Liri padded softly through the woods, a distraught look on her face. How many more? How many more would be gone? So many had come and gone, some just dissapearing without a trace. It almost made her believe that there were ghosts in Rosings, perhaps a curse fell on the land with the locusts.

She hadn't know all of them well, only a handful that had actually been her friends. The arctic wolf still felt their loss in her chest, still felt the pain of her pack dwindling wolf by wolf. A few tears streaked down her muzzle.

Ammalyn.

Saries.

Madeleine

Claudia

Goober.

Gotham.

Possibly Tsuki.

Who was next? Faramir? Maja? Sam? Would people just keep dissapearing, just keep dying? Liri settled by the small stream, knowing she was probably being foolish. Only a few of them had been acquainted well with her, the others she talked to maybe once.

And yet they had been pack, something she had grown to appreciate after being taken in by Aaron. After losing so much as a child, she didn't want to lose her new family too.
Each day was a new battle for Samuel. Each day he could feel his chest swell with pain and bleed with tears at night. Each day his paws grew heavy. Each day he felt lost.

but he had to stay strong. For her. For Liri. She was the reason he was still here, for her.

he saw his beautiful mate, near a quiet stream. Her muzzle looked damp from fresh tears. Sam felt his heart lurch as he made his way over.

he made his way close to her, giving off a small whine. Why was she crying? Why was she hurting? He plopped next to her, offering her a small nudge on the shoulder with his nose.

"are you alright?"
Stop blubbering like a stupid pup. She swiped a paw across her muzzle to wipe away the evidence as Sam approached her with obvious concern on his face. Crying would change nothing, the others needed her or at least Sam did.

"I'm okay," Liri assured him. "I'm just afraid of losing the others." Of losing you. Her worries were credited, it was possible more than one would succumb to the famine that had spread through the land with the locusts arrival.

Liri moved closer, burying her head into his chest as she found herself doing lately. It was comforting, the fear of physical touch dissapearing and replacing it with love for the large stormy gray male.
She was afraid. Somethig Samuel couldn't do anything about but try to comfort her. He could see her wipe away her tears, and he could only try to think of ways to comfort her. She moved closer to his frame, soon letting her head seek comfort in his open chest.

"I'll always be here, love" he whispered into her fur.

He let off a small smile, nudging the top of her head with his muzzle softly. Her warmth comforted him greatly, and he could only sit in silence. For some reason, it was very fitting for him to just sit and comfort her. It felt... right.
Liri pulled back with the intent of saying something, perhaps to ask a question, but suddenly seeming to realize how close they were. Any thoughts faded and her words died on her tongue.

Feeling bold and shy at the same time, Liri licked him on the muzzle gently before returning her head to his fur. She found she couldn't look at him, somehow irrationally afraid of being rejected by him. Her tail wagged as she burrowed into him bashfully, replaying the kiss in her mind.

I've been wanting them to kiss so sorry if that seemed kinda random :P
*squeals and rolls around*

He was shocked. Utterly shocked. His patient, his love, his everything; finally gave him something he yearned for. A very small and delicate kiss. It was not out of lust that the prophet wanted it, but instead it was out of wanting to know if she felt the same way he did. And sure as heck, Liri did.

Samuel couldn't help but feel his grin widen. Liri returned to her basful state in burrying herself into his fur. Samuel didn't mind though, he loved feeling her warmth against himself.

He lowered his head, just the tiniest bit, to plant a very soft lick on the top of her head. He couldn't help but feel his heart turn into a fountain of joy, every single drop from the fountain was a second he spent with Liri that he enjoyed.

All he could so now was just appreciate that she returned his love fully, and he could cherish her forever.

haha omg they're so cute, Sam's friggin adorable!

Liri felt him lick the top of her head, a sort of wolfy version of kissing one's forehead, and smiled against his chest as her tail beat a happy rythm. With an elated whine, she closed her eyes and savored the feeling of being truly and utterly in love.

She rubbed her face into his shoulder and neck affectionately, leaving her scent on him as a sort of marker. Pulling back slightly once more, she smiled at him shyly. "I love you."
I love you. Three words he hadn't heard in many months after he left. Three words that meant the world to him. Three words that he heard from the one he cherished most. Liri pulled away to tell him these words. Samuel couldn't help but boop her nose with his own, his soft grey eyes gently looking into hers.

"I love you too" he said, feeling warmth envelop him as the words escaped his dark lips. Whether it was fate or choice, Samuel couldn't have been blessed with a more lovely and fair mate than Liri.
She giggled softly as he bopped her on the nose, warmth flowing in her at his reciprocation of her feelings. Liri had never known unconditional love but it felt amazing not to be the only one who cared about her.

She curled into him, resting her head against his forelegs as an open invitation to lay his head atop her neck much like their first therapy lesson. For a moment Liri could forget they were in a famine, forget the dwindling numbers of the pack; and just be with her mate.
