When he arrives at Blackfeather Woods he's out of breath and his body is screaming at him, because he's flown from one forest to another without thinking, and his sudden arrival causes an uproar in the treetops. The native birds are concerned. He doesn't have time to watch them and seeks out @Maegi, and after a strained few minutes of messy communication she gets the basics; he can't tell how she feels about any of it but there isn't time. Mou trusts that the medicine will keep the girl asleep until he returns — and he realizes another issue. He can't possibly carry her back to the woods alone, and nor can Maegi with her limp. They needed someone strong.

So with a few quick, huffed words to Maegi, Mou goes racing about, trying to hunt down their newest addition. @Kalganov isn't hard to find but it takes some doing to convince him of the importance of the situation. Before long the trio are off again, with Mou in the lead and agitated crows following through the air; the birds think that maybe there is something foul afoot and they think maybe the wolves have found something to offer them. Once the three ghosts embark, the murder slowly loses focus until it is only the wolves on the hunt.

Mou's chest feels like its fit to bursting and his legs are shuddering beneath him by the time they cross in to the Bramblewood again; he tries to bee-line for the place he left the fiery girl but he's easily lost among the brambles, too tired to make heads or tails of the paths. But eventually they do find her, and Mou takes a deep breath, and looks to his companions. He watches Maegi's face for a moment, and then is distracted by an urge to investigate the sleeping girl.

The sky is full of bewildered birds.

Ceara's body has begun to convulse in the time it takes for Mou to leave and when he arrives with his party of three, she is so still and her breath is so shallow that it appears to an untrained eye that she has perished in her slumber.

But while she is still breathing, it is true that only her body remains.  Her mind is elsewhere, carried off by the herbs that not-Screech has given her.  The golden woods have bled of their warmth and turned black, the light leeched out soon after Tuathal's departure.  The ground beneath her is cold, and sticky, too — when she looks down she meets her reflection in an expansive pool of blood.

She reels backwards, picking up her paws as if holding them up makes things better, and then she screams, running blind into the dark.  The forest stretches on and on and on, and then it goes black.

One by one, stars begin to wink into view overhead.  Breathless she slows to a halt and collapses on the ground.  A shadow moves next to her, warming her side.  It is @Behemoth.  He looks at home here, surrounded by the everblack trees, illuminated only by the moonlight.  Striking, and handsome, too.  There's a hunger in his piercing golden eyes.

She leans against him, taking comfort in his presence.  He is a dark thing, and he will protect her from whatever is happening on the outside.  Pressing her head against his shoulder, she looses a whine.  Mmm, want you, he says in @Raven's voice; her eyes snap open as Behemoth's throat begins to crack, his chest splitting open to reveal a wide stretch of white.

The stars overhead twinkle infinitely, and she cannot place whose forelimb swings over her waist.

"You WHAT?!"

Maegi could have not been more astonished by what Mou had told her, breathless and scared. She was scared, too--and angry. The girl's childhood had been cut brutally short by a war, an invasion of Blackfeather by their enemies, and now there was reason to believe that they had just incurred the wrath of another pack. The woods would be stormed, and blood would spill.

Who would die this time? Kove? Moonshadow? Gods, no, they'd go for Mou, or her or Kalganov. Their scents would be all over the woman's pelt.

Death, and they were to blame.

She was furiously silent the duration of the journey, gaze fixed grim and straight ahead. When they finally reached the other forest and approached the convulsing wolf, Maegi sensed Mou's look at her, but did not return the glance, frowning as she stared down the ruddy--

God, it was Reed! No.... no. She tried to calm her pulse, heart lodged in her throat for a terrifying moment. No, it wasn't Reed, but it sure could have been. Young and pretty, with fiery fur. Maegi stepped back, finally looking over at her friend.

Her best friend. He'd fucked up. All their lives were in jeopardy, now, and their home, too.

"What are you going to do about this?" she asked, her voice midwinter cold.

He can't wake her, which might be good or might be bad. He looms by her face and places his snout very close to her lips, and holds his own breath — but he doesn't feel any airflow from her, and begins to panic. As he draws back he watches her chest for movement and when he finds it, slow and limited as it was, he felt a little better and released a held breath of his own. But then Maegi is glaring at him, and Mou can't meet her eyes. He knows this is all a mistake but he wanted to help her, and — well, whatever his motives this was happening now.

What are you going to do about this?
Maegi doesn't sound right but Mou doesn't have time to worry about that. He's thinking as quickly as he can but there's only one thing they can do.

