His head was up and there was a smile on his face as he travelled along at a prancing sort of walk. That was until his nose caught whiff of something beneath the earth. Suddenly, as though there was a rope tied about his snout and some strange creature below his was giving it a yank, the black leather of his nose shot down and started snuffling in the dirt. He fought against the force with a grunt. "No!" He barked. "Stopping this! Ack!" But it would not stop. He could not stop. Before he knew it, his small paws were furiously scrabbling at the soil, sending it scattering as he dug an ever-expanding hole. "Paws! I am commanding you to not be doing the thing!" But his paws were not listening and he continued to dig, and dig, and dig some more until he had unearthed an old bone.

"Oh," he said softly with wonder as his paws, with a mind of their own apparently, came to a stop. He looked down with admiration. "Woulds you be looking at that," he giggled. "I still doos not like dirty paws, but this is okay to the me." With a wagging tail, he seized his sur-prize.
Hi :D Mind if I jump in?

Trotting along, the burly female kept her head level with her neck, her large shoulders sloping with each trot step. Her breaths were a bit heavy, her body the tiniest bit fatigued. It felt as if she had been trotting for hour- oh wait, she has been trotting for hours. She had been on an adventure as she liked to call it.

Not to find anything or anyone, but just to fill her mind with a story she could maybe tell others when she returned. Breaking down to a walk, her paws yelled at her with a aching pain, it felt as if she was walking on bird egg shells. Shaking her head, the female continued her path of a slow beat walk, her nose starting to fill with a scent.

It smelt like another creature like herself, yet a twinge different. Her ears pricked up at the scent, her tongue rolling out of her mouth as she panted from air loss. She started to follow the scent, her large strides taking over the land. She wondered curiously to herself. Maybe he or she is friendly? Maybe dangerous? Maybe even interested in joining a pack of some sort? Maybe...
Not at all! thanks for joining :)

Soft growls and barks would greet the ears of anyone nearby as he darted at his bone, gnawed it, flung it, pounced it, pawed it and otherwise found a great amount of entertainment in it. His dirty feet, for now, were ignored in the excitement of the moment, but as soon as he paused to catch his breath, his tongue lolling from the side of his slim muzzle, he felt the grit between his toes and his face pinched in disgust.

"I am hating this part," he said to no one, not yet aware that another wolf approaches him. He was quite happy to find the bone, of course, but he despised how his feet were inclined to dig whenever his nose happened upon an interesting scent originating from beneath the dirt. He sat down on his rump and meticulously groomed his paws, removing every last trace of earth.
Sorry for the late reply, I forgot to subscribe to the thread :o

Continuing on her path of the foreign scent, the burly female kept a steady pace. Her ears were swiveling more, her hackles lowered and tail swinging as she walked with her long legs. She hadn't been sent out here for anything, she was just wandering like how she used to as a lone a few days ago.

With the scent getting stronger, the female walked faster and increased her stride length, trying to waste little energy. Her ears started to stay pinned forward, her tail wagging softly in excitement. If this wolf, or somewhat half-wolf creature from the scent was friendly, she could maybe ask about the land or info about anything.

Finally, her ears perked up at the sight before her. It was a hole, large enough to fit a few foxes in. Dirt was sprawled everywhere as if it had just been dug up. Considering she was still farther away, she could not see the foxwolf up ahead. Her steps became short, filled with caution as her glassy eyes surveyed the area.

His tongue worked in between each toe, and he went so far as to suck at his nails just to ensure total cleanliness. Chewing and plucking was required to extract some of the more stubborn bits of dirt. He was not satisfied until he could wriggle his toes and feel nothing but his own skin and fur moving about, and until he could look upon his paw and see nothing out of place. By the time he had become aware of another wolf approaching him, he was setting the last paw to be cleaned back down in contentment. Job done.

"HI!" He called out, his blue eyes catching the large female down the path some. His tail waved, sweeping across the earth merrily. The bone was just beside him, not quite touching the side of his left paw.
Seeing a bounding ball of bright fire orange, the large female stopped in her tracks and looked at the strange colored wolf. He didn't smell like a entire wolf, nor did he look like one. He looked more like an alien to her than anything else, but with a similar body type.

