Ever since that day Sebastian caught a fish for her, she's been wanting to learn to catch them too. She was a hunter so she needed to know how to catch everything. It was hard to think that the Knights never ever thought about fishing. She was considered a master hunter but how could see continue to say that when there was something related that she didn't master at all. Today she decided to put some time aside so she could do a little fishing.

Once she was at the nearby lake she looked at what the water had to offer. There were fish swimming around close to where she was. These weren't as big as the one Sebastian caught but they looked like go catches. She lowered herself at the edge, hiding in some tall grass and keeping an eye on her target. Once a fish got close she moved quickly and lunged into the water. The moment she splashed in she lost sight of the fish so she tried to catch anything with her jaws. Nothing but cold water and she even ended up choking a little. Where she was wasn't deep and she could stand while keep her head above water.

She turned around and climbed out of the water while coughing a little. Once she was out she shook her furs and went back into her hiding position. She didn't even get close to catching it, maybe she was just unlucky. But as she looked back into the water it wasn't clear anymore. She couldn't see anymore fish. Looks like she was going to have to wait until another one comes close. She hoped that it wouldn't take too long.
Since coming to Broken Antler Fen, Pearl hadn't gotten the chance to go fishing. She knew it would be a big difference from the coast, where all she had to do was trot down to the tide pools to simply scoop up the trapped salt-water fish. It certainly was a change, not smelling the salty air or feeling the splashes of free, powerful ocean water whenever she wanted on the cliffs. Perhaps she's go back and visit sometime.

Arriving at the same lake Kinra was at, though unaware of her presence since she went back to her hiding place, She sat by the edge, observing the water for any fish. For a self-taught fisher, she was good from her time as a loner, but it wasn't what she was going for specialty-wise.

Pearl vastly preferred fishing in a stream or river, but this lake was the closest, and she may as well. Stepping gingerly into the cool shallow water, she waded carefully and as quietly as she could until mid leg deep, so her reflexes wouldn't be slowed in the water. Standing stock still, only moving her eyes, she waited for the murk to settle and fish to become used to her presence. Patiently, she watched a lazy fish make its way in front of her, until she deemed the position right to plunge her head into the water, jaws agape to snapping shut on the tail end of the fish in the second of viper-like reflex. Pulling her sopping head out with a struggling fish on the fatter side, she made her way back to the shore to kill it.
Would it be safe to say Pearl gave her name just before the race started in that other thread? :P

The was growing restless very quickly, she didn't want wait forever. Catching normal prey never took this much time. Maybe waiting around wasn't the best choice. Instead it felt more like she should go into the water and chase after them relentlessly. She was about to until Pearl suddenly showed up. Kinra decided to stay hidden after noticing she wasn't spotted yet. She remained very watchful as she tried figuring out what she was up to.

After Pearl got into position, time felt like it stopped. No one moved for a while. The whole time Kinra was puzzled and didn't really understand why someone would stand in the water for so long. The moment the Knight was at the peak of her frustration the other female snatched a fish from the water. Kinra was very surprised that she stood up after Pearl went to go kill the fish. It did bother her that she wasn't able to catch a fish while the other could. But she wasn't going to let jealousy set in. The Knight knew that if she wanted to learn quickly she was going to need someone to teach her.

"So you can fish?" She said to give away her presence before following the edge of the lake to join Pearl. She was still a bit wet from her jump into the water but other than that she approached in a high but proper manner. She looked the fish the female caught before admitting a fact "You made catching fish look easy yet I'm unable to catch one." Kinra's tone was calm but a little rough. She really didn't like the idea that there was something she couldn't hunt but others can.
yep let's go with that

Looking over at Kinra, who seemed to appear out of no where, Pearl smiled in greeting and wagged her tail. "Yesh, my tra es hunin," she said with the fish still in her maw, eyes going wide with realization after. Laying the fish down and putting a swift end to it, she looked back up at the knight in an effort to try again. "Yes, my main trade is hunting, it took me a while to learn as a loner." she offered as an explanation. Really, she was better at rabbits and deer than fish. Any smaller was frustrating.

She noticed the other was still damp, so that paired with her statement implied she hadn't had much luck. Was she there the entire time? Well she certainly didn't notice. "Would you like to learn?" she asked, ears perked and head tilted. It wouldn't be a problem, and having a hunting buddy would be cool.
So Pearl was a hunter too. It made Kinra wonder what exactly the other knows. The main feeling that was drawn out was the competitive one. As a Knight she wanted to be the best hunter around, she had train very hard to master hunting but the whole mastery thing came crashing down when she discovered she was missing the knowledge of wishing. Hunting fish was something completely left out in training, why? She didn't know but Kinra was determined to master all the hunting.

It turned out Pearl actually self learned fishing. "It took you a while huh?" She said while looking into the lake. Kinra may have time to spare but how long was 'a while'? In any case learning as fast as possible came first before anything else. But to think a Knight who trained to be a master hunter would ask a hunter for a lesson in fishing. For some reason that was difficult to shallow, it should be the other way around.

