Charley, for once, was away from his sister willingly. The patchy male had felt his paws growing restless, and gave into the urge to explore his new home. The massive male pushed his way through the dense foliage in search of... Well, who knows. Knowledge, perhaps? Meeting the other members of the pack crossed his mind, but it mattered none to him. He was still relatively new and had an excuse to not know everyone personally.... Eventually, though, he'd have to be nice. As a natural con artist and someone who had never really trusted, he wasnt all that social. Under walls and guards and perhaps an insecurity, Charley really did want a NORMAL, happy life. To find a mate one day was a goal, but he not only doubted that any girl could ever LIKE such an ass as him, but he was also under the impression that no woman was good enough for him. However, a mate and pups couldn't be accomplished without having first found a suitable woman.... What a drag. One day, perhaps, or perhaps he would spend the rest of his life with Emory and deal with it. His carribean eyes flashed in the evening light as he glanced around for anything. Something to play with, a packmate, perhaps even something he could sink his fangs into: be it trespasser or prey.
Aspen marked the last tree of her patrol for the night before stretching and giving the area one last glance. A job well done she thought with a smile. Time to relax or something. She had a surprising amount of energy left and picked up a small trot as she trailed deeper into there territory not giving too much notice to her surroundings. She was paying so little attention she almost collided with one of her packmates. She brought herself to stop barely a few feet from the male.

She took a few moments for her to figure out exactly what just happened. She was considering blaming this wolf for being in the way of her jog because that was the kind of mood she was in currently. The leave alone or talk at your own risk kind of mood. She let out a subtle growl and gave the male a rather unamused look. Only then did it occur to her she had not yet met this wolf, not that she cared at this particular moment in time.

>:) This could be fun :p
Charley scented the female coming towards him, but couldnt pinpoint her location until it was the same as his.... Almost too literally. She stopped so close he could have poked her with a paw; probably would have done so if she didnt look so pissy. She gave him some half ass glare and was not deaf from the low growl that tumbled from her muzzle. He couldn't help but look at the silvery female before him and laugh. Not outright in her face of course, but a rumble deep in his chest that escaped in a chuckle. Did she think she could intimidate him? But damn was she sexy for trying, and it definatley raised his opinion just a wee bit.
"Come on darlin', no need for all that big talk."
This time, he laughed a little, but not at her. It was a friendly sound, and the multicolored male tipped his head with a charming smile.
             "I promise I won't bite.... First."
He left it up to her to make the choice, but hoped she relaxed. She was pretty, and he really did want to make friends. He just didn't know how to let his usual ruse down: he was a naturally cocky, flirty wolf. That couldn't change. Only the manipulative part, and he was willing to give it a try if it meant he wasn't alone in the world other than Emory.
Aspen blinked as the wolf appeared to laugh at her attempts to "intimidate" him. It wasn't quite a laugh more of a chuckle. Aspen looked puzzled as she couldn't entirely figure out why he was laughing. "You got in my way," she said calmly. "Or rather you distracted me from my run," she said still rather unamused.

Her ears twitch as the ginger male spoke. Darling...Did he just call her darling. Some part of her deep down liked that and she felt a teeny tiny crack in one of the many walls she had built up. What the hell is wrong with you. She thought pushing any sort of feelings out of her head, focusing on the fact she was mad at him. He laughed again, Aspen still clueless as to why just watched him although she felt herself relax slightly.

She let out a sigh of defeat. She was had little energy to put up a fight with this wolf right now so she neglected to even try. She probably wouldn't have one, she certainly was more tired than he at this point looked.

"I don't want a fight," she said calmly recollecting her thoughts. "Not now at least," she mused with a hint of a smile curving on her maw. Although she was implying that she was chill for now maybe, but there was no promise on her end for future meetings. Although somewhere in the back of her mind she didn't think there was sli chance of that happening.

Minor internal battle going on on Aspens part currently XD
Its okay Charley's will follow soon enough xD Just hasn't set in yet.

