The night was new and fresh upon the land, instilling the Emberwood with a brisk chill to hint at the progress of autumn towards winter. It was the perfect time for him to prowl - and the woods, lovely and foreign as they were, were thick in the scent of prey. Micco would linger at the base of the mountain, taking his time to explore the various paths as he sought a meal. The forest was aptly named; each tree seemed to be aflame with autumn's hold, albeit dulled by the somber light of the  moon. He wasn't interested in what was above him - the cougar wanted to feast, and so he searched the shadows for sleeping beasts to set upon.
Hey! I hope you don't mind a wolf. Oh, and please don't hurt lunae yet. Not yet!!!
Lunae stumbled through the woods. The autumn air was Lunae's favourite. She kept going but something seemed wrong. A scent, maybe? Not a wolf, they smelled different. Lunae suddenly became conscious of noise she made and began lightly treading on the cold ground. She felt better than before, a little more alive. Her ears twitched, the scar still slightly stinging. She slowly followed the faint scent.
Lunae didn't really notice the moon until now. Everything was lit by the silent moon. Yes, she knew about the moon, for that is what her mother had named her after. But as she stared into the dark void, small lights appeared. Small moons, maybe? They twinkled like dew in the morning. Her mother had never mentioned these magical lights. They twinkled but didn't move. Lunae looked back down to the cruel world and kept going. As she walked through the night, she silently wished to be among those magical lights.
He thought he'd found a nest of some kind. Something small had burrowed in to the debris and made a path, a bee-line for some crushed bushes. The trees beyond that narrow route looked to be carved up, with the bark peeling in some places or absent entirely in others. He didn't recognize the marks - but the boy was young, and would probably lose his mind if he encountered the stag which rubbed so vehemently upon the elm - and so he bypassed them entirely, seeking the mouse which he suspected was the maker of the nest in the first place. He was trailing this when a foreign scent caught in his senses, and with a brief look around, Micco launched himself up in to the reaching arms of a nearby tree; whatever he could smell, it was close. Or it had passed through this way very recently. Perhaps it was food?
Oh god, I'm so slow, sorry!

Lunae continued towards the unknown. The autumn didn't allow her to forget about itself. It kept blowing for a few minutes, slowed down, then went back. 'It just can't make up its mind, can it?'Lunae thought, while shivering from the breeze.
A sudden branch that had cracked under her feet made her wince, the sound also going up to the birds, causing them to fly away. 'Great, now everything heard me', she thought, angrily.
As she went deeper, she felt more exposed. 'Anything can find me now, I have to focus', she ordered herself.  She stood, waiting for a scent to come to her, and so it did.
The scent of earlier had come back. Eyes closed and trying to follow the scent again, she didn't notice that she slowly began turning around. The scent was lost as soon as it came. Ears going up, she tried to hear it instead. 'Nothing', she thought, relieved, and a little disappointed. As she kept going in the general direction of the scent, she wondered what creature may be laying ahead.
Having hoisted himself in to a tree, Micco was able to stare down at the approaching figure with ease. He didn't know what it was yet - he thought, maybe it was a deer? His mother spoke of them from time to time. But the creature did not have a crown upon its head as she described it; it was small and dark, like a bear cub, but sharper of features. The scent of the wolf pervaded this area now. It was enough to make Micco's short fur stand tall, his tail to puff with uncertainty, and he gripped the reaching branch before him with a quiet intensity. With a small shift of his body, he managed to slip undetected on to a different branch; now he was looming directly above the stationary creature, watching, waiting, studying.
This is before my joining thread

Lunae stopped. Her internal compass spun wildly. The scent had returned and was right in front of her. She circled the spot, trying to find where the scent had come from.
The moon had finally come from in between the  dark clouds. Looking up, she forgot she was under a tree. There was something that was bigger than a branch.
Squinting, a creature seemed to be in the tree. It wasn't a wolf, then what is it? Lunae wasn't sure how to react. Slowly backing away from under the tree, Lunae felt vulnerable. Her ears were flat against her head, a soft growl came from her throat. It was like a thin wolf, yet large. It's tail didn't have a lot of fur.
Lunae was too curios to fight, but she was ready incase it wanted to fight.
He did not anticipate being spotted - but as the clouds separated above, the moon bathed the area with light. His silhouette was made clear, as was the shine of the wolf's gaze as it locked upon him. Instantly, the puma gave out a low warning noise; he wanted to bare fang and hiss, to strike and flee, but his balance on the tree branch was precarious at best. So all he could do was stare down at the furry thing. His own short fur was spiked and puffed up, with his tail shooting straight up and bristling for a moment - it returned to the branch, curling slightly across the surface after a heartbeat - and that slight imbalance made Micco lose his footing. He slipped backwards, catching at the bark with his rear claws, scrambling with his front limbs, only to come crashing down in to the dark of the tree's base.
Lunae kept staring at the creature. She wasn't able to pull her eyes away. The creature gave a low growl, it's unusual tail going up then around the tree.
It lost it's balance, scrambling to regain it, it fell. Lunae's ears went up in surprise. Lunae to a step towards it, then backed away.
Her mind was indecisive, should I go? Or should I be careful?  Slowly, Lunae crept up on the fallen creature. Inspecting the strange creature, she got even closer. She waited for it to get up, react. She stood near the creature, but still too far for the creature to attack.
With no other option but to wait, the wolf sat down. A deformed wolf? A different creature probably.
Landing on his feet had saved him some bruises, but the bracing of his legs upon the forest floor wasn't that much better. Nothing broke, but he would be sore for a few weeks. And when the wolf advanced upon his position, Micco had become a puddle of shadow with his eyes catching the light of the moon - an eerie reflection settled there, making the cat look like a pair of floating eyes. Very angry eyes. If the wolf got too close, Micco would defend himself. He was already bunching himself up; tucking his limbs beneath himself, wrapping his tail about his haunch, and keeping his attention glued on the excessively furry creature before him. His head was low and snake-like, with ears planted back, and his eyes were saucers, ready for imminent danger. Through it all, his yowling - meant to scare away the approaching threat, or warn of his impending attack should they continue - rose up to haunt the forest.
Last post from me! Maybe they can meet again later?

Lunae backed away from the animal, as it made a warning sound. Lunae winced as it made that sound. It's so loud. Lunae's fur went up, her ears flat. A low growl came from her throat. She let her tail fall to the ground, showing that she won't attack. She forced her ears up. She slowly pulled her eyes away from the creature's eerie, glowing eyes.
Turning around, Lunae left the scene, hoping it won't follow. She didn't want to fight, she was tired now. As she made her way through the dark forest, she kept her ears up, just incase the creature wanted to come. She let out a silent sigh, she was tired.
The dark animal gave its own growl, which made Micco deepen his own - but then she retreated. Her body low and quick, the puma reacted to the movement with his eyes first and then, when there was a comfortable space for him to move, he gave a brief chase - leaping out of the dark after the wolf and swiping at the air, his fangs bared and shining in the night. When the wolf was gone, Micco gave a cursory glance around himself and slunk away in the opposite direction.

Exit Micco! :)