But the competitive spirit kicked in when Pearl asked if she wanted to learn. "I'm a hunter too, so I have to learn it even if it had never been part of my training back home. It can't be that hard, I'm already able to hunt everything else." She said as she stepped into the lake. She was actually trying to copy what she saw Pearl going. Except Kinra's patience took a hit when she saw how murky the water got as she got in and noticed she scared away all the nearby fish. Kinra sighed to herself, how long was this going to take before she could get close to one? She decided to move in deeper in hopes to get closer to a fish.
She wouldn't call herself a master fisher yet, but she was only trying to be modest when it came to how long it took her to learn. "I mean, it took more than a few long fishing sessions to get the hang of it. The best place is in a stream or a river." she said, thinking of Blacktail Deer Plateau and the river perfect for fishing there. Her favorite time to fish was when it was warm and raining, plenty of fish and cover.

She watched Kinra stubbornly refuse and go out into the lake to try her luck again with a small smile on her face. As far as she could tell, patience was the key in fishing, and this girl didn't seem to have much of it, though she did say she was able to hunt everything else. So apparently she had training for hunting back home. If she was a knight then, she might be able to glean a fighting lesson or two for self defense.

Still watching with a knowing, almost smug smile on her face, she called out after Kinra started to wade deeper. "It's better to stay where your joints are still above water so you can move quicker!" she said, some part of her yearning to mess with the knight. But not yet. This woman probably didn't take too kindly to pranksters.
As much as it would be good to listen to advice from someone who knows how to fish, Kinra decided not to allow them. It's not like Pearl was a master at fishing, maybe she didn't know what was the actual best thing to do. She figured the deeper she was the more likely she could catch even bigger fish. She continued to move in up until she was half way into the water. The water was now at her shoulders. Since there no fish around she decided to turn to face the female from where she was.

Being deeper into the water had much more disadvantage but Kinra didn't know them yet, or at the very least she hasn't thought of it. She looked at pearl. She was confident that she would catch her first fish today and she'll have someone to witness that. "I'd want my first catch to be a large fish. The deeper the better chance of getting a big one." She said with her own logic in order to explain why she went deeper. "Just watch, I'll show you that I can do it."
Pearl watched as the knight stubbornly refused the advice and go deeper into the lake. She was a good distance away, so Pearl could now silently start laughing. She took a seat on the shore, smiling. "Alright, I'm watching," she called back, highly amused by this whole situation. Suppressing a grin was hard, and the urge to yell out useless advice was strong. This was going to be a good laugh, if the knight had a sense of humor.
After that it became silent for a while. Kinra stood still in the cold water, watching carefully for any approaching fish. A few were getting closer but were still not within reach. As time flew by she was starting to get too cold just standing there in the water. She was starting to shake and was struggling to resist making sudden movements. Finally a fish was swimming her way. It wasn't big but she had enough of waiting in the water. Once the fish was close enough she dived her head in and snapped her jaws where she last saw the fish.

Very soon Kinra's head was back above water with nothing in mouth. She shook the water off her head. She had completely missed and some might even say she wasn't even close. She had failed to catch one once again and was completely fed up with staying in cold water. Just decided to head toward Pearl instead of trying again. No wonder why fishing wasn't taught, It wastes so much time for so little and plus it was cold! Kinra was obviously frustrated, all she wanted to do was get out and warm back up.
Pearl had laid down on the shore of the lake, waiting and watching. Kinra finally had some luck with getting a fish to swim near, and with raised eyebrows she witnessed the failed attempt. Resisting the urge to say 'I told you so', she stood back up and watched with an expression much like Jim from The Office as the soaked, stubborn knight come back to warm up.

Speaking to someone that was frustrated and had their pride wounded wasn't what Pearl would call a refined skill."So, um, good try," she said, "not supposed to go out that deep, it slows your reflexes and when it's cold, it could freeze them up." Giving the logic on this might be the best way to go.
As Kinra climbed out Pearl decided to comment of the Knight's efforts. She gave her basic but slightly annoyed look. "I'm sure there is more to it than that. I believe I was fast enough but I completely missed. It was as if the fish was never there." She said in a neutral tone. Then she walked a little away before shaking most of the water out of her fur. Although she was still a bit cold and with all the waiting around doing nothing she also felt lazy.

So she decided to head back to pearl. "Mind if I borrow some of your warmth? In return I don't mind having a little talk. You can choose any subject of your choice." Kinra was already done with fishing for now and really wasn't ready to try again. She wanted some warmth but didn't feel like running. She thought it would just be better to lay down against Pearl. At the same time she could learn a little more about this wolf. Maybe discover the reason why Sebastian had chose to move next to her during that one night.
Pearl only satisfied the statement with a hum acknowledgement. Believe what you want, sister. She turned to go back and follow Kinra back into the territory, and was caught off guard when the Knight asked to borrow warmth. Blinking a few times in surprise before responding, "Um, sure, of course!" She gestured with her head for the woman to join her as she stretched out, getting comfy on the ground.

When the damp wolfess settled beside her, Pearl wasn't sure where to start. Encountering this type was rare for her. Basics? She thought so. "Well, how did you become a knight?" she asked, genuinely curious.
Seeing that she got permission she settled right up against Pearl. Anyone who was see it could see two contacted to each other side by side but that was it. Kinra got comfortable but kept her head up to keep an eye on the surroundings. She did offer Pearl to choose the subject to talk about but she didn't really expect to be asked about how she became a knight. It's a long story but really she was just born and raised into it.

