Daddy-Son bonding time :D

Pietro had grown bored of sitting in his den. Kendra was fun and all, but Pietro wanted to see things he couldn't see without the help of an adult. He missed his dad, so maybe with some convincing, @Burke would bring him out, and show him around, and hopefully meet some new wolves. He walked slowly to the opening of the den, and let out a bark-howl. He was calling for his father. Still sitting, he placed one paw out to leave an imprint in the white fluffy snow. This made him giggle, so he put two paws in the snow. He started placing his paws on and off the cold snow, making quick, messy paw prints in the snow as he waited for his father to come. He squealed in joy. He was quickly stopped as a scary black bird flew from the trees, startled from his squeak. He ducked his head as the bird flew away.
Yay!

Sebastian came into the clearing just as his boy was startled by a raven. He raised one dotted brow in question. "Not scared of a bird I hope?," he asked. Though, surprisingly it didn't sound mean, just a bit worried. Sebastian nudged him in greeting expecting his son to greet him back in an orderly manner.  He nosed through his fur, Pietro seemed more than okay. "What is wrong? You called?," he asked. Luckily he had been close otherwise he wouldn't have heard his call. Was Nemesis still trying to do the babysitting? He would have to check up on that.

The single father looked down at his son and then sat down. He was a mini him really. He had the gangly legs he had when he was younger. He wondered if Pietro would also get his bulk like him and Sebastian. Only time would tell. The only thing different was that his baby blue eyes were turning more into the shade of Meldresi's eyes. He missed her.
Pietro wagged his tail when his father appeared. "Not scared." He said in the biggest, toughest voice he could muster out. He watched as a larger version of himself sat down. He jumped up of his back legs, and placed his front legs on his fathers stocky chest. His eyes were as bright as the sun, he was clearly excited to see his father. The pup looked happily at his father. "Look around? Pietro asked. He really wanted to see the territory, he saw the same thing everyday. "Meet friends?" He added. He really wanted to see new pack members also. The pup waited for his beloved father to answer, hopefully positively.
Burke quirked his lips up a tiny bit but his eyes were fond. "Good, we need though guys," he spoke to the pup and then was eagerly greeted by his son. Okay, Burke had to admit that it was rather adorable. He watched Pietro's tail wag excitedly. The father looked at the pup skeptically. "Look around, huh?," he questioned, glancing over his son. The fact that he asked permission for it and not headed out on his own was rather impressive. "Okay, why not," he returned.

Burke gotten to his feet. "Is your sister around too or is she exploring?," he asked. He then peeked into the den to see that Kendra was out. Hm.. Hopefully she would be okay. Maybe she was with Nemesis. "You want to see the borders?," he asked with a mysterious tone in his voice. It was a bit of a walk since they were in the middle of the territory but maybe the boy would like to see the borders and what his father did when he was away. They knew after all that Burke would of patrol the borders. "Maybe we run into some packets too"
Pietro wagged his tail. He was a tough guy. He puffed out his chest and stood confidently. His tail wouldn't stop wagging, but he didn't notice. It probably made him look less tough than he thought. He walked slowly, eyes closed in slits and he circled his father. He was pretty clumsy, tripping every once and a while. He stopped, and stuck his butt in the air. He laughed and ran forward and tackled his father. Well, his version of tackling, the young pup was still too small to affect his tank of a father. He crawled under him, the jumped out from under him. "Tough guy!" Pietro yelped, his tail still going. "Let's go!" he said as he excitedly ran forward, still in his fathers sight.
At least Burke couldn't deny that Pietro was very active and alive. It was a good sign that the young male was healthy and ready to explore and play. Burke nudged him as he tried to tackle him. "Oh yes, very tough," he laughed. Burke started walking Pietro running in front of him, which was fine with him. It meant that the tank would get more sleep tonight since Pietro would be tired. Burke walked with Pietro, getting more and more out of the heart of the territory to the border. He would go to the border where where wasn't any swamp. He was going to introduce that to him later. He didn't want him to go there on his own acting all tough.

