It's about time I started a thread for the kiddos. :) If you guys have time!

@Grayday had woken her early that morning, before the sun had risen, and nosed her fur in departure. He even told her where he’s going but her mind lagged behind several seconds and she completely missed it. By the time her jaws open to ask, he’s already slipped from the den and gone about his business. She can only gather he wants her to stay in the den for a while to keep an eye on the children. It’s too late to try and get out of it now as he disappears entirely from view.

She looks over to see both of them still sleeping, cuddled up against one another. They’d grown on her in the last several weeks but she still felt a disconnect she doesn’t want to confess, nor does she really know how to put into words. She still feels like a child herself and she rejects the responsibility as much as she wants to help, giving her enough confliction she’s still able to bury.

Adeline stretches out her limbs and curls her neck into her chest as her muscles work out the stiffness. In the process, she accidentally shoves @Sunny with one of her back feet that promptly causes her to sit up. “Oh!” she calls in surprise, moving to nose between him and @Dawn. “I’m so sorry,” she murmurs after a few reassuring licks, hopeful he doesn’t think she’d done so on purpose.
Sunny gave a small grunt as he was woken up by one of Adeline's large hind paws, and sat up looking at her with sleep still in his eyes. He cast a look around the den as he shook off the nice dream he was having, he had caught a rabbit all by himself! Adeline's tongue lapped at his fur and he grunted again, unsure what to do about this. "Its all good Adeline. I had to wake up anyway" he said with a half hearted smile. Something had changed in Sunny, not really in a bad way but it made him seem much older than he was.

"Where'd daddy go? Are you alright?" he asked curiously. He had known that Grayday and Adeline had been spending time together, and hoped they hadnt had a fight. He hated it when fights broke out between pack members, it was so unescessary and caused issues. Wasn't that why Chaska had left?
Sunny doesn’t seem too pleased for the apologetic kisses she’d given him and so Adeline frowns. He pulls away and says it’s okay and it doesn’t quite feel okay but she tries to brush it off. The boy is quick to change the subject and Adeline works to pick herself up a little make herself comfortable. “Yeah, everything is okay,” she tells him. Her eyes drift to Dawn, still asleep, but she doesn’t make a move to try and wake her. “I think he just went somewhere real quick; he’ll be back.” Her voice is hopefully reassuring him enough that he doesn’t stress to much about where Grayday had gone but she didn’t know the boy that well even if they’ve shared a den for weeks. Their one on one time has been minimal but she hopes to change that now that he’s getting bigger and more solid on his legs.
The answer satisfied him and he nodded, looking down at Dawn with fondness. Standing up carefully so he didn't bump her, he looked at Adeline "Wanna go for a walk? Can you hunt?" he asked the first question casually but as the second question popped out of his mouth, he found the idea exciting so his eyes brightened up and his tail wagged eagerly. He wanted to try to catch something for once, on his own without any help. The only problem was he had no idea what to do at all.
Sunny seems to accept what she has to say and she offers a reassuring smile, thumping her tail a few times on the ground. He is quick to decide on something, however, and she considers the question but the second causes her head to tilt. “Of course I can!” she says, a little excitedly, and her butt wiggles to move her up right. She doesn’t leave the den, however, but she does peer outside it. “We can go for a walk but we should stay close in case your sister wakes up and wants to come,” she explains and points to the still slumbering girl.
He nods eagerly and then casts a look down at Dawn, before lowering his muzzle and touching his snout to he fur in the softest way before lifting it again and padding toward the entrance and stepping outside. It was a fairly nice day out, which was confusing because he coulda swore it was still winter. The breeze had a warmness to it that made him breath in deeply, and stetch himself up to his tallest height.

Turning his head to look back at Adeline he beckoned her forward "Could you teach me what to do?" he requested as he tilted his head to look up at her. He wanted to learn as quickly as possible so that if he ever needed to feed his dad and Dawn, he could do so without difficulty.
Sunny scurries out the door after a gentle kiss upon his sister’s muzzle. She watches him fondly with a thump of her tail and she drags herself up and out of the den in one fell swoop. She’d been quietly resentful of them but she feels a change every day. Most times, Adeline still feels like a little girl and that she shouldn’t be doing this but some days, more frequently, are less and less true. “I can try,” she explains as she moves around as if expecting something to be nearby. With a den filled with wolves, she doesn’t suspect rabbits or rodents linger nearby too often. “There’s a lot of patience involved. Something I’m not too good at yet,” she says with a smile and crinkle of her nose.

