A growl still thrumming in his throat, Shrike left the packlands immediately following his brief discovery of Peter's death, hot on the scent of the female wolf who had murdered him. She'd done nothing to save herself, and had left a trail that occasionally left a drop of blood from her coat or lips to lead him on. She had to be foolish, to leave the packlands like that, without even attempting to bury the remains or take them with her...And with that, Shrike decided that this female had a death wish, and that he would be the one to deliver the final blows- unless Fox or Peregrine showed up, of course, at which point he would do his best to tear himself away from making the kill and leave it to them.

His mind was too frazzled to even think of what Fox and Peregrine would go through. What about the other pups? This would likely scar them for life- and he realized, when he finally cast a thught to the pups, that Ferret had likely seen his brother's body, torn to bits and eaten with the exception of a heavily mutilated head and broken spine. He shuddered as he ran, remembering the disfigured profile of Peter's face, covered with blood and disproportionate. He recovered from his shock, growled, and continued tracking the female.

The scent trail became clearer and clearer, and he stopped once or twice to investigate the place where the meal she'd stolen had been regurgitated and then, obviously, eaten once more. This only served to fuel his rage, and he picked up the pace again, closing in on her scent through the night, until he made an alarming discovery.

She was headed back toward the packlands again.

Picking up a sprint, he followed the trail which had taken an undeniable turn, and with the scent trail getting fresher and fresher, he was able to continue tracking her back toward the packland at a flat out run. He would stop her even if it took his own life in the process. This murderer would not walk away from the Redhawk Caldera again.