Burke came closer, as they walked he started explaining. "So these are our lands, our forest. We don't like wolves that aren't part of our family so we mark the borders with our scent to tell others, hey don't cross this line. If they do then those wolves will be killed. We don't allow trespassers. A trespasser is someone who crosses our border," Burke explained. He wasn't going to use another way of talking, they would know soon enough what murder was. Sometimes they even marked the borders with blood or bodies of trespassers but that was something for later. "It is the job of some wolves to help me mark the borders," he added as they came closer, the forest becoming less dense, lighter.
Pietro slowed down, his eyes scouring the land as his father explained scent markers. The part about killing didn't really faze him, he took his fathers knowledge in, and what his father said was right was right. Death was something he had experienced before, but it was much tougher. Killing lives that endangered the ones he loved would mess with his head quite to much. As Pietro followed he to had noticed the forest grew lighter, this new light was foreign, and he squinted, though he still kept pace with his father.
Burke looked at his mini-him as he was surprisingly quiet. Maybe it was all very excited for the boy, or maybe he was just taking this all in. The father gave him a comforting nudge as they stepped closer. He brought Pietro to a tree that he scent marked only yesterday. "Here smell this," he pointed out. He wanted to see his reaction, and to see if his son recognized his scent. Later he would take him to another one that was older, so he could sense the difference between them. It would be valuable information for later in his life. The wintery sun was brighter here and he looked at Pietro to see if he was adjusting well.

He then looked a bit more strictly at his son. "Pietro, if you go over this borders you come and tell me okay?," he spoke with a seriousness in his tone. "It is not that you aren't allowed to explore outside of BFW but I'd like to know when you leave so I can go looking for you if something is wrong. Do you promise?"
Pietro sniffed the scent marker. It was very strong, but he couldn't say for sure who's it was. "New marker? Daddy's scent?" he guessed. He was pretty positive it was a new scent, and he did believe that it was his fathers. Pietro felt the turn of mood when his father became serious. He listened carefully and nodded. "I promise." he paused "Are there other packs?" he asked. "Or just our home?"
Burke nodded at his son. "Daddy made that mark yesterday when he was doing patrols," he explained to him. He was glad that Pietro promised him not to go too far. The large male would at least have some rest knowing that at least one of the two was informed about their borders. "There are other packs, but they not family. They are not Black Feather. Black Feather Woods is your home," he spoke to Pietro. It was probably already pretty clear to the youngster that this was his home but Burke didn't mind pressing some more importance to it.

Burke walked further expecting Pietro to follow him. He moved to another marker and make the pup smell it. This one was older and faint. He looked to see if the pup noticed that.
Pietro understood his fathers explanation. He would never leave, he wouldn't dream of going anywhere without Kendra and Burke. He quickly caught up to him and bowed down to sniff the scent. It was harder for him to pick up, he couldn't tell if it was an old marking, or leftover scent from the last smell still left on his nose. "Is this an old one?" he asked. He sniffed it again and nodded, then looked back up at his father.
Burke nodded instantly. "Yes, very good," he praised and nudged him in praise. The father was trying to be a father and mother at the same time. He knew he could be a bit harsh sometimes but that didn't mean he wasn't proud of them. Pietro was doing very well. "Do you see yourself marking borders one day?," he asked to him. Just curious. "You can tell me if you don't like it. Maybe you like hunting better. But that is something for later." The alpha already tried to have his kids find their passions so it would be easier for them to focus on the things they liked doing.
Pietro wagered his tail and smiled at his fathers praise. When Burke popped his question, Pietro got a but nervous. He had been thinking about it sometimes. He wanted to patrol border very badly, because he could be with Burke, and he wanted to stay active because he had so much energy. Hunting sounded ok, but he didn't have that spark like he did with patrolling. He quickly nodded at his father, his eyes wide and his mouth drawn wide to a smile "I wanna patrol with you!"
Burke smiled a bit at his enthusiasm. It would be nice to have a little recruit helping him at times. "How about you go join me when you are a bit older? You deserve to play. Borders can be dangerous place and you are a bit too young to be in fights. I wouldn't want you hurt." Burke knew it didn't happen too often but if he would take Pietro on patrol when he was only 2,5 months old then you were asking for trouble. Plus Pietro couldn't walk all the miles he did. He would be exhaust if not over worked.

"How about we practice your super fighting skills one day? You like that?," he tried to reason. He didn't want to kick down his motivation. He remembered how excited Damien was to play fight with him and become a warrior.
Pietro's eyes instantly went sad when his father said no to patrolling right now, but he understood it and quickly got over it. He stuck his chest out and smiled. "Lets practice now!" he said and laughed. He bared his teeth playfully, no sign of aggression. His eyes were closed and his ears were laid back. It looked like he was smiling. His tail was wagging, and he open his eyes for a quick second to see if Burke fled.
Burke snorted in laugher. Pietro seemed really excited, which was good. It meant his tactic worked and his son was still motivated. Still Burke knew that they had to walk all the way back. "How about we do that on another day, we can walk the border now." Burke had a little idea in mind to make it a bit of a game for his son. A fun game.

