For the wonderful @Spring the Great :D

Laika had grown ever worried about Saena. Her pale leader had gone from respected and humble, to just plain bonkers in a matter of days. The pale Gamma was just about to set off on her own journey to find her when a familiar sounding howl found it's way to her ears. Spring. Her friend told not only Laika but the whole Silver Creek of what had happend, and Laika's mouth nearly dropped to the floor. It was almost surreal. Saena, the one she'd always looked up to was gone, and possible gone for good. Her stomach churned and a sorrowful whine escaped her throat, unbidded tears stinging her eyes. But what came next rocked her body with very, very different emotions. Spring, her best friend since childhood was now the alpha. Pride and worry hit the girl at the same time and she was so overwhelmed with emotion she rocked on her feet. She trusted Spring with all her heart but could she do it? Could she lead a pack as powerful as the Creek was?

Laika shook her head and sat down, her head spinning. Her earlier thoughts of creating a pack to call her own completely vanished from her mind, and quite possibly forever. They were quickly replaced with a determination that glowed fiercely in her eyes. She would be there for Spring to help guide her through hard times and she would never, ever leave her side. Those same thought came to her when she thought about Casmir. There was a light there, that Laika wanted to explore, to reach into and see what it held. It made her excited when she thought about it and she smiled just thinking about it. She shook her mind of that and stood up, steadying herself on her shaky paws. She raised her white head to the sky and let a long howl escape her vocal cords, calling to one wolf and only that wolf. Spring.
Spring was debating her first moves to make in Silver Creek.  She knew that it would be nice to have others in the hierarchy as her Beta's to help advise her on choices that she made... yet she wasn't entirely sure who those someone's should be for sure at the moment... although there were two wolves that she really was considering and thought would make excellent choices to join her in the leadership as Beta's.  Her thoughts broke apart though as Laika's howl rang through the air, and so the brown furred female instantly began to make her way towards her best friend.

Upon arriving, Spring flashed her friend a weak attempt at a friendly smile as she approached.  Thoughts had once again began to run through her mind and for a brief moment stress flashed through her eyes, but then was gone, hidden for now.  "Hello Laika."  Spring greeted her friend, as she reachd the pale coated female's side.  "How are you?"
Laika saw her beloved Spring race into the clearing and Laika couldn't help herself. She lunged at her, ambracing her in a wolfish hug and licked her cheek. All of her sorrow was gone. It was time to celebrate! "I can't believe it Spring!! You're my Alpha!" She shrieked, then she realized what she was doing. "I-i'm sorry. That was wierd." She backed up and gave her friend a very exaggerated bow. She sat down in front of her with a sheepish smile, though her tail thumped the ground hard. "Is it really true? Is she gone?" She asked in a small voice. She thought she already knew the answer, but she had to make sure.

Then she sat up tall, the earlier determination returning. "I promise I will never leave you're side though. I will always be there for you when you need it, Spring."
Spring did not expect what happened next, through all the sorrow, stress and partial guilt that Spring was feeling, Laika never failed to make her smile a real smile.  As her friend tackled her in a wolfish embrace and shrieked that Spring was her Alpha now, a small smile slide across Spring's features and her thoughts seemed to confirm that she had some good ideas on the next Beta Female.  Although no Beta's would be appointed on a day like this, it just wasn't time... yet.

As Laika finally back off of her and gave her a very exaggerated bow, which also made Spring feel much better, sadness returned to cloud Spring thoughts as soon as her best friend asked if Saena was gone.  Really gone.  Spring didn't answer yet though, because Laika asn't finished speaking yet.  Soon after the question, she promised her loyalty to Spring which made the new Alpha feel good.  SPring took a deep breath and sat down, as she got ready to answer Laika.

"Sadly Saena really is gone.  It's true."  Spring told Laika in a sadder tone, glancing at the ground for a moment then flicked her eyes back up.  ""I hope I can be as good as her, maybe even better... or compared to before she went... crazy."  Spring explained to Laika, her voice taking on a decrescendo as she finished the sentence.  Spring sighed and her eyes brightened with a little bit of hope.  "I am sure that I can help bring positive change to this Pack though, that is my mission."
Laika listened to Spring speak with a mix of sorrow and excitement. She nodded along, as her eyes changed from sorrowful to hopeful. She wagged her tail as she watched Spring herself grow hopeful and determined. She listened to her declaration of her mission. "And I will aid you as much as you can on that mission. Just call for me and I'll be there." She smiled and gave her a teasing wink before heaving a long shakes breath.

It it had been a long day and the course of events had both surprised and tired her out. She would miss Saena, that's for sure, but she knew that Spring would be good for this pack. Spring was just made to lead.
Short post >.<
Spring was happy to have so much support from a wolf that was much like a sister to her.  The Alpha let out a breath of relief.  "Thank you so much Laika.  For your support."  Spring paused for a few moments before contiuning.  "It really means a lot to me to know that you will stand by your side.  It just feels great."  Spring told her friend and subordinate with grattitude mixed heavily into her tone.

Still Spring found herself wondering if she could ever really become as good as a natural leader as Saena - before she went crazy and dissapeared - was.  If she could, then maybe the guilt that she could've added stress onto Saena to make her go mad, would hopefully dissapear.
Laika nodded thoughtfully. She smiled as Spring thanked her, but she really didn't need it. She knew that if it was Laika in her position, Spring would be doing the same thing. "I'm always at your side, don't worry. You're going to be a great alpha!"

She nudged her friend's cheek, grateful for Spring. Laika had grown up with two other brothers, and she was never able to experience having a sister. Until she met Spring that is. Just like Spring, Laika saw her as a sister, and the best sister a wolf could have. She didn't know why all these crazy emotions were coming to the surface right now, but all she could do was celebrate her best friend in the whole wide world
Spring sighed, but her eyes brimmed with a little more determination and hope that she could do this job and be Alpha of Silver Creek.  The Alpha stood, warmly acknowledging her firend.  "Thank you for always being there for me Laika.  Your a better friend than I ever deserved..."  Spring trailed off to stop a few words that were about to come.

With that Spring began to turn to make her leave.  "It's been nice talking with you Laika, Thank you for everything."  Spring told her friend and then paused for a moment in case any response came, then the Alpha turned and began to head towards the pups.  They would need more help from the pack with their biological Mother and biological Father absent from their lives... and Spring wanted to help them.

Last from me!  Thanks for the thread.  :)
Yup! Last from me.

Laika listened to Spring speak and she nodded along. Her tail swished back and forth, creating patterns in the battered dirt. Finally, Spring stood up to leave, and Laika stood with her. She nudged her shoulder in a goodbye. "Bye Spring. Call me when you need me." Then she turned around, emotions flooding her again. She had managed to control herself in front of Soring, but now she wasn't able to. She let her paws lead her where they wanted to go, and they took her to King Elk Forest.
