For @Root!

Rising Sun Valley was so huge and beautiful, it almost made Ishi's heart hurt (but in the best possible way). It was very nearly dawn, and Ishi was taking full advantage of being a grown-up, exploring the moonlit lands and memorising the landmarks in his quest to become a Scout. He was also keeping a sharp eye out for mountain lions but... to his disappointment he hadn't met any at all yet.

Never mind. There was still a lot to his new life, and he was enjoying it immensely. Right now he stood atop one of the biggest boulders at the highest point of Bearclaw Valley, surveying the landscape and committing it to memory with a flourish.
Why she's out at this hour, she isn't sure, but the threat of daylight is on the horizon and her nose is tickled by something she's been unable to follow. Root's been quiet in the depths of Lost Creek Hollow but so had the others. Even her sister. It didn't faze her too much, she was just glad they were home together and in one place again. She loathes to think something might happen again, separating the two once more, and each step further away from her home leaves a weird sinking feeling in her stomach.

The scent of another distracts her, and even reminds of her of her new home, but the sight she sees when she finally finds him puts both brows between her eyes in confusion. There'd been a new wolf she hadn't met, and others before she didn't get to know before they disappeared. She blames her own quietness, sticking into the background, but she'd noticed this one around a little bit more than the others. Maybe it wasn't going to disappear, but then again, what were they doing all the au out here?

Root lifts her nose a little, canting upward at the strange looking creature, before she chuffs her presence to make sure he sees her.
Ishi was in incredibly good spirits. He had done some marvellous scouting already and the landscape was so darn beautiful. He stood atop the boulder like a young knight, the breeze ruffling his white fur dramatically, the early dawnlight forcing his eyes into a pensive-looking squint.

His soft muzzle turned downwards quickly as he saw a subtle, lissome creature pad towards him. Hello new friend! he decided (such was his good mood). Any idea what this place is called? He had a map in his head and wanted to plonk a proper name down on this glorious valley.
He speaks to her, friendly, and she flashes him a smile so neither of them have to worry. Her tail increases in speed and she stands on the ground below the rock he’d taken claim of, looking for the easiest way up out of habit. He’d gotten up there somehow and while she won’t follow him up, she’s curious what the view offers a little higher off the ground than her regular four feet.

“I don’t,” she offers with a shrug and glances behind her. “We could name it though?”  The names of the nearby territories have escaped her and only filled in what one of the longer members of the hollow have told her. She’d come from an entirely different world and having to relearn things over when she’d been so comfortable before is frustrating.
The boy gave a firm, decisive nod, as if the stranger's conclusion was the most natural one anyone had ever come to. Yes, they had to name it! Come on up, he invited brightly, nodding to his side as he sat there on the boulder. She probably couldn't see from where she was standing, but there was a series of smaller boulders behind this one, keeping it in place and allowing easy access to the big one.

Once they were both up here and had the same view, they could work on naming. He only had one so far: Awesome Valley.
He sends her an invitation to come up and Root shakes her tail a few times, head tilting to the side until she notes the direction of his own. She takes a few steps to the side to see the trail of smaller rocks leading to his chosen spot. A burst of energy pushes her forward, almost a run for the short distance, and she bounds her way up rock over rock until she makes the final jump onto his. Her landing is smooth or without fault and she nearly slips. Her heart sinks and then propels into her throat but she catches herself, straightens out her shoulders, and plots her butt down to lower her center of gravity.

"I'm Root," she introduces with a swing of her head to the fluffy thing. He doesn't quite look like a wolf but, at the same time, he does. "I've noticed your scent around but hadn't found you. I don't know how I didn't see  you!" she chuckles and grins, hoping it doesn't come across negatively. He did stick out like a sore thumb. "What names are we thinking?"
Ishi looked round and watched as Root made her way up to join him on the boulder, her venture a combination of graceful and wary. He stood to help, but shortly sat down again — it seemed she could handle herself. Ah you're from Lost Creek Hollow too! he realised when she introduced herself. Had he not been balanced on a rock, he would have sprang with enthusiasm. He supposed he hadn't caught her scent just now because she'd been downwind.

Root's a cool name. Mine's Ayishik, but Ishi for short, he replied brightly. He paused as a brainwave hit him. We kind of could call this place Rootishi Valley...
Her brows furrow a little when he has his revelation but she hadn’t considered he didn’t smell her but she shakes it off anyway once it settles in. She smiles and bobs her head a few times before he introduces himself. The name mentally rolls around a few times in her head before she every attempts to say it but the saving grace of his name shorthand felt a little better.

Root gives the proposed name a few seconds to sink in but a smile forms on her face when she realizes what he’d done. She softly chuckles before she tilts her head, glancing across the valley. Following the similar way of naming, she pipes up: “What about iShoot Valley?”

Who knew Root was apart of the NRA?
iShoot, he repeated with a laugh. I feel like it should have lots of fast streams around for that. He was pretty much joking, though — these were all really fun names. There's always Rooish... or, like, we could squish all the names together and call it Rootishootroo Valley. Totally dignified name for a beautiful land like this, right?

He grinned as he looked out over the silvery-green expanse once more. The valley did indeed look rather ancient and proud. He could almost feel it frowning at their silliness.
Laughter bubbles out the corner of her mouth as her newest companion throws over names together, including one that just seems ridiculous she's not even sure she can pronounce it. "Rootish... what?" she chuckles a few times but she's not even sure. All the names sound okay to her, without much of a desire, but her newest friend seemed set on such a thing. Her tail thumps against the rock beneath her.

"This spot could be named Ishi's Lookout?" she offers in lieu of the valley. The view is pretty good and he did find it, after all. Whatever name they come up with for the valley might not compare to what she's given her pack mate as a place of his own.
The boy chuckled along with his new friend as she made the very good point that his name for the place was bordering on too silly. It seemed the valley would have to go without a name for now, but Ishi was certain it had one lying around here somewhere. They could hardly be the first two wolves to discover it, after all. They'd just have to ask around.

Ishi's Lookout... I really like that as a name for this particular bit, he said gratefully. Then he stood up, careful to stay balanced on the boulder. Shall we find a bit to name after you, Root? he proposed, enthused by the brainwave.
Sorry I have been so slow. :(

Her new friend liked the name chosen for the rock and she smiles, beaming with a sudden bit of pride. It was a strange feeling but enough to keep the smile on her face. The young girl settles in comfortably, perhaps even offering an inch or two closer to the fluffy male as the wind whips around them. "I would like that," she offers and together, they spitfire a few names out that might suit her.
