Anyone free to jump in, but focused on Lyric and @Rain

Zephyr turned away from the borders, lowering his massive head down to Rain's level and nudging her further inland. He didn't need her getting herself into trouble, and certainly didnt need her mama coming at him for leaving her daughter to wander alone after a strange male. So he led the way towards the river, the first place they'd met, chuckling slightly over his shoulder at the wolfdog.
"So, what trouble are we getting into next, Rain?"
He shot her a charming grin coupled with mischief sparkling in his grassy eyes. He wouldn't let her get into real trouble, of course, but he would keep her (and him) highly entertained; not to mention the bonding experience they'd both get from it. As if he needed another reason, he also knew Lyric would probably enjoy the break of not chasing around her daughter. He kept his ears on a swivel around them, mouth parted slightly to pick up any stray scents that came across them.
Upon hearing the word trouble, Rain's bi-coloured eyes shone in impishness. She raised her butt in the air into a play bow, tail swaying back and forth.
'Trouble you say?' She tilted her head sideways, ears flopping over her eyes, mildly blinding her.
Crouching low, she sneaked low around him, yapping excitedly. She was starting to grow quite a bond with Zephyr, he was gentle and protective and very silly. Her favourite aspect.
Grabbing the end of his tail in her jaws, she pulled lightly, trying to get his attention to distract him. Then skidding to the front of his torso, Rain grinned in mischief.
'That's my middl-'
She was mid sentence before she realised she had misjudged her footing and slid backwards into the stream.
Seriously? Again? She thought, and snorted in laughter at the stupidity of it all.
Zephyr laughed, play bowing across from her. He watched, though, as he quickly became a victim to such trouble, and could not help but laugh. He subconsciously already looks at the wolfdog as if she were his daughter, liking her playful spirit and zest for life. Within moments, shed slid behind him and grabbed his tail in her jaws. As he began to turn, however, she let go and moved and a little splash was heard. He tur ed to where shed moved last, anxiety  spiking after realizing she WASNT there. That sound was all too familiar to the ebondy male, and he whipped around. It took a moment for his scared grassy eyes to catch sight of her, but when he did he lunged forward for her. His aim was her scruff, and of he managed to get it he'd be picking her right up out of that water. He'd fished too many pups from the river, mostly his own, and Rain, to him, was his pup. Even if she was fully grown and not even his.
Beads of water sprayed in all directions as Rain shook her fur out to dry herself.  Feeling bad to have frightened him, she nestled her way into his chest, stealing all the warmth she could get after being in the cold water.
It felt so good for someone to hold her close, someone else's body embracing her, Zephyr treated her equally, not below him, like some others did. She wasn't a 'mistake' or just the 'hybrid' to him. It made her feel special.
'I wish other wolves were like you, some others just treat me like a freak. Although, maybe I am. But It's nice to know, that some people don't think so.'
The word freak burnt her mouth as she spoke it, it was a word she referred to herself often, it always hurt to say it out loud.
That's because you are one. Why did you think even your own father didn't want you?

'Do you think that my dad would of liked me? Or maybe he wouldn't of not liked me because I wasn't full dog? It's so unfair. I just want to be be like others, and my stupid head doesn't make that any better either. I mean Teci's a wolf dog, but at least she isn't retarded like am!'
She hadn't realised that she had started to spit out her last words in frustration, how quickly she'd changed the happy fun topic into yet another downer. She didn't even realise as tears started to well up in her eyes. Pathetic, she thought.
Always gotta make things about yourself huh? Stupid bitch.
Rain dug her head into Zephyrs chest, tears streaming down her face, the voices wouldn't go away no matter how hard she tried to ignore them.
'SHUT UP!'
Zephyr licked her fur against the way it grew in attempts to dry and warm her, much as a mother would do her pup. He listened to her words carefully, patiently, letting her air her frustrations; his ebony ears plastered to the back of his head as she talked down on herself, and he faltered in his licking for a moment in surprise at her ferocity. Perhaps he would ask her when she was calm, or Lyric if Rain herself didn't understand.
"Rain Willow, I am sure your father would have loved you. He may not have THOUGHT he wanted you, but I guarantee if he'd have just met you once he would have never left your side again."
