how different were the waves tonight. when she had met the pale woman, they had crashed upon the shore with anger, threw themselves onto the rocks. now, the water was still, the fierce wind of yesterday but a breeze. from her position near her den, her ears were pricked, catching the whispering waves, and the softness of them. peering back toward the den that now she shared with her family, she considered creeping off a ways, to see the ocean again.