Hearing his voice call out to her, the large female nodded her head towards him, almost a dip in respect. "Hello." She said calmly, taking a few more steps towards him. He looked as if he was just burning with happiness that radiated off of his coat. He looked smaller than her, although almost everything did considering she was just a giant ball of fluff and fur.

Taking a quick glance towards the dug up ground, she thought he was some sort of fox. His coat color shined the same color, considering the orange shade and the white he possesed. If there was a freshly dug up space, he had to have dug for something. Considering the standards, Krypton dubbed him as some sort of wolf-fox hybrid animal until e would introduce more info about himself to her.

"Why were you digging?" She asked, her voice filled with curiosity. Wolves do bury things, maybe it was his prey?
Roo was possessed. Not by spirits, or demons, but by his own instincts. They compelled him to act under certain circumstances, but he did not understand the involuntary responses he had to these situations and often tried to resist them. It was his most peculiar quirk, to say nothing of his naivety and weird understanding of many things.

"My nose!" he exclaimed. "It smelled something. It makes my paws dig. Look!" His jaws swooped down to grab the bone, around which he tried to talk. "Sheee?" He held the bone proudly. It was a small femur, likely that of a deer that had succumbed to predators some time ago.
Tilting her head in the slightest manner, the glassy eyes gazed at the orange wolf hybrid who held the small bone in his mouth. His nose compels him to do things without his brain giving the options of yes and no? Strange... but very interesting. I never knew that could happen, it's never happened to me before, so I guess that's why...

"It is quite a find." She said kindly, offering him a smile. "I have never been able to find anything that has a weak scent like bones." She said, a little embarrassed at herself. She had never been the greatest for tracking things below, unless it was fresh or had a strong smell, whether it was rot or fresh.

She took a few more steps closer towards him, her hackles and tail lowered, ears calmly set forward. "What are you doing out here all alone anyways? You would be an excellent scavenger for any pack here." She added, motioning over to the dirt pie with her neck. This animal was strange... but she liked different things from time to time.
She could never find bones? Roo's ears drooped. He loathed to get his paws dirty but he was always thrilled to find or unearth a bone. He liked to chew them, and even as the bone sat between his teeth now his jaw moved in a subtle chewing movement, something else he simply could not help. That she was unable to find bones made him a bit sad. But he was not to be kept down.

He dropped the bone. "Maybe your nose is being blocked!" He chirped, ignoring her question about himself in favor of his new, just now discovered quest to help her get her nose working. "Let me see!" She had already taken a coupe steps toward him, but now he moved right into her bubble (surely) to peer inquisitively at her nostrils.
Seeing how the orange fox-wolf was willing to help, he bounced over to her and examined her nose, way too close for her comfort. However, she only saw pure innocence in him, and if he tried anything on her it would be his own loss.

She felt a growl start to grow in her throat, but she bit her tongue and kept her mouth shut. He wasn't going to do anything bad, was he? She kept her eyes on him as he looked at her nose, particularly her nostrils.

Her nose hadn't failed her before, however she hadn't needed to use it since she was a loner. She held her face still for the orange ball of fluff and let him examine it. If it was being blocked, he could help her. She needed herself, all parts of her body, to be on top game for her pack. If he helps, maybe I can do better? Maybe he would join Silvertip too? I shouldn't push, I want to wait and give him time.
He peered into her nose, his head craning left, then right, one eye closing, and then the other eye closing as the first reopened. "I sees nothing!" He exclaimed, stamping the ground with a foot. It would be much more difficult to diagnose her nosing problems than he had thought. "I doos not know why its not so working right." He hummed, his brows furrowing above his bright blue eyes as he contemplated what else may be the problem. It did not occur to him of course that there was no problem, that she may have been born with a weaker sense of smell than he, her strengths lying elsewhere.

"Maybe you are not smelling hard enough. Try harder!" He instructs, gesturing to his bone with a paw, expecting that if she sniffed good enough she'd smell it from where she was.
As the ball of orange fur examined her nose, he quickly said to her how he did not know what the heck was wrong with her. He said it was not blocked, so what could it be? The burly female felt heat rush to her face in embarrassment and gave a shy smile. It was ridiculous that a large wolf her size would act to scared in front of strangers. With a larger size, she should be boasting wit confidence. But it seemed almost every wolf out there absorbed it away from her. Even this wolf-fox seemed to have more courage than her.