Him, get in the way? He nearly laughed again, and wanted to make some sneering remark, but didnt. No reason, that he knew of, just simply didn't. It did make him wonder, a little bit, but his eyes didn't leave her features. They swept over her frame adoringly, but she was speaking again and he had to listen. His lips curled up in a more mischevious grin, easily picking up the hint. So far, he liked this girl. His bright blue gaze turned around the pair, still in the mood to explore.
"I was exploring the grotto, fancy coming on a stroll?"
He found himself wanting to get to know her as he padded off, throwing a hopeful, innocent look back at the grey female. Whoops, they didn't know names, did they? Suppose that was a good thing.
Wait a second, Charley, the MOUTH, slipping on his words? For now, the patchy male shoved the worry away with a flick of an ear. He was in a new environment, of course he wasn't up to parr. He just needed to be get moving, he'd be alright.
"The names Charley, by the way."
Aspen was surprised this wolf wasn't laughing at her again or something. Her comment was rather stupid but she only realized it after the fact. She watched as a rather mischievious look came across the males maw. She had a chance to get a better look at him and realized he was a rather attractive wolf. Strong build, ginger coat, blue eyes like hers, black took up most of his face, seemed he could hold his own in a fight too. She shook her head as unfamiliar thoughts once again breifly entertained her mind.

The male spoke again explaining he was on a stroll through the territory checking the place out. He asked if she wish to join. "Some stroll you must be on," she mused. "I almost ran into you," she said sarcastically while relaxing her posture more. Now she was more curious about this wolf than she was mad. Who cares if he crossed paths with her, it was her responsibility as a pack wolf to know all her packmates right? Right.

She nodded and began turned to follow the male wolf. A little walk couldn't hurt, besides she would have probably ended up on one anyhow why not have some company. The wolf turned his head back giving her an innocent glance almost as if to have said please or hoping that she would follow. Then he introduced himself as Charley. "The name's Aspen," she said a bit more friendly. "Where too?"
She seemed willing enough, after a moment of what Charley took as her convincing herself. She shook herself, as if to shoo away a bug.... Or an unwelcome thought? The females looks were not lost to him, and she charming smile was again claiming his muzzle, a row of ivory stark against his charcoal mask. He held himself a little higher as they wandered in whatever direction he'd taken. Truth be told he had no damn clue where he was going. Of course that could benefit him....
"I'm new here, I don't know all the usual paths and such. I apologize for getting in the way of an OH so important run of a pretty lady such as yourself. Can you find it on your heart to forgive a ragged man like me?"
His time was soft and warm, like velvet, and his eyes glanced over to her again. Though they went immediately to her eyes, he couldn't help but trace the curves of her body now she was more relaxed. She gave a name, Aspen, and he felt it was a good name for her.
"I have no idea where I'm going. Would you care to show me some of the landmarks around here? Maybe even where you like hanging out?"
Aspen mused as the wolf seemed to adjust his posture. Boy he was in a good mood. Wonder why. She pondered to herself quietly. The fact she had been pissy with him didn't even seem to phase the male. She shrugged off the thought and continued walking alongside Charley.

The masked wolf explained he didn't know all the usual paths and such around the territory and he made a sarcastic joke about interupting her run and asked if she could find it somewhere in her to forgive him.

She found herself letting out a small laugh a smile resting on her maw. She didn't seem to have any control of her responses to this wolf anymore she would rather have been a bit more illusive and less open with a response to this wolf but instead she had decided on a very sarcastic reply.

"I'm sure if I dig deep enough ill find a place to forgive you." She let out a lighter more friendly laugh and then listened as he spoke again explaining he had no clue where he was going and asked if she might be able to show her a few key places or even somewhere she liked to chill out. Immediately her mind went to the pristine lake that lay in their territory. She murmed a small hmm as if deciding whether or not to take him to the lake, she figured he would find it at some point or another why not now.

