Set outside the borders @Burke and/or @Akela

Winter was coming and it was coming fast. As much as Mikasi enjoyed being alone, he needed a pack. He wouldn't survive out here alone. There needed to be some wolves that he could trust. He could serve someone and in return get some protection. Don't get it twisted: he was able to protect himself, but he'd rather be sure he wouldn't die in winter's cold grasp.

As he walked through the Teekon, he thought of his dear sister. Would she survive without her big brother? Maybe he shouldn't have left her side. For a second, he felt guilty for leaving her without a word. What did she do when he wasn't there when she woke up? She would never trust him again.

Mikasi shook those thoughts out of his mind when a familiar smell rose in the air. Pack borders. He was a little ways away, so he didn't want to move on further. He stood there for a moment before letting the traditional wolf song drift through the air, asking for the presence of the leader.
Burke looked at Meldresi and his children before leaving the den. He would have to do his duties as an alpha. The male wasn't too far away from his den when there was already a wolf calling out for him. The large male trotted towards the border at a calm pace, it was also a test of patience for the one that would howl. Burke was not going to rush because there was someone at their borders. The heavy set male ruffled his fur, as he came closer he started to make more use of the shadows.

The pale eyes registered the male before him for a moment. After he got a good look he appeared without making a sound. His large frame held high and his docked tail upright to show his position and not to mess with him. He stopped before the male not showing any sign of a greeting or an hello. "You called," he pointed out the obvious, but with that he gave the other permission to speak.
It had taken some time for his call to be answered. Longer and longer he waited, after some time sitting down. His eyes never left the darkness though. There had to be someone here. Had the wolves all left or something.

More time passed until finally a grey pelt came into view. The closer the male got, the more features Mikasi could make out. This male was much, much larger than him. He looked more on the brutish side than the agile side. This wolf was very intimidating. "Yeah," he started, "I wish to join your pack." He stood up from the ground, shifting his body into a respectful stance. "Got a name?"
Burke looked down at the other brown wolf. He associated the brown color with Grimnir and he wasn't sure if he was liking that. Surely they had Cyn in the pack too but he hadn't seen the female for awhile and considered that she might have left after all. He knew that she felt really down, maybe that was a factor to leave. His pale eyes turned back to focus on the male before him. He wasn't really liking how the other was talking. "Well you need to introduce yourself if you even make a slight chance to make the cut," he pointed out.

The male might have taking a respectful stance but the 'got a name' part just got him on edge for some reason. Of course he had a name. He was curious why the male would even want to join them. Clearly he hadn't heard anything about them, so it seemed like a leecher-case to him as a first impression. "Why this pack? Do you even know the name of this pack?," he asked, not saying to him what he was looking for because then the male could just say that he could do those things.
The agouti male did a little chuckle, shaking his head slightly. "Oh, sorry. The name's Coyote, but they call me Mikasi back home. I prefer that name more." He was named after the little beast for his coloration and build. Back where he came from, everyone had a different animal. Tradition for him. "I came to this place a few days ago. I used to travel with my sister, but we split ways.

He shook his head at Burke's question. "Well, that's a mystery to both of us. Maybe it's just 'cause I have an urge to protect others. Happens that I want to serve this pack. I have a good skill in the gamekeeper department. I am also a good fighter." He always liked to protect others. It surged through his blood. "'Fraid not. What is the name of this wood?"
Burke looked at the other with his skeptical gaze. He wasn't sure if he was about to accept this male, he seemed rather friendly, on the other hand if he would have looked meaner Burke might be more distrustful of him. "And where does your loyalty lay? With your sister or with this pack and me as your leader?," he asked. Burke disliked wolves having relationships outside of the pack. The pack should come first place.

Burke raised one lighter dot. "The borders you are standing on is literally marked with blood, you think we need more protection?," he commented. That he was a hunter was nice but he also knew a lot of his current members were trying to get the trade. They could always use fighters but Burke wanted to press on his loyalty and that the male would know he would have to work hard for even a grain of approval. "Black Feather woods. I'm the alpha, Burke. This isn't your normal kind of pack. I'm not sure if you fit us," he pointed out casually.
"I wouldn't have left my sister if I had loyalty for her," he pointed out. It was his own flesh and blood, but still the man chose to leave her. He wanted to carry his own weight instead of having his sister by his side all the time. Mikasi knew his decision was probably for the best anyways. She needed to be as tough as he was and this was the only way.  "My loyalty will lie hear and only here.

"It never hurts to have the extra protection and food, especially with winter rolling 'round," he stated in a calm voice. Every wolf needed to up their game for the winter. You needed to take or be taken. The foolish ones would certainty die.

Mikasi raised a non existent eyebrow at Burke's next words. "You never know until you try. I promise it won't be a mistake. How is this pack different from the rest, if I may ask?"
Burke let his pale eyes roam over the other's body, since his answers were somewhat what he wanted to hear. It seemed that the male didn't have much loyalty to his family, which was on the other hand also concerning. He did recently accept Shego back into the pack after he disloyalty. They could use the extra people to hunt down prey animals. Burke kept wisely quiet for now, hearing the other out.

"Nothing I can talk off to a stranger. Though the wolves we do house wouldn't feel comfortable in a ... lighter place. You will see a lot of killing, also of our own kind, if they dare come too close or challenge us," he pointed out. "Plus, some of the territories within our pack could easily kill you." Burke was thinking about Weeping Meadow and the Swamps. If you weren't careful one could easily die. Even the web of tunnels one could get lost in and die from the lack of food.

Burke stepped forward, his posture full of dominance. He did that for a reason, just to check how the other would react to it. Burke was not going to accept someone that was too submissive and weak like Misty, but he was also not going to accept someone that didn't see him as his leader from the start. He wanted respect and submission from the start, which was a fine like with being too submissive and an ass-kisser.
Ruthless pack it sounds like. Well, to some wolves that may have been perversions, but to him it sound great. He wasn't such a fan of 'nice pack's. Maybe it was because how he was raised. "A pack like this is my mind of place," he said with a smirk.

When the bigger male stood over him, Misaki knew what to do. He lowered his body a little and and flattened his ears.

Short post ·-·
The male seemed self assured. Burke just wanted to see how he would behave himself. At least the stranger saw him as the leader. "Alright. Prove yourself, if I don't like what I've seen in the next two weeks you're out," he stated to the other. His pale eyes firm and not very trusting at all.

"You stay away from the alpha den, and you will be partly in charge of filling the caches, making new ones and cleaning up older ones with rotting carcasses. If you have any free time you can mark the borders too. We, and especially I, don't like slackers," he spoke to the male, already giving him tasks so he would know what to do. Hopefully the male would ear his trade soon and then Burke would feel more confident about him staying. The alpha then turned around and trotted off back to his family.

I will archive after your post! Welcome (back).
Mikasi's ears perked up when the bigger male spoke. Two weeks. That seemed fair enough. He would be sure to prove himself so he could show the alpha he was trustworthy. "Sounds good to me," he stated.

The tasks that were assigned weren't too easy, but that didn't matter. As long as he could get the work done, it would be okay. "You can consider it done," he exclaimed, "I ain't one to slack off." It was a fact. The man liked to keep busy rather than sit on his butt all day. In a way, lives depended on him, and there was no room for rest.

He watched as the giant turned back into the woods. He was truly greatful this male could trust him enough to accept him. Soon after his form disappeared into the wood, Mikasi followed.
