving. @Raven Vyler feel free to hop in whenever you are able!

Redwood took off. True to this encounter, the wolf took point and led them down the edge of the mountain towards the neighboring valley. Iqniq followed along as he and Nanuk walked shoulder to shoulder behind him. The white wolf nudge him in silent greeting. He turned and snagged an ear of hers, tugging on it for a bit until Redwood drew them close enough that they needed to be ready to get to action.

They all crouched low, hunkering down and waiting for the right time to move in. Red was point in this. Iqniq watched him, waiting for further instruction or a signal so the wolf might guide them to wherever they needed to be. So far, so good. A little bit of deer on the table this evening sounded delightful. If he could snatch the liver for Tonravik? No doubt she'd enjoy the tasty treat.
He was as quiet as a mouse as he awaited the trio. Luckily it wasn't a long wait. He was pumped for this. He had never hunted with more than two wolves, so for him this would be a challenge. A challenge worth taking non the less. If he were to join this Pack, it would be great.

He raised himself just a bit, to analyze the herd. There was young, but he was sure they all wanted something bigger. He slowly started walking around, his eyes studying every movement. His fiery gaze rested on a certain deer who seemed to be limping. Easy prey. Perfect. They could possibly lead it away from the herd. He turned his red head to the others, making a signal over to the injured one. This is what they would attack.

He snuck over to the right side of the herd, making sure his scent was downwind. Hopefully they would see he was doing the old trick of leading the sheep away from the herd.
short shitty phone post here we go. Excuse grammar/spelling errors plz

A signal given, her eyes moved to the intended target, appreciating the fact that he did not attempt either the biggest, baddest kill or the easiest possible. He chose something large, but injured, something that they could bring down with some good ok' fashioned team work.

A silent nod. She accepted this target and followed his lead, moving to her own more suitable position. Gold eyes watched him close for the next signal, ears trained to the herd to listen for sounds of alarm.
Feel free to write out the hunt! Let's get this moving so Redwood can be truly accepted!

The mark the wolf chose was a good one. It wasn't small enough to be a snack, but it was certainly a deer that wouldn't last much longer on its own. Those near death were easy prey and it was the wolf's job to take them out and dine upon them so they could all fulfill their role in this life. Iqniq licked his lips as he nodded back to Redwood. If that was not answer enough, he chuffed lightly in response. Approval for that one? He didn't need it, but he had it anyway.

The broke into groups then. Divide and conquer was a nobel strategy. Iqniq too moved into place and settled. His gaze turned, toward Redwood. This was his hunt. He could lead it as he so desired and he and Nanuk would merely play the supporting roles. It was time to see what this wolf could do when given the opportunity.
I apologize for my lateness!

When the wolves had gotten into their positions, he waited for a second before quietly moving forward, towards the group of deer and to the back of the injured target. As the herd of elk saw him, they moved farther away. It didn't matter about the rest of the deer, only about the target.

He herded the injured one farther away, expecting the other two to keep the rest of the herd away. It wasn't as easy as it looked. Sometimes the injured one would limp back with the others, so it took him a couple of tries to lure it out. He took a quick glance to the other beasts. They had cut away from the target so they wouldn't risk their own lives. His amber gaze danced back to the lone beast. Alone and calling desperately for the others, but it was too late. Its herd was far back, heads up and trotting away nervously. Time for the kill.

Like a flash of light, Redwood darted over to the lame creature. Instinctively, the creature ran for its life. But even still, it could not escape the red dusted wolf. When each second pasted, Redwood got closer and closer, until he was right by its legs. He jumped to the right, avoiding its one kicking leg. He lunged over, teeth clamping onto the side of its neck. He adjusted his teeth to clamp down harder. He could feel the animal tire. The run turned into a trot, that turned into a walk, resulting with it staggering to the ground. When it was down, he dug his teeth into the flesh, and soon the struggling animal was embraced with the hug of death.

Only then did he release and look up to see if the duo approved of this hunt.
Quick post to get this closer to closing, that way Red can officially be ranked! also being vague about Raven

They did their part and he did his. When she and Iqniq had run the herd off, avoiding sharp hooves, they had circled back to observe. The girl, Raven, failed to be a focal point as the leading Spire wolves watched Redwood bring down the kill. He could hunt, that was for sure, but he had room for improvement when it came to teamwork. But overall, he would be an asset in the winter months that would surely come upon them soon enough.

A slight, imperceptible nod was given, something Iqniq was sure to catch. His was the final call though, and they waited on his word.
I'll wrap this up! Good thread. Welcome Redwood!

Their hunt went over smoothly and efficiently. With their combined efforts, Redwood was able to put an end to the deer's life and all of them were able to consider this hunt a victory. The wolf was skilled in this area. Perhaps he would pursue it and make something for himself out of it. If not? Iqniq was certain he'd have other talents worth exploring.

With the deer newly deceased, Iqniq caught Nanuk's look of the affirmative. With a knowing smile, Iqniq moved to position himself over the corpse where it would be easier to drag it off. "Well then, what you do say about getting this meal back home?" He looked to the lone wolf who was now officially part of the pack. "Welcome to Sawtooth Spire. Let's get this across our borders, grab a bite, fill the caches, and get you all settled in."