"Yea, I know a place," she mused. "Follow me," she finished turning slightly picking up a light trot heading for a place she hoped this wolf would like as much as she did.
Charley couldn't be sure if the female was always like this, or she had a liking for him. It seemed that neither was quite the case, technically, but oh well. Ignorance is bliss, right? As long as she WAS being nice, this should be an interesting evening. The "tortisehell" male had gotten not just a smile but a LAUGH from the girl.... And even he had to admit, it gave him a particular satisfaction that he couldn't place. Not his usual feeling of victory after he'd conned someone, but a sense of pleasure rather that came from a real accomplishment. She gave him a sarcastic, but friendly, response, and another laugh! Boy was he doing good. The cherry on the cake though was her agreement, and pleased rumble resonated from his chest.  He trotted along after her, curious as to where she held close but more interested, in the moment, in watching her movements. Though he tried keeping his blue eyes on the path, but they just kept drawing back to her sleek strides, her confident step. He could feel a pull towards her, though he wouldn't admit it to even himself.
"Gonna gimme a hint darlin', or is it a surprise?"
The words slipped from his mind out his mouth before they became thoughts, and this time was mildly surprised. He was known for his tongue, he ALWAYS thought his words through. For just one second, he played with the idea to stop, to say just whatever came to mind. Could he really do so? Not yet. Not until he was more familiar with her.
Aspen felt like she was being watched as she trailed in the dense foliage. They were close and she was happy to be showing him this place. Someplace she cared about, which was odd considering she hadn't wanted to do that ever. Even with her brothers.

Her tail swung happily behind her but she turned her head slightly as Charley spoke. He was curious as to their location whether he would get to know. He called her darling again which made her pause for a moment before speaking. What was this wolf doing to her. She was confused.

"It's a surprise," she said with a playful tone to her voice. " We are almost there," she stated darting a few more strides forward and trotted out into the open and approached the edge of the lake.

She approached the edge of the pristine lake and turned to face the masked male. "This is it," she said with a smile. "This is by far my favourite spot in this territory, its beautiful," she said peacefully as she took a moment to watch and observe the male's reactions.

At this point she would be surprised if this wolf thought she was bipolar or something. She had gone from growling at him to being comfortable around him. Which she didn't understand either. She had never been able to do that with any wolf, she had learned when she was small it wasn't okay to trust any wolves. Including family, because they could easily betray you in a heartbeat. Yet oddly, she felt safe with Charley.
Aspen didn't answer him right away and he was beginning to sense the fight within her: and perhaps a little war of his own. He thought about neither, however, for he was too preoccupied listening to her voice. Such a nice voice....
What?
The silvery female rejected his requests with a playful ring to her words, and Charley took a gentle swipe to her tail with a massive cream paw.
      "Awh, you're no fun sweetheart."
He laughed, and would have continued if not for the sight before him.
She was lit up in happiness, gazing out over some lake. The only reason he tore his eyes from HER, was to avoid hurting her feelings. A breeze rippled the crystalline surface, and it was indeed a pretty sight. It didn't, however, compare to the female talking of her love for it.
       "Beautiful."
One simple, unclear statement. She could assume he meant the spot, as would be rational, but even Charley knew he meant her. Her sudden rawness hit deep, cracking the beginning of his walls. The massive patched male had a slight, deep urge to protect it: her, her feelings, this place....
Caught off guard again? So many conflictions because of one pretty little lady.
His pet names for her made her weak. Even if it wasnt for long it was something. She heard him say the words sweetheart shortly before they had reached the lake. Now that they were there though she waited on his opinion.

She watched as the male took a look around seemingly admiring the lake. She was happy he liked it. She heard him say beautiful and with that she nodded. "That it is," she said padding back over to him. "I come here a lot to think, or to just relax, its usually pretty peaceful here if you don't mind the occasional duck," she chuckled. She was happy for once, the happiest she had been ever come to think of it. She hadn't had a lot of happy moments in her life, since she had been in the wilds there had been a few but nothing this good.