He spoke softly, and between calming strokes of his tongue, right into her ear. He licked the wetness from her face, nuzzling her and attempting to use his familiar scent to relax her further. He'd noticed she seemed to like pushing into spots where his scent was strongest, and if he felt protected around her maybe she would associate his scent with safety.
"I know I am not your father, Rain, but darling if you'd let me I'd be happy to act as one to you. I think you are absolutely the most spirited, kind, and loving wolf that I've ever had the chance to meet.... And I've met a lot of wolves! Believe you me sweetie, it is much better to be those things than anything else in the world. Even if you might not be as smart as others, or you're a bit clumsy, you are a golden soul and to me that is the most precious of all."
He went silent for a little bit, giving her a chance to respond and moving his strokes down her neck and back, hoping the rubbing of her fur backwards was warming and relaxing her. He would groom it back down later if need be.
"Did you know that I never had a father either? He did very, very bad things to my mother. I believe he saw me when I was a pup, but my mother wouldn't let him come into the den let alone be a part of my life. He forced puppies upon her, and even though that fact she loved us from the moment she knew she was pregnant. However, not having a mate around for her, I was the only one that survived the harsh Winter. Because of him, nonetheless. I thanked her for keeping him out of my life."
His musky scent was strong, comforting, it made her feel safe, at ease as he started to groom her. Zephyr as her dad?  Was this pure love, or just pity for a pathetic hybrid. Shaking the thoughts away from her mind, she relaxed allowing him to lick and nibble her fur.
'He sounds like a butt head. I'm glad you're not like him.' She paused for a few moments, thinking before she spoke.
'And thank you, I'd like that.'
She smiled weakly and began to nestle deeper into his chest until it grew ticklish, so she could not help but let out a soft giggle. Kneading his coarse fur in her soft pink paws, Rain began to paw at his thick ebony fur.
'Are you fat? Or fluffy? I can't tell.'
The sun was glimmering through the clouds, slightly peeking through as they began to move.  Lightly digging through the warm earth, she emptied her herbs and findings for that day into her cache and sealed it with a large fir branch. Wondering what Rain was up to, Lyric decided to surprise the silly lass with her favourite treat.  Wading through the cool stream before her, she stood for a few moments, waiting  as unsatisfactory minnows  swam past her, tickling her soft fur. Minutes later, catching sight of a medium sized salmon through the water, she quickly ducked her jaws into the water, latching on the slippery substance. Swinging her neck back up, the fish firmly implanted in her teeth, she waded up stream in search of her child.

Mere minutes later, Lyric came across Zephyr and Rain cuddling by the stream, playing of some sort. The scene made her smile, It relieved her to know that Rain had a great father figure, and she couldn't help but be happy to see her friend again. Approaching further, she dropped the fish on a large stone, the heat from the sun heating the fish slightly.
'Heya, babes,' She cuddled into Rain's neck, kissing her gently, then turned to Zephyr.
'Hi, It's good to see you again!' She didn't dare kiss him or cuddle him, but settled for a soft lick on the neck. She lay down next to them both, legs aching from the work she'd done that morning, wondering what they'd been up to.
"Im glad I'm not like him either, but I have to admit he's half of the reason I am the way I am today. Without his example to drive me to be the best I could be, who knows how I'd be.
Zephyr plopped down onto his side, sprawling out and wiggling happily and laughing at her question. He'd had soft fur all of his life, but he was a big wolf that needed a LOT to fill his belly; thankfully he was also busy a lot, and so worked every bit of it off. His answer was more in fun, for underneath that soft, double coated ebony pelt was mostly muscle.
"Probably a little bit of both fat AND fluffy."
His grassy eyes were bright and playful, inviting the little wolfdog to join him on the ground to play, pawing at her face gently. He had noticed Lyric's approaching, but didn't say anything until she had. When she came over and licked his neck, his skin warmed in a happy blush. It'd been a long while since he'd had the touch of an affectionate woman, but it was nice. He returned the gesture when she lied herself next to him, shifting and licking her face a few times. His tail wagged behind him, and he layed back on his side to sprawl in the sunlight. He decided to tell her about their day, a stroke of luck that matched her thoughts.
"We met a new wolf today, Lyric. I was out patrolling when he stopped me, and Rain here just decided to show up!"
