This thread is read only, so no replies, please. Just developing Jinx's perspective on this. I'm going to assume that this occurs before Jinx discovers Ouroboros Spine since it'll tie in really well with that.

A black fury had gripped the Silvertip Mountain Alpha when they ousted Erika from their ranks. The Frenchwoman had admitted to relations with the traitor, Majesty, of an absolutely forbidden sort. There had been no question about stripping her of her rank and snapping at her heels until the scarred bitch had run for the lowlands, but for Jinx, it didn't end at that. Not this time.

The black-footed Kesuk had continued to follow Erika's scent long after she'd departed Silvertip's buffer zone. The woman had done little to hide herself, probably because she'd been running when she'd left the area. Presumably, Jinx's subordinates had returned to the mountain, though she wouldn't have been surprised if she did stumble upon one of them searching for the betrayer in Ravensblood Forest after all.

The black female's trail led further than Ravensblood, and further even than the point where rough shoreline met woodland, and she met none of her subordinates during that time. Diligently did the Outrider track the betrayer across the cold coastline, until finally she met the sea. She was briefly satisfied with the belief that Erika had swam out to serve her exile on Wheeling Gull Isle all by herself, but that faded when she encountered the scents of other wolves collected at the water's edge, prevailed by that of Majesty.

Her blood curdled at the whiff she caught of him, and her hackles prickled into a ridge of tiny spines. So this was where the cur had gone. Judging by the other collected scents in the area, the bastard had managed to gather followers under his lead or else had joined with a band of strangers, or so Jinx assumed. How the dog (for he was no wolf in her mind) had convinced others to follow his foolish philosophy of loners over pack mates, she was unsure, but there was nobody here to question about it, so she thought no further on it. Instead, she lashed her tail angrily, staring with stormy eyes out at the foggy island.

Instead of storming the isle as she wanted, the angry Kesuk female turned on her heel and marched back into Ravensblood Forest, plotting how she might fetch Erika back at a later time, only to rip the traitor's eyes from their sockets. She had allowed Tyrande to disappear without a word after openly challenging her mate's authority, she had allowed Majesty to raise his lip at Lecter, and she had refrained from hunting the chocolate brute down when he'd defended a loner over his own pack. But this, this was one too many instances of betrayal, and Jinx Kesuk would not allow this to slide without consequence.

This she vowed as she melted into the shadow of the mountains and padded home.