She looked at him with quizzical eyes as he told her to try harder. Was it just a lack of effort? She nodded her head at his words, and taking a deep whiff with her nose, pointed closer to the bone on the ground.

Again, she smelt nothing but the wolf-fox and the land around her. Slowly, the scent started to become stronger with every breath. It wasn't as strong as she had hoped, but strong enough where she could name it off even if she was blindfolded.

"I can smell it. It's just not very strong." She said softly, her tail cuddling her left hind leg. With a sigh, she sat on her haunches on let her ears fall to the sides of her head, a half-pout on her face. She really wished she had a better nose that could smell as strongly as this orange fox-wolf. "My nose has been somewhat... damaged a little while ago." She said quietly, her voice filled with a somber tone at the memories of her dark past.
She did as he told her too, and he grinned foolishly. He was confident that this was her problem, and that as she sniffed harder she would smell the bone and know that she was not broken. He waited with baited breath, his body quivering slightly with the anticipation. She sniffed, and sniffed, and at last announced that she could smell the bone, but that the scent was not strong.

"What is happened to your nose?" He asks, cocking his head to the side. "It does not matter. You smelling it! Trying harder worked!" He exclaimed, his tail swishing jovially. "It just old bone. It never smell strong," he explained. "It not like... like..." Roo paused as he searched for a strong smell to compare to. "Skunk!" Eau de black and white mustelid could be smelled from a long ways off, but not an old bone.
Seeing how the wolf-fox asked about her damaged nose, the burly female tied her tongue up in her mouth. No way was she going to tell about Silver, no way no how. However, the orange ball of fluff skipped over it like a stone in a river. He at least praised her and himself for asking her to put more effort into her nose.

When he spoke about the bone's weak scent, she at least felt more comfortable with it. He wasn't going to pick on her like she had feared he would. Although, he never did it in the beginning, so why would he now? She shook her head at the thoughts and focused back onto the orange wolf-fox. He spoke about a strong scent to compare to the bone. At first he looked puzzled, almost as if he had nothing to say for a moment.

It then clicked and he spoke about a animal named a skunk. Krypton flattened her ears at the mention of a skunk. Small, ferocious creatures who had no dignity for themselves or the life around them. Always stole food from those who worked and left a horrid stench wafting through the air. She lashed her tail the tiniest bit at the mention of the skunk. "Skunks do have a bad smell, many roamed around my homeland before I left." She said to the orange hybrid.
last post for me! :)

She did not like skunks, he could see this in the way she flattened her ears and lashed her tail. Roo, on the other hand, held no real distaste of any creature. Then again, he had never been so unfortunate to have received a dosing of the sticky mess skunks were known to deliver. If he had, perhaps he may feel differently about those critters, which he largely viewed as harmless. Not eatable, not a threat like a coyote, but harmless.

"There were some at home too," he said with a nod. "I was being told not to go near to them so I leave them alone. They leave me alone too!" Indeed, as long as he kept his distance, the skunks were content to amble along minding their own business.

A gurgle from his stomach alerts him to his hunger, and he pinches his brows and gives her an apologetic look. "It is nice talking to the you," he said, "you are very nice. But I am going to go find eatables. Maybe we say hello again sometime!" With a grin and a wave of his tail, he quickly takes his leave, bounding gracefully away, only to realize he had forgotten his bone. He scurried back to snatch it with a giggle, and then scampered off.
Thanks for letting me RP with the adorable fox wolf :D

Seeing how the fox-wolf agreed with her how there were many roaming around their old homes and how to avoid them, she couldn't help but smile at him. She had only one encounter, and it did not end very good. Hearing how the fluff ball's stomach made a protest to find food, she looked at him with calm eyes.

He spoke about going to have to find food, she merely nodded at him. The male then picked up a bouncy pace off to go hunt, but then realizing he forgot his prize from digging. With a quick run back and a giggle escaping his lips, he bounded off again. Krypton felt happy to have spoken to such a kind animal that held nothing positive, only kindness. She smiled at him "I hope to see you again!" She called to him as he bounded away, then she turned on her heels to continued on her path of exploration. She wouldn't take that wolf-fox into a pack. No, he deserved his freedom to be happy and wander wherever his paws would take him. Laughing, the female picked up an even-paced trot and headed towards a new area of trees yet to be explored and mapped.