After a moment, Adeline gives her limbs a shake and puts her nose to the ground. “You gotta know their scents. Do you remember what rabbits smell like when Day brings for you guys?”
Sunny searched his mind for what a rabbit was, and finally remembered the specific animal. He and Grayday had played a particularly fun game of tug with a rabbit skin, and Sunny had ended up being dragged on the ground behind Grayday. The smell of that pelt was different from others, and Sunny knew that must be the Rabbit's particular scent. "Yeah! Kinda sweet in a way" he said eagerly.
He explains what he remembers rabbits smelling like and she nods. The meat is a little sweet, perhaps, but he hasn’t been trained on how to track them. Their scent is more than that but it is enough of a base that they should be able to find them. “They also smell kinda musky, let they’ve been sitting in a hole with old pee,” she explains. Her nose wrinkles comically at the thought with a chuckle and she bobs her head in one direction, nose to the ground. “Let’s see if we can pick up a trail.”
"So...sweet..and pee?" he muttered with a wrinkle of his own nose. Following Adeline's directions he sniffed the breeze, before lowering his nose to the ground and snuffling while he walked forward a few feet. Not smelling anything he looked to Addie to see if she was doing anything different than him.
Adeline doesn’t hear the comment the boy makes by the time she’s moved off a little, nose to the ground. Her tail waves idly back and forth as she tries to find something nearby without moving too far from the den Dawn is sleeping. Grayday may not have left her in “charge” of the children, but she is the oldest. So, by default? She doesn’t think much of it after a moment or two when she finds something. It’s faint and it’s likely a day or two old—a rabbit that probably got too close the den and reconsidered—but a trail all the same. She picks her head up to search for the boy, barking to draw attention to herself for him to come near.
Sunny was right behind Adeline, and when she seemed excited he sniffed the area by her smelling something interesting. Adeline had said it smelled musty, and he supposed musty was like pee and dust and fur and dirt, which is what he was smelling as well as the sweetness of the rabbit. "Addy I got it!" he said excitedly, tail wagging a mile a minute behind him.
After beckoning Sunny over, he’s able to find it rather quickly. Her tail wags excitedly behind her and she bobs her head a few times, leaning over to plant a few good licks across his face. “Good job!” she says, finally breaking away to give them space to work once more. “It’s a little old so it might not lead us anywhere, but it’s worth a trace. We might get lucky!” she explains, giving him a nudge before her nose plants back on the ground in mock preparation to see how much he can figure out on his own.
Pleased with the praise he lowered his head at her nudge, sniffing the ground. He moved forward and went to the left finding that the smell was fainter to the left than when he was facing straight ahead. Putting two and two together he went straight again until the scent faded and went to the right. This was fairly simple so far, the tracking part at least. Finally he found where the scent was coming from, a small hole in the side of a hill that was completely dark. "In here Addie" he called softly.
Adeline keeps her nose to the ground, searching along for a scent that may lead them somewhere, but she doesn’t actively search. There are too many things that could lead her and Sunny away from the den and Dawn by herself and then who knows what would happen. However, Sunny’s voice shouts for her as he finds something off to the side. She quickly approaches to see the whole, surprised by the younger boy’s find, and she lowers her nose to test it. It’s the same scent she’d found earlier that he tracked but the burrow is no fresher than the scent. She wrinkles her nose with a little disappointment but she brushes it off quickly.

“The scent is still old,” she reminds him with a frown, lowering to get closer to the entrance that proves her point. “But that’s exactly how you do it! You’ll be a great tracker,” she tells him with a swift wag of her tail.
He supposed if the scent was stronger that meant it was fresher? In a way that clicked in his brain, making complete sense. At Adeline's praise he stood up and wagged, rearing up and placing his paws on her shoulder and licking her face playfully. Out of every girl in the pack she was his favorite! With a furrow of his brow he corrected that thought, noting that Dawn was still his favorite but Addy sure came second!

"I wanna be like daddy when I am grown! A good hunter and a strong man!" he yipped eagerly, his chest puffing out.
He doesn’t dwell long on the fact it is an old scent and they aren’t really going to find anything. They are far too close to the den to find another animal, especially prey, to have taken residence. However, her praise and licks are enough to distract him and boast his confidence, bellowing out his goals for the future. “I bet you will be,” she tells him with a smile on her face, lowering her nose to nudge him. He is a good father, and role model, and he’s got some big feet to fill but she knows the boy will easily take his place. “Come on,” she says, nudging him again and this time back in in the direction of the den.