Take, he murmurs without looking away from the slumbering Fire. Its dangerous for them to be out here with her, dangerous to have her discover the woods too, but better overall if they keep her with them. Mou hopes he doesn't have to beg but he still can't meet Maegi's eyes — he sets about finding some way to gather the girl up. He paces around her, probing at her with his nose, and stops by her rear end with a look of defeat upon his face.

He finally looks to Maegi and opens his mouth, wanting to apologize, but there is not time for that right now. Lehs goh.
He didn’t fuss much once Mou had explained things to him and opted for silently following along. Dirty work was something he was capable of so his presence being need was almost exciting. Except you wouldn’t be able to tell in his lifeless green eyes.

When they arrive, he simply stares at the fiery form. She is a blazing wildfire in looks compared to the ghosts who linger near her. Kalganov didn’t bother listening to the chatter of Maegi and Mou. Something told him that he might have been needed to be more worried about the sudden coldness of Maegi but he thought little of it. As it wasn’t every day you were brought to help drag a body.

His ear flicks softly at Mou’s tattered voice. Kalganov moves closer to the body with ease — perhaps even confidence — before looking back at his fellow ghosts. They both had their weaknesses but hopefully it wouldn’t be too hard with three. I’ll grab the front in case they wake up, let’s me take the brute force of upset teeth. He spoke as he glanced between them, waiting to see if anyone would protest.
Her jaw firmed as she shook her head in emphatic refusal, eyes flashing like a burning, dying forest. "We can't take her back," Maegi retorted. "Take her back, and lead her family right to the woods? We'd be starting another war." Fear was now back in spades, softening, blurring the edges of her anger.

She saw Miraak, dying in front of her. His blood spilling out, the light in his gaze fading away. . .

"What exactly did you give her?" she asked Mou, looking shrewdly over the twitching, sleeping form. The situation reminded her eerily of Lainie's demise, and she tried not to think about yet another wolf expiring under her watch. No. . .no! The woman needed yarrow, and soon. Without waiting for her friend's response, she stalked off into the woods, looking for herbs.

Maegi voices her opposition and he wishes he could adhere to it, but there isn't time to debate any of this. Mou recalls finding the pale wolf at the caldera and through the pounding panic of his heartbeats, remembers he hasn't told anyone about that yet. He wants her to trust him but when he looks for Maegi and starts to explain, she's already stalking off. Her chilling behavior is new to him. Mou isn't sure how to handle it but he's too stressed out by the prospect of a dead girl in the forest, or a living friend he doesn't remember, or the possible fallout of their actions in the next few minutes, so he doesn't question her outright.

If she won't help him, Kalganov appears ready and willing. Mou watches him move in to position just as Maegi asks after the girl, and so he sighs a quick response — Purple flowa, but is hastening to lift Fire's body with the aid of the strong man. If Maegi won't help them with the heavy lifting then maybe she should just leave — but he can't say that, there is no point in arguing once they are underway.
He raised a brow at Maegi's reasoning. Damage has already been done. If we don't take her back and make sure to contain her, then what? Either she runs back to them with horror stories or we kill her. Personally, keeping her for the time being sounds a lot better. Kalganov wondered if she would retort more than. He appreciated the female's brains and wits but he did not need them now. Mou had started this situation and it was clear what he wanted to do. The least they could do was help him.

He firmly grasped the fiery female's scruff and made sure not to too horribly puncture anything that had not been ripped already. The last thing he wanted to do was leave a fresh blood trail or mess up his own ivory fur. If Mou was ready, then Kalganov would gladly start leading them back.
She didn't hear Kalganov's arguments, already walking away, but she didn't need to hear them to know that she was outnumbered. When she returned, they were already hoisting her upright. Maegi, thoroughly vexed, dropped the little bundle of yarrow she had collected and let out an exasperated snort. "You--you can't--"

She shook her head, as if bothered by gnats. "Forget it. It's done. Just--" She paused, the wheels of her mind working overtime. "We'll take her down into the tunnels below the woods. I'll lead you there. There's this cave. . ." Maegi shivered, just thinking about it, but it would have to do. It was deep and dark, and while it would be a terror upon waking for the ruddy girl, it would keep her concealed both from the rest of Blackfeather and from the search party that would arrive.

They would come for her. It was only a matter of time.

"Let's go," Maegi said grimly, moving up alongside to help in whatever way she could.

They can't waste any time. Once Kalganov has a good hold, they begin to move out - but Mou pauses, listening to Maegi explain about the cave but mostly he's thinking quickly about other counter-measures; they don't have time to do much, and so he lets those thoughts die. If they're found out then they'll deal with it but the thought of confronting a group of angry strangers, this girl's family, is almost too much to bear. He takes his position behind the patient and without a word, begins to hurry the trio along. Maegi would lead them somewhere safe and secret to keep her, and then they could figure the rest out.