Her tail swung happily as she just admired the view, allowing the occasional glance to charley before she walked over to the edge and let the ripples run over her paw and sat down. She glanced back at Charley inviting him to come sit. She was tempted to go for a swim but she was more curious about the male than she was swimming at this moment in time.

The sun was setting and her energy was getting lower but she wanted the company right now. "Where do you come from Mr Charley," she spoke not really thinking much of the words she just spoke.
The patched male looked at her more than the lake, only mildly interested in a simple place. A place would be here forever, for the most part. There were probably millions of lakes around the world, and as a traveler Charley was hard to please with a location. But passion was rare in wolves these days, it seemed, and this graceful female had it. She spoke further of it, and his carribean eyes went to her once again. This time, they stayed. She walked off before he got the opportunity to say anything, but he was already padding after her without a thought or conscious demand of his body. Alright then, looks like his paws were getting wet. As soon as he settled down in a sit next to her, the silvery female asked about him. Still, his eyes didnt leave her, sometimes wandering her frame but mostly lingering on her face, her eyes.
"I don't come from anywhere, persay, but I was born in the rocky mountains. My twin sister and I have been traveling for the past three years or so."
He didn't really tell people about that point of his life, that first year. It wasnt particularly bad, but it was slightly traumatized from it: the very reason he'd built walls and didn't trust. The reason he conned, traveled the world.
And yet, he was already willing to tell her it. Maybe not down to the very fine details yet, but she'd at least know the important parts if that's what she wanted.
"What about you angel? You come from somewhere?"
Aspen smiled slightly as the wolf came and sat next to her. Well that didn't take much convincing. She mused at the thought. He must really like this place....or her. One of the two. She internally slapped herself of the thought. It was not possible that Aspen, the broken trustless wolf could possibly even have a crush on this wolf. No not at all.

She listened intently as the wolf explained he had been born in the rocky mountains and had been travelling with his sister for the past few years. She was curious as to why perhaps they had been travelling, why they hadn't stayed with their birth pack but she decided perhaps not the kind of question you ask a wolf you just met.

Besides, it always backfired when she asked questions like that. Wolves had a habit of returning the gesture. Although oddly, Aspen didn't feel like she had anything to hide from this wolf. She felt an odd connection to him, perhaps he had a similar story? One that she was picking up on. Or she really did just like him. Neither of which she could control.

Proving her point that wolves like to return gestures he too asked where she came from but added in another one of his pet names on the end. He really needed to stop doing that. He was going to be the death of her. "I come from somewhere alright," she mused. "I too am a wolf of the mountains although I have been travelling since I was about 8 months old..." she  said trailing off towards the end. Praying the wolf hadn't noticed any change.
Though her reaction was slight, the smile sent waves of pleasure gushing in his chest and a charming grin of his own lit up his face. It faded, however, as did her words. She was upset? That just wouldn't do. He couldn't press a stranger, much as he wanted to take that pain and crush it under on of his massive paws.... Good thing she was a packmate.
"Wanna talk about it? That's a little young to be leaving home."
His blue eyes stayed ever on her, calm and even a little WORRIED.
God, what was going on in his head? The patchy male wondered if he should tell her his own story first, as if it would make it easier. Very well... If it made her more comfortable than so be it. He gave a sheepish glance at his paws before focusing on her once more.
"My mother wasn't faithful to my father, though he stayed anyways. He raised us practically on his own.... Until one of her affairs killed him right in front of his kids. We buried him at the foot of the mountain and never went back."
Well that was unexpected Aspen thought after the words that Charley next spoke surprised her. He asked the question without even her asking it first. He had asked if she had wanted to talk about it explaining it was a little young to be leaving home. He had noticeably picked up on the change in her mood. However brief. He had a look of worry in his gaze, he was concerned for her. Oddly she found herself wanting to share with someone her secrets. Maybe then they would burden her less, she just never found the right wolf to tell.