He didnt tell her about how he'd gone into super protective mode over it, just kept talking.
"He was starting a new pack, possibly close, maybe on the mountain."
His eyes grew wistful when he spoke of the mountain, and it was clear he would prefer the stone to the woods. Had he not already formed bonds with the two females that were laying with him now....  Maybe one day he could start anew, with a new pack to lead and new territory?
Her head lifted, Rain nuzzled close into her mother as she arrived. Noticing the blush from Zephyr, a smile crawled across her face in realisation. Gasping she shoved her muzzle to his ear, whispering.
'You wanna smooch my Mom don't you?' Eyes glowing in excitement, she wriggled out of his arms and pounced onto her poor mother and hid her face in her mother tufty ears. Her fluffy, downy fur tickling her own sensitive nose.
'You wanna smooch Zephyr, don't you Mom?'
Giggling non-stop, she skipped away, burning off the energy she just experienced, but was sidetracked by the rock beside her.
'FISH!' Snuffling the salmon carefully, she went to take a bite, it was soft and salty as usual, but it was toasted from the spring heat, giving a tangy, smoky taste. She loved it. Tearing through the fish ravenously, she completely forgot about the adults behind her.
A new pack nearby? Lyric hoped they would not bring trouble to Seadog, life had been pleasantly peaceful, and she hoped no feuding occurred. She was also glad Zephyr was able to take care of Rain when he did, Rain could be over friendly with some, an attribute that could easily be manipulated. When her young approached her with a whisper, she assumed the latter was said to Zephyr and stared out into the distance unblinking, a beetroot blush across her cheeks.
'You little shit.' She grinned maddeningly, absolutely mortified. But the obviously glee of her finding the fish brightened her mood slightly, hoping that her antics would distract the two from the embarrassment.
He did not seem to share Lyrics worry for Seadog at all, off in his own mountain world. A new ambition sprung in his heart, The males perked in surprise as he listened to his adopted daughter's words, blushing heavier in embarrassment. He could not say the little wolfdog wasnt right, but sudden thoughts of a pretty she wolf with soft fur of ebony, with ash speckles coating her torso. Rinda.... No, that wasn't fair. Rinda was dead, and he could not live the rest of his life alone. Should their relationship develop, he would keep an open mind. He stayed sprawled out on his side, soon relaxing again though he knew Rain had said the same thing to the pale ginger female in front of him.
OCC: Rain is busy eating fish, Priorities.
So Just Lyric and Zephyr until she hops back in.

'I am so sorry about that, Zephyr, she doesn't mean it? Uh, Obviously I know that you don't feel that way of course. Right? '
Lyric babbled nervously, spouting words in a flustered fashion. Zephyr made her heart flutter and cheeks glow, but she did not know if he felt the same at all.  She had never had a real mate before, except her fling with Rain's father, he was free spirited and loving, but she wasn't able to have him, with his owner shooing her away with a terrifying shotgun. The idea of being Zephyr's excited her, but she knew of his past, he had a mate before, he was probably not ready for a relationship yet. She couldn't help but feel slightly glad Rain had brought it up, maybe he would consider?
Zephyr WAS considering, heavily actually. He perked his ears at her words, but didn't say anything for a long minute. He pulled himself up to look at her but stayed on the earth, his grassy eyes meeting her jade ones and sitting THERE for another moment.
"I cannot say she lies. But I also cannot say I do not think of my past. Its a little confusing, but the way I see it is that we've just met, and we have time to figure out more of what we want."
Her stutters didn't go unnoticed, and he began to groom her gently in hopes to calm her.
Lyric nuzzled closer into the large brute's neck, letting him nibble her fur soothingly.
'I was hoping you'd say that, I mean, I do want to go too fast, especially after, last time.'
The idea of going slow relieved her greatly, she did not want to rush into things, preferring to take things slowly and easy. Leaning against his chest, feeling his warm coat upon her own downy fur.
'Thank you'
Zephyr chuffed happily in agreement, wagging his tail with a protective glance over at Rain. He resumed his grooming and nuzzling, effectively covering her in his scent. It made him happy, satisfied.
"Of course dear. I'll court you like a true gentleman should."