She turned her head towards Pearl to look at her and realized how very close they were. If it didn't bother the female then it didn't really bother the Knight. "Let's say I was born and raised into it. It was constant training almost every day and lessons on this and that. Once you learn the Knight's code by heart and done all the training you need then you earn the right to be a Knight. I can still remember those rough days but eventually you get used to it. I'm kind of glad to be out of there, I don't have to listen to know it all teachers anymore." Then Kinra attempted to lay her head on Pearl's "What about you? Did you grow up free? I find it hard to imagine what normal wolves do."
Pearl listened with interest at the life of a knight that had no other choice of what to do. It sounded restricting, constant teaching and lessons. She couldn't imagine it; freedom was everything to her. Pearl looked at Kinra with a surprised expression, understanding her behavior and mannerisms more fully now. It didn't bother her at all how close they were, rather enjoying the warmth and smiling while resting her head on her paws, Kinra's head on her.

"Pretty much, my childhood was basically doing whatever with my brother and the younger members of the pack. I grew up on the plains, so it was a lot of pranking, racing, and hunting." she said, smiling thoughtfully as she remembered the good old days when there was naught a care in the world and the only limits were a max of three days away, always be present for the pack meetings and storytellings, and keep the caches full. It was a pleasant memory now, faded into the past and piled upon with new experiences and friends.
Kinra was allowed the rest her head on Pearl's, She was very comfortable and at the same time she could keep an eye on the surroundings. She listened to the story of the other. Seems quite the opposite of what Kinra experienced. Maybe in way she would have preferred that sort of life but she expected it to have it's draw backs. If she had followed a life like that then she would have never became a knight. But the life she had is one of a Knight and she was only used to living like one.

The Knight starting speak after letting out a relaxed sigh. "hmmmmm That life sounds so unproductive, but fun. There were days where Knights could also have fun but most of the time we would relax like this. It was always encouraged to do something useful when you had the energy to do so." She paused as she remained comfortably against Pearl. "It's funny to think that I'm still in that habit while there is no one pushing me to do any exercises."
Pearl had to chuckle silently. "Yes, you could say it was." she said with a hint of a smile. She listened to Kinra's musings over days of fun, and wondered how much they would have gotten away with and what the punishments were.

"Old habits die hard," she said, "but we can exercise together if you want." It would be fun to have a friend to hunt and push her to her limits. Not that she was looking to do that now. She yawned, surprisingly comfortable and content.
"Only if you can keep up with me." She said calmly. If Pearl really wanted to exercise with her it was going to be constant competition. As a Knight Kinra would always believe she needed to do better than Pearl. Of course each wolf did have their talents, Pearl was no different but the only noticeable problem was that her talents were very similar to hers. That was the current impression. She wanted to know if the white female would be motivated to exercise so she decided to list out all that she does. "Running is the main exercise I do but there is also swimming and climbing involved, are you sure you are up for all that? I do one or a mix of those every early morning."

The Knight continued to be relaxed and was feeling lazier by the minute. There was reason to believe Pearl might even be too comfortable for her. But that didn't matter, it was great here even if it was making her lazy.
Pearl let out a huff of amusement. "That can be easily done," she said, faintly smiling. Kinra listed off all the things she did, only one making her ears prick up. "Climbing? You mean trees? You'll have to teach me that. Otherwise I'm up for anything," she said, a mildly concerned look on her face. She never felt it necessary to learn that, so she'd never really ever tried. Rocks and mountains, however, she could handle pretty well.

With all the sun and warmth surrounding, a content drowsiness fell over her, eyelids beginning to feel heavy. She wondered how much longer she could go without dozing off.
It was a little annoying to hear that Pearl said it would be easy but instead of getting mad over it she was reminded that she had done the same before back home. So that's how it felt like, she just now understood how the other felt back then. She let the subject shift to climbing trees. "I was talking about mountain climbing and getting up ledges. It's surprisingly tiring. As for trees, those are nearly impossible to climb. It takes too much effort and you risk hurting yourself when trying to get down." She said as she remained calm and relaxed.

With the current mood and the way things are the Knight decided to challenge Pearl to something Kinra couldn't do very often. It might not settle well for her duties but a good nap felt like it would be great. It's been a long time since she had one, it wouldn't hurt to have a little nap here. She had the time to do so anyway even if it was meant for fishing. "Alright, first one to take a nice nap wins." She said to challenge Pearl. In a way Kinra was taking advantage of the comfortable female. If Pearled napped here too then Kinra would have a nice pillow for the whole nap. She waited to see what it would be before closing her eyes.
Pearl drowsily listened to the knight, only half hearing her. Just listening to her talk about effort at the moment was tiring. Kinra apparently felt the same, as she finally resolved to make up a napping challenge. "Challenge accepted," she said, giggling softly because of the sheer absurdity. But she was glad to have an excuse to fall asleep, so they did, unconsciously competing for nothing.