Something about Charley's personality made her feel like it would be okay to talk to him. That he wasn't going to betray her like the rest of the wolves she knew. Even Luna someone she had taken a liking too had now left the grotto. Charley didn't seem like he was a "most wolves" kinda guy. Something made him special.

Before she even had a chance to speak though he told a bit of his own story, perhaps as a if i tell you this will you tell me that kind of deal. He explained that his mother hadn't exactly been loyal to his father and eventually his father ended up getting killed by one of the mothers other partners. Aspen gave charley a rather sympathetic glance. He didn't have to tell her any of that and yet he did. She got the feeling that wasn't something he did with just any wolf. LIke herself.  Now she felt she owed him to tell him why she had "left" home.

"You," she paused. "You didn't have to do that you know, but I really do appreciate your trust in me and I promise whatever you tell me. Stays between us. I hope that you would do the same for me?" she stated giving him a gentle nudge and a reassuring smile that everything would be okay now. She couldn't promise him, but she had hope.

She took a deep breathe before speaking. "When I was born, I was born into the wrong family," she said. Or so she liked to believe. "My parents, and even my own siblings treated me as some sort of outcast. I got beat up a lot by my brothers and I was left to fend for myself most of the time. Then one night when I was about 6 months old, they just kind of up and left. All of them. Just gone. It rained overnight as well so it was impossible to trace them, not that I even wanted too," she trailed off glancing down at her paws.

"I was taken in by some other wolves but they treated me no better and at 8 months they told me I had to leave and find my own way. And here I am," she stated with a sigh. She felt like a large weight had been lifted off her chest, now at least she had shared her story with at least one other wolf. Now she didn't have to live with the complete weight of that story on her chest all the time. It felt good but she just hoped it wouldn't backfire on her someday.

Long post. Hope you don't mind.
Charley had to admit he was a little worried when she didn't answer, and her sympathy, that usually would have made his stomach curl, only made him appreciate her rawness more. She was clearly confused, maybe worried, and the patchy male for a moment fretted that she would feel pressured to tell him now. Her next words silenced his thoughts before he formed words to say, and abolished all worry. It did, however, surprise him: not that she trusted him, but that he WANTED her to. He wasn't getting to know her for anything, especially not conning or anything vile. If anything, the only thing he wanted from her was, well, HER.
What? What the fuck was that thought? He.... wanted her. How? Was it just the way he wanted Emory, to protect her and keep her safe?
No. No not even close. He couldn't place just how he wanted her, and his thoughts were interrupted by a white hot spot on his shoulder. Her touch, lord, her touch. Yes, he wanted her. He craved her, and her touch sent shivers down his spine. no longer hot, but spread out and warm all over. Oh and forget about thinking, his brain was scrambled.
"I promise angel, you're words are safe with me."
He reached out his muzzle towards her, blowing warm air softly over her cheek in an exhale. His mouth parted ever so slightly to scent her better, though he never once actually touched her. Very, very close, but no, not yet; he pulled his ebony mask away from her. Angel seemed to be the right thing to call her, for some reason.
She launched into her own story and he found himself rumbling deep in his chest as she spoke of being treated as an outcast. When she said she was actually beat up by them, his lips curled back in a silent snarl. How dare they! If he ever found her brothers, they better be prepared to beg for their lives. Her own family ABANDONED her? Another louder, meaner growl began in his chest, this one falling from his lips. As if she hadn't already had a tough time, for no reason, another group cast her away? She looked away, and his ears wilted back.
"If I ever so much as see any one of them, Ill be sure they regret what they did."
The words came out in a dull snarl, but it was in no way aimed at her. In fact, he'd turned his carribean eyes to the lake to glare at it.The ragged male didn't even realize that for the absolute first time in his life, Emory was nowhere to be found in his thoughts. More so, the urge to protect was, also for the first time, not because of her.
As Aspen was telling her story rumbling could be heard from beside her. Was he growling? For a moment she thought it was at her but she realized quite quickly that no. That wasn't directed at her. It was directed at her family. The people she had in her life.

