The rocky ground had once been covered by a glacier but it had obviously receded, leaving the barren soil that she now loped across.
Pickings were scarcer here, she had been surviving on small mammals such as field mice and moles with the odd carcass. Rarely she would happen across some kind of plant growth to eat.
The things I do for you Bird. She stopped wearily by a stream to lap up some water before continuing on her way, wondering if she would happen across someone.
