The forest had welcomed him readily enough and he, a slick figment, crept about in the shadows without issue. The creature was tall and gaunt; he could fit in to the smallest places and go unnoticed with ease, skulking among the trees. He gave a few investigative sniffs to the air as he came up for air (so to speak) and found himself in a gaping field — he smelled wolf, but it was a weak scent. They were close. Without thinking he delved north, chasing that scent, and emerged along a curving ridge from which he could spy the caldera in the distance. Curious.
