With an echo of a pounding in his head remaining from his dangerous trans-dimensional journey Damien sought his mate. He had slept for an unnaturally long time that day and woke with a feeling of anxiety that he couldn't seem to shake off. It reminded him of the cold and the loneliness he felt in the void, filled with emptiness and desperation like he'd never felt before, but as he walked down the lakeshore the silhouette of the rest of his gang brought him a mild, yet soothing feeling.
still no sign of him?
was the first thing he thought of asking as he approached the trio from behind. Vaati was a key part of the plan and without him Damien felt they would be severely crippled. But he knows his nephew is a wild card and has enough patience to allow him to arrive at his own time. For now they would scout and settle somewhere safe, and whenever he came to them the real action could begin. As he joined the group Damien eyed Aries, with whom he had to talk with about many things, but went straight to caress the soft fur behind the ear of his lover with his nose.
And he finally showed. Paler even under the moonlight Vaati made his long expected entrance, and Damien's own moon eyes cast their light upon him. He had begun to feel that his nephew had lost interest in his cause and, in all honestly there was no way to judge him for that. It was stupid letting go of Blackfeather Woods instead of taking it back, but if asked Damien wouldn't hesitate to admit that his love for the land that saw him growing had dwindled ever since his first time away. There was more to discover, better things to achieve, and while he had his lover and his impetus Damien knew he was unstoppable.
It was about time you showed up,
said his uncle with a hint of exasperation.
We should move soon. We're too close to them,
he said and it was obvious he meant the forest looming dark at their backs. There were still things that Damien would have to try to get back, but there would be time for that later.