"How about you point out where the scent isn't strong and then we mark it together. That sounds fun doesn't it?," he offered. Yeah, he could do this. He was totally the fun dad right now. Burke was only planning to do a small strip of the borders but it did gave Pietro some time to processing smelling scents more.
Pietro nodded as his father suggested a fun new game. Super training would have to wait. He thought he would be walking the entire Blackfeather woods border, but he didn't have to know he wasn't. He walked along the border for a bit when smelling a fresh, pungent marking. He got closer and sniffed one more time. "I think this one is newer." he said. As he said that, he sounded very grown up to himself. He stood and waited calmly until his father would speak. He believed he got it right, if he didn't, he would just have to give it some more work. His eyes were wide and bright, and his stance was proud, yet excited.
Burke followed his son along the border, as he pointed out which one was newer. "Well, yes. I want you to find the ones that are weak so we can mark them. This one is still new enough so it doesn't need a mark," he explained. Maybe it was a too difficult task for him, seeing that the had to smell the less stronger ones, not the strong ones. "You were close," he tried to encourage him.

Burke wasn't going to give hints, he wanted Pietro to find the scents himself. It would only make him more proud. He could see that his son was excited. Burke liked that he was so enthusiastic at least they had found several things they could do together.
"Sorry." he muttered quietly, because he was already walking on. His little nose moved quickly along the border. He stopped and backed up. His stuck his nose closer to what smelt like a marker, but it was so faint, he didn't completely know. He moved his body around it, trying to smell it from a different angle. "I think this one needs to be marked." Pietro said. His eyes were serious. He would surely grow up o be a wolf that takes things very seriously.
The father shook his head. "Don't apologize," he returned. Especially now Pietro was young he wanted him to learn that it was not always needed to say sorry. Burke watched him. It was cute to see him so excited, yet serious. "Very good," Burke praised. The male then walked forward and scratched his nails over the tree. "See you can mark it, but you can also scent mark it by running yourself against it or just peeing against it," he explained the young male. Hopefully that wouldn't result the young boy to pee on everything. Burke realized this only after he said that. Hmm, maybe not the smartest thing to tell a young boy he could pee on things.
Pietro mimicked Burkes movements as he scratched his nails against the tree. It was a weird movement, so it was probably a little sloppy compared to his father. When his father said you could pee on things to mark them, he got confused for a second. "Is that how you mark things you can't scratch?" he asked and cocked his head. He leaned in to smell the marking he just made. It had a faint scent, but you could still smell it. She leaned over to smell his fathers, which had a much clearer scent. He frowned a bit and went back to his marking. He ran his claws down the tree again, stripping pieces of bark off, and a little bit of tree juice came out. He sniffed again, his scent was a bit clearer. He looked confidently at his father. He was beaming, he felt so proud. Doing this job with his father made him feel so important. His fathers approval meant everything to him.
Burke was surprised by Pietro's intelligence. The father nodded. "Yes, indeed," he spoke. Though then he laughed softly as Pietro tried smelling the claw markings. Burke licked his lips. "The marks on the trees like that are more visual markings," he explained to his son. They didn't gave off much scent but if more tress were marked like this a loner would know a pack had sharpened their nails. Not that they could retract like a cat did but they could be sharp, and sharp nails could do damage too in a fight.

Burke watched how proud his son was and then tackled him gently. It seems the alpha was actually playing with his son right now. "Oh you are so big already! Helping me mark the borders," he let out and playfully jumped around. It was a rare sight, but he liked to reward his son with playtime. Cuddles would come later at night. And play was very important for Pietro. It was how he developed.
Pietro felt Burke flop down in him. Pietro laughed as his father jumped around. He stuck his butt in the air and wiggled his tail. "I'm gonna get you!" Pietro yelped as he ran forward. He barreled into his father, which even with Pietro begging to grow more, didn't affect his father much. When he got up he ran back to face Burke. His eyes were bright and his tail was wagging so hard it could knock over trees. Pietro was happy he got to spend some fun time with his father. He bared his teeth playfully. Every tooth could be seen, his ears stood straight up to a point, and eyes eyes were closed. He puffed out his chest and stood tall. He knew this would scare off his father. He waited, and opened one eye to see if Burke had run already.
Burke watched Pietro trying to attach him and bump into him. It had indeed not much effect at all. Then the father watched how Pietro closed his eyes. He should never do that in a 'battle'. And since Pietro attacked him Burke found that they were in a very playful battle. Burke quietly moved hind Pietro, without making a single sound. When he would open his eyes, Burke would jump him. Just to startle him slightly. Burke smirked slightly. "Never close your eyes except when you are safe and ready to sleep."
Pietro opened his eyes to hear his fathers voice, but his father wasn't there. He pelt twitched as he felt two eyes staring in the back of him. Pietro crouched down, trying to have his father jump straight over him. Pietro was a tiny target, but his father was a skilled fighter. He couldn't think of any other moves in the heat of the moment, and he didn't want to expose his belly.
