Time and time again had Charley found himself thrown into situations with Aspen, even when they weren't seeking each other out. Fate seemed to bring them together, and it wad today that the rugged male decided he would tell the silvery femme of his courting wishes. He'd already started, sort of, in his pet names and promises of protection.
Emory was off doing... Well, Emory, he supposed. She'd followed him here, but then left not long after the locusts ran through. Why had she left him here, alone, with no words of departure or when she'd be home. Could she not have taken him with her? He'd never spoken of Aspen, but perhaps her scent being on him more and more had driven her away? Was she jealous?
He needed Aspen. More than ever, with Emory's pending absence from his life. So, heading towards where her scent was strongest, Charley loosed a howl for his only love interest, @Aspen
It was time he told her of his feelings, lest she take a leave from him too. Waiting too long would mean risk losing her, and that was something so totally unacceptable to him that it HURT his very soul.
Aspen was curled up in her den daydreaming/taking a nap when a howl that she had come to enjoy hearing called out to her. It was charley and she felt herself smile at the thought of him actually wanting to be around her. She was wanted. She stood up and poked her head out of the den and stretching.

Aspen spotted Charley not to far off and trotted happily over to him. "Hey handsome whats up" she mused not really thinking before the words rolled off her tongue. Where that came from she had no clue but it was too late to take it back now....besides it wasnt exactly a lie.

She liked him a lot she was just too nervous to admit it although she had a sneaking suspicion he did too because he had sworn to protect her and he kept calling her angel. Not to mention they always ran into each other. Always.
She came to him swiftly, and his heart soared up from the depths of shadow where it'd been sulking about his sisters abandonment. To make it all better, she seemed not only happy to see him but had graced him with a sort of pet name of his own. The brute closed the distance between the two, nuzzling down into her shoulder and inhaling her scent with a charming grin splayed across his features. God, was she addicting.... He hoped the touch wasn't too much for her, but went on to tell her why he'd called to her in the first place.
"I had something I wanted to talk to you about, angel."
Aspen felt her heart skip a beat as he embraced her nuzzling his head into her shoulder. Her stomach was doing backflips but she was also really happy. Happy to see him, happy that he had done that and just genuinly happy. Despite hunger. Charley always cheered her up.

She returned his gesture with her own nuzzle before sitting back and tilting her head waiting for him to speak. He mentioned having something to tell her nd immediately he had Aspen's ears and full attention. Boy was she curious. She felt like asking a million question but rather than rambling she tried to keep calm. "Oh really? What is it you want to talk about?" she said with a playful but curious tone.
It was too late to back down now, but honestly Charley wouldn't have anyway. He was confident in his words and actions, and even more sure that this was the right thing to do.
"Well, I'd like to talk about YOU, angel. Or, rather, the posibility of an... US."
He paused briefly, carribean eyes connecting with her own lighter blue orbs and holding them as he went on. Not in a dominant or aggressive way, but one that was kind and trying to read all he could of her reactions, as well as make sure she knew he was SERIOUS. This wasn't some prank, and this wasn't some con he was working towards. The only thing he would get out of this was the gorgeous, stimulating female sitting beside him.
"I'd like to, formally, begin courting you."
Aspen couldn't help but smile again when charley spoke. "Well, I'd like to talk about you angel. Or, rather, the possibility of an us." us. Us. US. The word kept repeating over in her head. There WAS an us. That must mean he liked her too. She had no words forming on her tongue for what seemed the longest time and then he spoke again. "I'd like to, formally begin, courting you."

Those words were the ones Aspen had been secretly hoping for. Right from the start maybe even before that, deep down every wolf dreams of finding a companion and until now Aspen had feared she would never find one. She was doomed to be alone. Until she met Charley. He made her feel not so alone.

"Yes," she said without even taking a second to think about it. There was not a doubt in her mind that she wanted to give this a shot. She leaned over to him giving him a quick lick on the cheek her tail swaying happily beside her.
Growing up, he wanted nothing more than to find someone to rule with over his own lands, to stay by his side and guide him through all he did.
Until now, that someone was leaning closer towards Emory. She'd been the only one in his life on a constant, and one he would be glad to rule beside... But it wasn't the same. The patched male wanted a MATE to rule beside, and that was something that wasn't possible with his sister. Perhaps that was the reasoning behind her leaving?
It didn't really matter right now, and the rush of happiness flooding his limbs drove him to again press into her silver side.
"I'll show you I'm someone worth spending your life with, Aspen, I promise."
Of course there was still much, much more there was to learn about the other: but now nothing would be out of bounds. Now he could tell her of his dishonest past and theiving ways, only to hope that she would accept that he was willing to change for her.
Aspen accepted his embrace once more her tail happily swaying behind her. Oddly she had an enormous amount of energy for a wolf who hadn't eaten a significant meal in weeks. She nodded as Charley spoke about him proving himself to her and Aspen couldn't really see he had anything left to prove but she would let him and hope for the best.

