Copper had returned and FitzDutiful wasn't entirely sure what to think about it. He had accepted the male again on good faith, granting him a second chance that he would offer to anyone. He had offered it to Bindi, he had offered it to Raissa and Copper deserved that chance too. He had been the first member after the pack had joined but FitzDutiful was now torn as to whether that should mean anything. Still, it was done now. He was not going to get any special treatment for he was the lowest of the low and his past history meant nothing now. It gave him a free pass for the acceptance he had been granted but that was it. Free passes had only lead him into trouble before.

As he patrolled the border, wondering what they day would bring, he passed the point where Zaria had found the poisoned animal. He wondered how her experiment was going and his thoughts went to the buffalo wolf bringing a smile to his face. He still spent as much time with her as he could but liked the fact that she was one of the ones to leave the pack land. It was reassuring knowing that there were wolves who could do that and return. He wanted to take things further with her but he was still afraid. History showed him that it wouldn't end well. He'd elevate her position in the pack and then she'd be gone.

With his mind lost in these thoughts he continued his trek, marking the borders in places they were weak but not paying any extra attention to the land to either side of him.
(I got a specific jam I'm gonna listen to while in this thread. lel.)

Hmm. Copper thought. He was having problems with everything lately. pretty much everyone in the pack distrusted him, and he didn't like it. Something in him hoped he could come back, and everything would resume where is stopped before. Nope. Fitz was apparently a warlord, who'd employed a gang of a-holes.
Life is just a dream.
The rusty wolf was slightly surprised when he saw the king himself pass by. He wondered to himself, If he's the king, I'm the prince. It was odd. Copper had lived in a world where nothing he said had any consequence. Bindi, and now Zaria had beat him into submission, but half a year of solitude brought it right back to the forefront of his moral compass. He didn't mean any harm, and respected Fitz, but.. It was odd. For the first time in quite a while, Copper was troubled.

He hopped up, and followed after Fitz silently.
Haha, I was listening to Lana Del Rey when I wrote it. Hence the title ^_^

FitzDutiful would have laughed to know that Copper thought of him a warlord. He wasn't that at all, not in his mind, but neither was he the same wolf when Copper had left. Then he had been fairly new to his alpha leadership. He had had wolves who had been around him when he was still unsure of himself and that had tainted the relationship between them all. Now he had wolves who would protect him, and each other.

As it was, he was lost in the thought of the past. He knew he was different to who he had been and Copper returning had prompted this realisation. He was slowly deciding it was a good different though, each time the pack lost a member they had grown tighter and made it through another close scrape when it would seem they were close to losing their home. Now they were blossoming again as wolves looked for winter shelter, if not permanent homes.

He slowly started to come back to himself, picking up more and more about the land around him as the he continued marking the borders, strengthening the defences that were slightly weak. There weren't as many weak places any more, everyone was contributing.

A soft breeze brought with it the slight scent of Copper, but FitzDutiful didn't look around for him yet. It was faint enough that he could be a distance away or even just recently passed through.
