For @Laika

Spring yawned, as she awoke, then padded out from her smaller den.  Her gaze shifting over the Maplewood as she stood.  It was night and the stars were out and shinning, so was the moon.  Spring felt a crisp wind slice through her fur, but other than that it was pretty quiet.  Except for a few owls hooting and a couple howls sounding in the distance.  Spring started to pad into the Maplewood going on a nighttime walk.

As Spring padded through the Maplewood she thought of how just the day before she had had a talk with Esaro about his goals in life.  She smiled when she remembered how he had mentioned Laika in the conversation and how focused he had become on her.  She smiled at the thought of the two of them.  Esaro seemed to have feelings for Laika, but she still had no idea if her friend returned those feelings back.  She wondered if she would have a mate... someday.
Laika yawned. Her ears twitched as a quiet sound reached her ears. The female's eyes opened ever so slightly, peering around at her surroundings from thin slits. Then, movement caught her eye. Was it a deer? No. The figure was much to small. Could it be a raccoon? No, too tall.

She rolled on her side and opened her orbs wider, staring intently at the sollouett. It was another wolf! In fact, it was Spring! She fought the urge to spring forward and catch her friend's attention, and decided to sneak along and follow her. She smirked to herself at this secret game. It was her favorite thing to do.

Her tail sailed just inches above the ground as she slunk across the ground and slithered into the undergrowth, following Spring to the unknown destination.

Finally, she couldn't take it anymore. It was just too fun to scare Spring. She bunched her muscles and leapt from her cover, giving a bark and landing at  Speings side, tail wagging, and tongue lolling.
Spring gave out a loud scared, startled Yelp.  She spun around to face her attacker, eyes narrowing and a growl seeping from her throat.  Teeth bared.

Suddenly just as Spring was about to attack this extremely random attacker, she stopped.  Wait... is that Laika?  Spring thought quizzically to herself.  The. She started to laugh as she realized that the figure was indeed Laika.

Spring batted her friend playfully on the nose.  "You nearly scared the life out of me Laika!"  Spring accused friendly and teasingly, still laughing.  This was one of the reasons why Laika was one of her best, closest friends.  She loved to pull tricks on her.  Spring enjoyed her sometimes playful personallity.

"I'll get you back!  You had better be watching your back."  Spring teased Laika with a smile.  She wondered if she would ever get Laika back, the thought made her smile.
Laika was a bit startled as Spring prepared to jump, but saw her relax and broke out giggling very quietly. She sat down on her rump and listened to her talk about getting her back.

"Sure. Okay Spring." She teased, even though she knew it was a high probability that the she-wolf would strike back.

Then, she got down to business. What was she doing here? Why was she out here at night anyways?

"So tell me, what are you doing out here so late at night. I nearly thought you were a raccoon."  She said.

An owl sounded in the trees a couple yards away, and the bushes shivered from a late night wind. She sighed and began to relax in the unusual music of the moonlight.
Spring yawned.  "Well... I don’t really know.”  She began to respond to Laika’s question about why she was out.  “I guess I just wanted to stretch my limbs.”  The multicolored female remarked, then she found herself wondering why Laika was out.

“What about you Laika?  What are you doing out so late?”  Spring asked curiously, bouncing back Laika’s question to face her, though she really wondered what Laika’s response would be to her returning question.  WouldLaika just answer the same as she had?
Laika nodded as Spring replied, and her ears twitched as she asked her the question. She answered truthfully.

"It was hard for me to fall asleep, and I ended up just laying in my den for a long while. Then, your silhouette wandered across my sight and I figured it should check it out, just in case. Turns out, it wasn't much of a threat."

She laughed and her blue eyes wandered around their surroundings.

"It's quite beautiful here at night, isn't it?"

It was never this unique at her old home. It was usually damp and drowsy with a few crickets and toads sounding here and there. But here, the moonlight brought out the greenness of the forest and caused the leaves to seem to glow.
Spring found herself wondering why Laika could not fall asleep, but decided not to ask.  Maybe it was personal.  Maybe not, but it just didn’t seem all to important compared to other things.  Spring glanced up at the starry night sky as Laika expressed her love for the Maplewood.  She nodded.