Perhaps someday she could take him on as her mate. All their past behind them at last and only eachother and any other wolves they encounter in their lives that prove themselves trust worthy. "And I you," she spoke calmly knowing the proving thing swung both ways. She had shared her past with him but there was still a lot she could prove.

"You know you're the first wolf I have ever comepltely trusted, with anything. My life....my story. The real me. The one hidden beneath the broken wolf with a twisted past. I feel safe, when you're around. The one wolf that perhaps wouldn't hurt me," she stated pushing her muzzle into his shoulder taking in his scent. "You're special," she added whispering into his fur.

Cue the fireworks :P I don't know where to take this? Talk more about them selves? Anything really XD
Her responce didn't fall on deaf ears, but Charley didn't comment, for in his eyes there was nothing more she could do to convince him of his decision further. Knowing argument was futile, however, kept his jaws shut on the subject.
Aspen's next string of words though did provoke a reaction, heightening his joy further. The good mood, however, was tempered by the knowledge now pushing to the front of his mind. Things he knew that she had a right to know, of course, but something he also wasn't sure if he should give up now or not.
"I had my father, for a time, and my sister, up until the locusts.... I have to admit, Aspen, I am not a good man. I don't have a great past, and it's all due to my own actions. I've hidden the real me under so many layers of lying and manupulation that I think it's melding with my true person.  I'm sure the only ones alive to know the real me are Reek and Emory. I want you to be the one to know the real me, without all the walls and bullshit covering who really loves you."
Aspen listened intently as Charley spoke of his father and his sister, whom she noted she had yet to meet let alone find, and he explained that he wasn't a good man. That he had a pretty dark past. He explained he had lots of walls and lies and manipulation that was affecting who he truly was and that the only wolves who knew the real him were Emory and Reek.

Aspen was slightly worried but she was more worried that he wasn't ready to tell her what hes hiding more than worried about what he is hiding. She doubted that anything he said now could change how she felt. The Charley she knows will still be the same charley even when he explains what was so dark about his past.

He has changed since those times because the wolf she knows now is kind hearted and wants to keep her safe. Sure he is broken a little inside but so was she and she would be there for him. They would get through whatever his past contained together. He wouldn't have to fight alone, not anymore.

"I wish I had had even any family to help me, but they all turned their backs on me and so I haven't really had anyone to teach me how to function in society. I just learned a lot of it on my own." she explained while refelcting on how her family had treated her like she never really existed. She had learned simply by watching them or by practicing on her own. Her second pack had helped her improve but even they got up and left after a while.

She spoke again "We all have made mistakes, or done things we aren't proud of Charley, but nothing could change what I feel right now, it would only make me care about you more. I would see how much you have changed from who you were to who you are now. Just know we all have demons of sorts... just now you don't have to fight them alone," she finished not breaking eye contact with his the entire time she spoke. She spoke from the heart.

"I would love to know the real you, you just have to trust that I'm not going anywhere," she said meaning every single word of it. This was a wolf she cared a lot about and she wasn't afraid to admit it anymore.
Charley could see the worry in her blue eyes, and he sat silently through her words. Her eyes kept his attention, doting on her every word. By the end, he was leaning in closer to her. The rugged male admired the fact she basically had to teach herself everything, and thought of him and Embry setting off on their own. Sure, their father had taught them just about everything they did know, but they had no experience in it.
"Aspen, I'm glad you're going to be with me through this. I promise, I'll put in the full effort to change and let down my walls. I wont let you down.... I don't want to give you a reason to go anywhere."
Aspen smiled and gave Charley a soft smile as he spoke telling her he would try his hardest to be the best for her and that he was glad she would be with him through all of this. "I'm glad that I can be the one to help you and be there for you. I wouldn't want it any other way," she stated before continuing

"You won't let me down. I can feel it somewhere deep down," she said calmly meaning every word that fell from her lips.  She could sense something about Charley was different from the other wolves. She cared for him, felt safe around him, had a lot of fun, and they made a great pair in general. Not to mention he was handsome. That's a bonus.

Fade soon since this is from a while ago and Drama :P ??
Happiness bubbled up into his throat, and Charley couldn't help the laugh that fell from his black lips. She'd accepted him, in all his pains and rough edges. He would not.... COULD not let her down. This silvery female was all he had left in the world, and never would she be taken from the stubborn male.
Instead of speaking, he pressed his face into her shoulder from where they laid side touching side, breathing deep her scent and beginning to groom her gently. The need to protect and provide rushed through him even more than before, far surpassing what he felt he had to do for his twin. Aspen was much more precious to him, much more important. Like a jewel, perhaps, though he knew she was strong enough to do those things on her own.
