border patrol AW. perhaps @Charley Pryor or @Aspen? :)

There was little Nico did after his incident with Charley and Aspen other than patrolling and hunting; those two activities helped clear his mind as well as help his concentration. A lot of things were bothering him these days, though two stood out in particular. Aeronwyn, and his little fight with Charley. He couldn't believe he'd lost control like that; it hadn't happened in ages and this time, it was the Queen he'd nearly attempted to breed with. Gods, what kind of person was he?

The sterling soldier spat bitterly onto the ground and walked on, lifting his leg to spray at the base of a tree before continuing on. Now that Aspen's heat was probably over, he wondered what Charley would do with him. Banish him? Well, now that he thought about it, might be an easy way to go off with Aeronwyn.
Aspen was on a walk for the first time in a little over a week. She had been confine to her den because she was still in heat and would rather not take any more risks. It was bad enough there was almost an incident with Nico. Aspen wandered aimlessly through the trees with no particular destination before deciding she would start a patrol.

As she headed for the border though she could tell it had already been marked meaning someone else was already on patrol. The scent told her it was Nico. She paused for a moment as if to decide whether to go talk to him about what happened or just avoid it a whIle longer. No, I can't avoid this forever She thought to herself quietly trotting to catch up with him.

It wasn't long before she spotted him through the trees and slowed her pace to a walk. Letting out a chuff to let him know she was here. She held herself high and proud as per usual but this time almost as if she had something to prove to herself, or to him. She had yet to figure out.

Hope you don't mind me taking this Charley haha.
The moment Nico caught Aspen scent, he felt a mixture of panic and eerie calmness. He continued walking, however, mentally wondering if she would rather put it off for another time as it'd only been a week and perhaps it was still rather awkward for her. But apparently, that was not the case. Instead, the Queen chuffed softlly and almost reluctantly, although that wasn't obvious, the soldier turned around, his posture lowering and shifting into one of submission, eyes carefully averted in respect.

"Queen Aspen," Nico murmured softly. "I'd like to apologise for my inexcusable attitude and the way I approached you during your heat. While it was partly the hormones, I was not strong enough to fight it off and gave in to the urges, thus making it my fault. I'm so, very sorry for my actions and I hope that one day, I can earn your forgiveness," he breathed out.
Aspen watched carefully as Nico turned and fell into a more submissive and respectful posture. Aspen acknowledged this with a small dip in her head. Her ears twitched as he then began to apologize.

He spoke acknowledging that he knew what he had done wrong and that he apparently wasn't strong enough to fight off the effects that the hormones she gave off during heat. "I understand that it is hard when a female is in heat to resist the urges that come with it, however, that does not mean I am by any means okay with what happened last week. Not only did you step over the boundaries into the tunnels but you tried to take somebody who is not rightfully yours. Let alone your alpha," she spoke relatively calmly. She was not angry with Nico for what he did, just dissapointed. Though she worried Charleys opinion may be slightly different.

" I do appreciate the apology and I know that it is sincere,  just know that it may take time to earn back some the respect you have lost from me, and from Charley," Aspen said pausing before adding one last thing. "I recommend trying to speak to Charley the next time you two cross paths though be warned he isn't likely going to be as calm as myself. He is more likely to be angry where as I am just disappointed." The whole time the queen spoke her face remained rather serious but calm. She did not intend her words to be harsh, she did intend though to get her message across.

Aspen turned slightly and  proceeded to walk just ahead of where Nico stood."That being said, there is work to be done and I do believe this patrol will get done twice as fast if there are two of us than if I was to leave you do ithat alone, " she stated as she marked a tree not far ahead and glanced back to see if he would follow.

Apologies if the spacing is weird near the end. Phone doesn't like me.
Aspen spoke, and while Nico had been expecting it, his heart sank nonetheless and he swallowed thickly, turning his head to the left as he looked away, wondering how he could ever be so stupid to make such an idiotic mistake. Gods, who even was he? A respectable soldier, or a guy who couldn't keep his dick in his metaphorical pants. Given the circumstances, he was inclined to believe the latter and he scowled. He definitely needed to get back into the soldier mindset and away from that of....whatever he currently was. A part of him blamed it on this pack's peaceful settings, one that lived without war, but he knew it was not that that was bothering him. No, it was something within himself that needed fixing, and he was going to do just that.

"I know and I understand. I don't expect any forgiveness whatsoever; what I did was inexcusable and unforgivable and I'll completely understand if you wish to kick me out or banish me for my actions," he said. Banishment wasn't so bad, it gave him an excuse to go with Aeronwyn, but the more noble part of him told him that it would be a disgraceful way to go and he sighed, wondering what the hell he was going to do with himself.

"Oh, I can imagine that," Nico said, his tone grim, at her mention of Charley. If it came down to it, he could hold his own against the King, but he'd rather not fight, given the fact that if he did fight against the Alpha of this pack, not only would he be branded a traitor forever, but he'd lose any ounce of respect the King still had for him...and, well, there would be injuries. Not on him, obviously, but on Charley. Or perhaps it was just his ego speaking, although soldiering had sharpened up his skills so he was unafraid if confronted with a fight.