Nothing could have surprised her more than what came out of his mouth next. "If I ever so much as see any one of them, I'll be sure they regret what they did," he spoke in a low snarl. She couldn't grasp why he got so defensive, was that just what wolves did? She didn't think so. Was he protecting her? Or trying? If that's what it was it was already evident to her there was something about this wolf. Just something that made him special, that made her feel safe.

The feelings although still surprising, ones that would normally make her feel ill. The thought of even trusting someone with her story, let alone her life. Scared her, yet with Charley. She wasn't so scared. She had hated she had to go back to those times and the flashbacks that had ensued, but at the same time she was glad. Glad that she had finally told someone, something.

Her gaze returned to him, she was unsure of what to say. All she could manage was a "Thank you," and a small grateful smile. She pushed her muzzle once again into his shoulder, this one she let last longer than the first. She treated it like a second thank you, showing him how much it meant that she could tell him something like that. Thank you for taking the time to listen. She thought to herself but no words were spoken.

Aspen leaned down to take a drink from the lake, she found herself increasingly tired as the sun threatened to dip below the horizon. Part of her thought it was best she get going, the other part wanted to be around him more. What? Very rare Aspen was able to spend longer than an hour talking with a wolf yet strangely enough. They had been here at least a few. What was this wolf doing to her? Nothing bad of course but, certainly nothing familiar either. The cracks in her walls were increasing, something she never thought any wolf would do. Yet he seemed to do it with ease.

Fade soon? I don't want to but at the same time it seems this may be a good place to start a fade? I'll be posting a couple threads up probably this weekend. Maybe I'll tag :') If not. You know where to find me :P Feel free to tag as well :) I'd be glad for some threads.
I dont want to let them go T_T Ill probably throw one up tomorrow at the latest, since he's got nothing else really going.

Her second touch was not as surpising, twice as warm, and it was the final urge needed for her to slip past his guards. Not break them, not just yet, but she was on the inside now: Something only Emory had accomplished. Neither of them would know it for goodness knows how long, but this very moment was the one in which he forever protect her. He relished in her warmth, and leaned after her a little as she left him cold. The ragged wolf kept going, however, only just brushing shoulders, and reached down for a drink to cover that he'd really been reaching for HER. If he wanted any sort of future with her, even friends, he couldnt go around weirding her out. Charley, too, looked at the sun and felt his paws heavy with tiredness. He smiled at her kindly, tail waving high in the air.
"Mind if I walk you home, my lady?"
He puffed up proudly, like he was doing something of great importance. To him, of course, it WAS something of high priority. The ginger, cream, and black patched male padded forwards a few steps, with a glance back to see if she would follow. If she did, and if she allowed, he would walk close enough to her for thie fur to mingle, but still not quite touch.
After she finished her drink she sat up and licked her maw. Then Aspen rose and stretched. She was tired and she presumed so was Charley. As if to have read her mind Charley offered to walk her home. Such a gentlemen. She mused and chuckled slightly as he made himself look all proud.

"Not at all," she said with a warm smile before padding in the direction of her den. This evening had been great. Not only had she met someone new. She was able to tell the wolf more than she had ever told any one. Larksong was finally starting to feel like home. She walked alongside the male her tail wagging slowly by her legs.

She was happy, truly happy. She gave a couple glances to Charley here and there but mainly she was letting her mind wander, for once it wasn't going anywhere bad. Perhaps she could finally put her past behind her.

Once the two wolves reached her den she bid Charley goodnight with a dip of her head and a smile. "Goodnight Charley," she spoke softly before turning and padding into her den. This was a fresh start, a new beginning for Aspen. She could just feel it.

The end... :( Thread soon Raven!! You're a phenominal writer. If I can figure out how I'll archive this soon