“It is quite beautiful.  Very beautiful indeed.”  Spring respond with passion in her voice.  "I love the Maplewood’s here too and how they seem to tower above us, it makes me feel...”  Spring paused thinking for a brief moment.  “It makes me feel protected.”  Spring finished truthfully, because it did make her feel more protected, even though she did not know why...
Laika agreed as she glanced up at the massive trees, their branches seeming to reach out to the moon while protecting them at the same time. The silvery leaves trembled and shook as a cool, midnight breeze slithered through.

She figured that since the two obviously could not find rest, they might as well do something together.

"Well, I guess we both cannot fall asleep, so what shall we go about doing now?" She inquired.

Her speckled eyes searched the woods for some idea of what to do. Her mind was completely empty at the moment.
Spring nodded in agreement, then pondered on what they should do.  “Hunt maybe?”  She remarked.  Then suddenly a devilish teasing glow light in her eyes.  “Or we could spar if you would like Laika.”  Spring paused for a moment for effect.  “Unless your too scared.”  She added in a playful taunt, as she awaited her good friend’s answer.
The female brow lifted just a bit as Spring mention sparring and she lowered herself into a playful bow, tail beginning to thrash.

"Oh, I'm not too scared, but are you?" She teased back.

Her eyes were focused entirely on Spring now, Any tiny movement elsewhere was noted, but her attention never faltered. A sly grin twisted the corners of her mouth.
Dice Rolls:
1-3:  Leaps but epically misses and hits a tree
4-7:  Perfect Hit on Opponent
8:  Face Plant
9:  Suddenly having the urge to chase their tail and loose focus
10:  Pinning Player To The Ground

Whoever gets pinned and/or gets a perfect hit on them three five looses

Spring slunk into a play bow, and lashed her tail playfully.  “You are so on.”  She growled teasingly, yet challengingly back to her  best friend.  Ready for their friendly spar to take place.  She smirked and lashed her tail again excitedly, enthusiastic for the spar to take place.
Oh my goodness, I am so dead. Laika rolled a 8

Laika lowered herself into the same playful bow, tail lashing with confidence. Her blue orbs narrowed and her focus was locked on Spring - no where else.  She waited for a few moments to make her move, building up the tension in the air before bounding a few strides and preparing to leap at her friend.

Her paw snagged on a twig, hidden within the shadows of the moonlight, and a clump of green grass. She let out a yelp, her back end flying above her and she went toppling over, landing on he face.  Now, she was perfectly vulnerable to Spring.
Spring rolled an 5!

Spring almost burst out laughing at Laika’s epic failure, but silenced herself deciding to take advantage of this moment.  She simply padded over to Laika and batted her head down.  Shoving her face further into the snow with a satisfactory and teasing grin.
Laika rolled a 7!!

Laika chuffed with frustration as Spring performed a perfect blow, knocking her focus away.  She then gathered herself together, pulling herself up quickly before Spring could land another attack.  She bunched her muscles and sprang, being careful not to trip again, and this time was able to whack Spring upon her shoulder with much force, careful to keep her claws from ripping skin.

She smirked with triumph as she darted out of reach, satisfied with the force of her blow, and the embarrassment of the earlier face plant faded.  In her head, she thought of another move to continue on the spar.
Spring rolled a 10!

Spring yelped, surprise in her gaze as Laika whacked her shoulder.  Not expecting the attack she jumped back, momentarly startled.  She shook the attack off, shaking her pelt out.  She acted like she was disinterested in fighting momentarily than barreled into Laika, pinning her friend to the ground with a strong shove.  Though she was careful not to hurt Laika.

Spring smirked then padded a few paces back, waiting to see how Laika could beat that!  Spring eyed Laika with anticipation, waiting for the attack that was bound to take place within seconds.  She lashed her tail, stiffening her posture and fluffed out her coat trying to look intimidating.
UUrrrghh! This is so funny! She has no luck today. Laika rolled a 2. :D

Laika lashed her tail, her front have bowing down as she bunched her muscles, just as Spring leaped upon her. They crashed to the ground in the flurry of tails and limbs. With a huff, Laika pushed her friend off. She bunched her muscles and spring once again. But, Spring was faster at the moment and sidestepped, leaving Laika to hit a tree with a crash.

She groaned in frustration and pain as she hauled herself up once again, a sly grin on her face as she glared playfully at Spring.
Spring Rolled a 10!