The soldier nodded and followed Aspen, marking the next tree just ahead of her own.
Aspen'still ears twitched as Nico spoke again saying he did not expect forgiveness but what made her stop in her tracks was the last few words. Banish or kick out. Aspen narrowed her eyes though she knew he could not see for he was walking ahead. " Nico, why would I do that. What happened is not a banishable offense in my books. You stepped over boundaries and tried to take me.....but you didn't.  You snapped out of it and left when Charley showed up. Had you continued your approach, or had fought charley. Perhaps this would be a slightly different conversation, but you didn't.  So I see no reason to kick you from the rankings of the court," she spoke sternly. More frustrated this time with the fact that he thought she would kick him out but at the same time, he wasn't fully aware what to expect from the king and queen so she had some sort of understanding.

" Just means you might have to work a bit harder to earn a higher ranking in our pack or it might take longer because we have to get past what happened, I know that I can and will, Charley, might take some coaxing but I have no doubt in time and with respect and loyalty from you, he should get past it too," she finished as she began to move again marking tree after tree.
An overwhelming amount of bitterness suddenly rushed over him and it was all Nico could do to withhold the scowl and the sneer that threatened to break through his impassive facade. To be completely honest, the soldier wasn't sure why he was feeling bitter towards both Aspen and Charley, but he knew it had something to do with.....actually, strike that, he had absolutely no clue as to why he was feeling this way, but he did know that it was making him very irrtable and angry indeed and as he stared at Aspen's back, he felt the irrational urge to leap at her and either screw her, or pin her to the ground. Don't ask him why, because even the silver gentleman did not know. These were not urges that plagued him on a daily basis.

Instead, Nico swallowed, blinked and shut his maw, a muscle twitching in his jaw as he followed Aspen, marking the borders as he went. No more words escaped his mouth as he contemplated his current predicament as calmly as he could, finding that it was much harder than he'd thought it would be with his cranky irritableness.
When Aspen had spoken she had every intention of perhaps calming Nico's mind and releasing any tension in the air, especially after he had apologized so sincerely. Yet, the tension did not decrease, if anything his increased and that worried the queen.

She paused for a moment turning her head towards him cautious but still confident she spoke. " Are you...Okay?" she stated holding her gaze on his face. He sure didn't seem alright.

Heh. Do what you want with this post lol. Open for just about anything.
She turned to look at him and asked him if he was okay, meeting his gaze evenly. Nico cocked his head, repressing his emotions and adopting an impeccable facade of calm as he looked at her, his countenance clear of his internal turmoil and he flashed her a half smile, "As okay as a soldier can be," he replied enigmatically, lifting a shoulder in a shrug before turning away to continue his duties as a border patrol. He cared little of what Aspen thought of him at the moment, because, after all, who cares? He was leaving soon, anyways.

Man, he really wished he could tlel her that now and see the look of petrified terror slide across her face. That would be nice. He was really, really tempted to do so.

In fact, he was so tempted that he actually turned around and opened his maw to announce the good news before shutting it abruptly, and allowing one of his charming smiles to grace his lips. "Nevermind."
Aspen frowned slightly as if not convinced by Nico's statement. Though she dare not act on it and decided it best to just continue on the task at hand. She knew not of what else could be said now.

Her eyes widened slightly as Nico seemed to turn to say something but he had changed his mind halfway through and ended up just muttering a nevermind. Aspen sighed but wandered up to a tree and marked it with her scent. It was possible the rest of this patrol would be spent in silence, but right now that didn't seem like such a bad idea.

Fade soon? Idk?
fade after one more post from you? :)

He cursed himself for being a coward, biting his lip as his eyes narrowed furiously with suppressed rage. Bowing his head, Nico continued forward, a dark bitterness gripping his heart as he thought of his current predicament. How he wished he could run away now and escape the constraints of Royal Fire Court and back into the embrace and presence of Aeronwyn. Sadly, however, he had way too much respect for both himself and his reputation to leave those who'd given him a home without a proper reason and farewell. Never in his life had he wanted to be less of a gentleman, until now.

"C'mon," Nico muttered gruffly as he finished marking a tree and rounded to another one further ahead, leaving, he hoped, sufficicent distance between Aspen and himself. What he needed right now was alone time and a bunch of rest...maybe some fermented fruit too. Could this patrol get any worse?
Aspen's eyes narrowed unknow to the male that was now a significant distance in front of her. She muttered a few words to herself but continued to mark trees along the border making sure the border was well stated. Though she had no doubt that it would be.

She followed Nico until they ended up reaching the other side of the mountain and then she quickly parted ways without words.Aspen made a bee line for the tunnels where she intended to spend most of the rest of the day. The last half of the patrol had been spent in a tense silence that neither wolf dared to break.  Seems they both ended up in bad moods and it was pointless trying to fight him for conversation if neither party really wanted it.
