for my lovely sister @Kiwi, who i still haven't had a thread with! gasp!  other tags are for reference.  if you want to have a thread detailing what i've described happening bts, just let me knoooow

Nomi was still holed up in Hougeda.  She was doing better, but she was still sick.  Tux still didn't quite understand that it was the water that he and Bat seemed to love so much that had done this to her.

He had kept more or less to himself.  Occasionally he would try to get @Blixen or Etoille to teach him how to spar, or find his ledge and watch the sky with @Silkie.  He enjoyed sitting in the rain with @Bat.

But he didn't know much about Kiwi, despite them being littermates and often in close quarters.  Today he sought her out.  Maybe he'd see if she liked the water, too.

Kiwi was fairly blissfully unaware of everything that was happening, not caring to get into the drama of the family.  The easiest way to not worry was not to think about it, and if it did not involve her, Kiwi was very good at not thinking about it.  She still visited @Wildfire and @Thuringwethil often, of course, and while sick, her nomi still had lessons to give.  That helped even more to allay whatever fears she might have had; they could not go places, but still.

Today she wasn't there though; she was actually taking a rare nap.  She'd just eaten and it kinda seemed the thing to do.  This was a nice little patch of sun she'd found, and she was taking full advantage.

He found her sleeping in a prime patch of sunlight, her small ribcage rising and falling.  Tux barrels over to her but stops just before impact and flops to the ground instead, butting little Kiwi just enough to make room for himself, too.

Wake up, sleepyhead, he teases, pushing one of his broad paws against her, I wanna play.

Kiwi was a pretty light napper and woke up almost immediately when Tux bumped her.  Still, she kept her eyes shut and groaned theatrically.

"Tuuuuux.  Who says I wanna play?" As she complained, though, she cracked an eye open, and couldn't keep from cracking a smile.  She always wanted to play.

His paw pressed against her harder as he loosed a laugh.  Her smirk betrayed the words that came out of her mouth.  Kiwi always wanted to play, and he was grateful for her kind demeanor.  Maybe it was wrong to choose favorites, but Kiwi was the frontrunner for his favorite littermate.  She just had such a good attitude.

I was thinkin' you'd like to go out by the water with me?  We can roll around in the sand.  He lifted his rear into the air and shook it, growling as he pounced at Kiwi's tail.

"Oh yeah?"  She giggled, trying to roll away but only half-succeeding.  "Okaaay.  But....". She situated, pushing herself up before continuing. "Race ya there!"

Before she could even check if he was coming, she was off! Hopefully he did catch her because, while she knew the general direction of the beach, she didn't know exactly where he wanted to go.  Who cares?  This was fun!

Okay, um, RUDE!  Head-starts aren't fair, Kiwi!  He bolts after her, but he is thick and not as suited to fast travel as his sister.  He does try his best, and his competitive nature rears its ugly head as he shouts out, Hey!

Whether it is luck or Kiwi deciding to slow down, he does catch up to her.  He leads them straight to the water and bows again in the sand.  That's not fair, Kiwi! he says, slapping his broad paw across the sand to shower her with it.  But look, it's pretty down here.

She sprinted, trying to keep ahead, but her brother managed to close the gap.  Kiwi had a fiercely competitive streak too, and the resulting race became a flat out run for the shore.

She did laugh as they slowed down, though, a breathless giggle.  "Seems fair to me!" Of course he was gonna complain, he was just mad he didn't think to start first!

She looked around when Tux said it was pretty.  "Yeah, I guess." . She didn't stop much to admire the scenery (aside from her little escapade with Bat) so couldn't really tell if it was particularly pretty or not.  "Probably not a lotta food though.". She hadn't really been shown the prey the ocean could give, and the lack of trees made her feel a little exposed.

Well, it's not he asserts, though it's clear at this point he's doing it mostly just to tease her and not really because he believes he's been cheated.  His breaths come in big heaves, and it takes a minute for him to gather himself.  Phew.

Right as she mentioned food, his stomach started to growl.  Uh-oh.  His eyes scaled the water, and he realized that she might be right.  There didn't seem to be a lot of food out here.  (It's not like there were caches or anything, oh no, there being no food right here was the end of the world).  I dunno... you wanna try to find some?  Or..  Well, he really didn't know what else.
Um.  Kiwi was at a momentary, rare moment of indecision.  She didn't have a leg up here; she had no clue where food would be on the stretch of beach at all.  Normally she would love to learn, but since it was just Tux and her, she'd have liked better to be able to show him.  Oh well.

Yeah!  The answer when it came was at least exuberant, and she bounded a couple of steps forward before stopping.  Let's check the water! Swimming was better than digging, and there were really two options here.
I've lost a reply for this like, three times.  (:  Are you open for a few quickie posts to wrap this up?  Hopin' to use this for trade stuff.  If not, you can just tack on an ending and archive?  Sorry to hold this up for actually two months.

He hadn't yet really interacted with the water much.  At least, not compared to his sisters.  He probably wasn't as strong of a swimmer as either of them, and he kind of really didn't want to be shown up by anyone, let alone someone like Kiwi (which was only because she was his sister).  Still, he heads towards the water after her and wades a few steps in.  It's cold, and he doesn't immediately see anything.  He squints at Kiwi and then back at the water, this time further out.

There's something moving, but he can't tell what it is.  D'you see that?
im good with a few!

edit: I'm going to edit a close on this <3 so you don't have to worry about it! But if we do want to continue lemme know and we can reopen

She looked while Tux joined her, and tried to find a sign of anything.  The water wasn't bad, and while Kiwi was no Bat, she enjoyed it.  Wasn't very easy to see anything in though.

Tux managed to do it, though.  Well, so he said.  Kiwi wasn't convinced, but she skeptically looked where he was.  I don't... wait, nope, something was there!

What d'you think it is!? She asked, all of her former hesitancy immediately gone in her excitement.  Imagine if it was big and they caught it!  She took another few strides out, so that the water lapped at her belly, and tried to note where it was going.

Whatever it was, it didn't seem too keen on that.  With a surge it moved closer, and Kiwi scrambled back, the pit of her stomach dropping as she charged for shore, Tux by her.

She looked at him with wide eyes, then out.  Apparently there were things out there to look out for as well.  Maybe there's birds in the cliffs? She proposed instead, and made to lead him there, away from whatever lurked out in the deeper water.