As Spring sidestepped, she yelped, startled as Laika made impact with of course nothing out... a tree!  ...That sure did sound and look like so much fun...  She felt momentarily fearful that her friend had been hurt in the process, but felt a moment of relief as she noticed Laika was okay.  She flashed back her own playful grin.

Spring bunched up her haunches then sprang landing squarely on Laika and shoving her to the ground with force, though careful not to hurt her friend.  “Gotcha!”  Spring exclaimed teasingly with a smirk.  Then hoped off her friend, awaiting Laika’s own attack... or maybe she would just run into a tree or face plant again.
Laika rolled at 4! Hoorah!

Laika let out a huff a she hit the ground, staring up at Spring with determined eyes. She brought her hind legs up and pushed up on Spring's belly, shoving her off and twisting out of her reach before landing another attack.

She crouched and slunk forward, ducking Spring's attempts at defending herself and landing a perfect blow across her two front legs, knocking them out from beneath her and sending her sprawled out on the ground. She laughed and darted out of reach again. She may not have had the best of luck so far, but she still had her self taught moves!
Spring rolls an 8!

A leap of faith...
That is exactly what Spring did...

She sprang into the air aiming for Laika.  The breeze rushed through her pelt as she took liftoff.  It was like flying, soaring... like a bird through the sky... it was an amazing feeling, to be free!... until she fell short and face planted right in front of Laika.

Spring was startled as she felt her face ram into the hard ground, and felt her herself topple over backwards with, as she gave out a startled yelp.  Her eyes widened as she flip flopped to the ground in a daze.  Slowly she pulled herself to her paws, still a little unfocused and dizzy from her tumble.
Laika rolled a 10!

Spring was sailing through the air and for a split second, she thought that Spring would actually leap in her. Then, her instincts caught up and she leapt out of the way as fast as she could. No need though, because Spring had already fallen short, face planting in the earth.

Holding back a giggle, Laika almost forgot to strike back. With a sudden jolt of surprise, she felt herself leap into the air as well. Her eyes narrowed as she focused on her friend, who was now getting up.  Just as Spring had gained her footing, Laika was bowling her over.

The two toppled to the dirt, Laika on top. She smiled and held on tight, though she was careful not to hurt Spring.
Spring Rolled a 10!

Spring felt herself pinned by Laika, for a few moments it stayed that way until Spring put a ton of energy into flipping her over, so that she was now on top of her friend, pinning Laika now.  She smirked teasingly and let out a small laugh.  This was fun!
Laika rolled a 10!!

Laika laughed as Spring shoved her into the earth, flipping the two over so she was now on top. She looked up at Spring with a challenging stare as she rolled to the side and pulled herself up.

She got down in a playful now again and leaped, pinning her friend once again! She laughed as she now looked down at her.

"How's the weather down there?"  She joked, tail wagging.
O.O  So many 10 rolls

Spring flashed Laika a playful grin at her question.  “It’s fine, but I am so very sure it could be better.”  She commented, then quickly flipped her friend over once again, so that now she, Spring, was on top one more.  Spring just couldn’t hide her smile.

“The weather is just wonderful now though.”  She remarked playfully, in a teasing tone.  As she stared down at her friend, pinned underneath her.  “How is this lovely weather for you though, Laika?”  Spring asked her friend in a mocking tone of voice.
Laika rolled a 6!! Sorry for the long wait, I was dealing with some personal stuff the past few days.

Laika smirked and said, "You know, it could be better." She frowned in mock disappointment.

Without a second for Spring to react, she lashed out with her paw. It was a perfect hit, shoving her friend off her and onto the dirt below. She sprang out of the way, tail wagging and tongue lolling with glee.
Spring rolled a 6!

Spring yelped as she was nailed by Laika, and shoved into the snowy ground.  She felt a little bit of icy snow fill her mouth and she almost instantly spat it out as she got back to her paws.  Tail lashing, determine to nail her friend back as she approached Laika in a stalk.

Suddenly Spring veered to the side then swerved back towards Laika, ramming her to the ground.  Spring trotted a few feet away, pep in her step.  “Of course I know it could be better.”  Spring muttered in a teasing tone.  “It just did.”  She smirked.
