Don't mind the title, watched Cats Don't Dance last night and it's been stuck in my head ever since ehehe

Patches of sunlight came and went as Danica made her way through the trees of the forest. Life in Swiftcurrent had been a bit slow currently so she had decided to take the opportunity to branch out, exploring more of this place she had decided to call home. Currently she was tempting fate, wandering much closer to Silvertip borders than was wise. She was aware of Jinx's attitude towards intruders but hardly cared right now.

She didn't care to upset Fox, but she was feeling rather restless. It was reaching the point where Swiftcurrent was her longest home since her birth pack. She wasn't used to staying in one place for so long and was questioning where her path was leading. She was enjoying her time there and intended to remain, but still something was off. It was always the same. Sometimes Danica wondered if perhaps it was because her future was so different from those of other wolves. Normally the goals were find a pack, find a mate, make a family. The first two she could agree with. The third, however, was never going to happen for her. The second even was highly unlikely.

Suddenly she chuckled. Well now, this was a fine sulk she was having, wasn't it? She didn't need anyone else dictating her happiness. She had herself, that was enough.
I haven't watched that movie in forever....I need to see if it's on Netflix. DX

Her tattoo had faded quite a bit now. She needed to renew it and thus set out on an exploration of this "Great Bear Wilderness" to find the proper ingredients needed. Leaves from a green alder tree, a summer grape bush, a black locust tree....

So far she only found an alder tree, nearby the mountain. There were plenty of mordants there to enhance the color, but she needed more. The priestess could not find any evidence of grape bushes or locust trees in the territory, so she had to leave in order to find them.

The black-furred priestess flitted from tree to tree in her normal, graceful gait. Her indigo eyes remained ever alert and her ears swiveled as she searched for a sound....then there it was. The sound of undergrowth being broken. Meldresi didn't approach the sound, only letting it cross her path to let her see who or what the creature was.

A she-wolf, cream-furred with shots of gold and brown and from the smell....not of her pack. But they were far from Silvertip borders, or anyone else's for that matter. They could speak on neutral terms here. She woofed softly to greet her, not caring if she had time for conversation.
It is too great!! <3 the music is fantastic!

Somehow Danica had passed by the other wolf completely unawares, not detecting her until a soft woof alerted her to her presence. Startled, she turned, staring at the strange wolf. She was gorgeous.

"Hello, beautiful," she said, not a trace of irony or sarcasm in her voice. Danica wasn't one to hide what she was thinking. She always spoke truth. She caught her scent: Silvertip. There was no sign of aggression, however, so apparently she was judged as being far enough away to not incite the wrath of the mountain wolves.

"What brings you down from your mountain, love? Didn't think Silvertip wolves fraternized with outsiders." Her tone was more curious than disrespectful, though still blunt. From what she knew of Jinx's pack, they were extremely territorial and mistrustful. Even moreso than Fox, and from what Danica gathered so far with living in the Creek, that was saying something.
It's not on Netflix. I must find another place to watch it. Any ideas?

The female turned stared at her in surprise. A little smile turned the corners of her lips upwards. Beautiful? It was rare that she heard those words from a female. Or maybe she didn't go that way and was just being honest. It may be the latter, this one looked easy to read.

And of course came the questioning on her aggression. Meldresi was not a naturally aggressive wolf by any means, even if she belonged to a pack that lived on the ideal like Silvertip. "I don't know much of it either. I am new to the pack. I assume that Silvertip has a bad reputation with others?"
I know it's on youtube! If you don't mind watching in parts =] I think I got it in a $5 bin at Walmart ehe

"Oh my, you really don't do you? Let's just say Jinx isn't known for her winning personality." Danica had heard tell. Her own pack was on ok terms with Silvertip, though, so she supposed they couldn't be that bad. "Then again, stories do get the better for the telling, don't they?" She shrugged. "I guess you will find out the truth of them soon enough."

She appraised the other female then, noting the faded tattoo with some interest. "Doesn't answer my question, though," she added lightly. She wasn't getting off that easily.
I'm back. :) I'll probably do that, I really don't mind. Unless I could find it at the discount bin.

"The truth"? What, was Jinx hiding something from her pack? Or was she just warning her on the malignant personality of her alpha. "I intend to stay loyal to my pack unless it disbands. I am pretty sure I can deal with Jinx." There were worse wolves she had met, far more aggressive than Jinx was towards her. Alphas who were insanely suspicious of their packmates, so far as attacking them for misunderstandings.

But the priestess didn't like this girl's pressing. Why must she know why she was travelling outside of her own territory? "I am collecting herbs not found in my territory if you don't mind..."
"Oh, don't get me wrong! She sounds like a ton of fun." Danica figured any wolf with the reputation Jinx had for not brooking with nonsense was alright by her. She liked a wolf who wasn't afraid of conflict.

She chuckled a bit when Meldresi got a bit of a tone. So she did have some teeth. "Not like it's an unusual question. I'm honestly surprised you haven't asked me yet." Danica cocked an eyebrow at her. "Lone wolf from another pack wandering around near your own pack's claimed turf? Gotta be a little curious." She thought Meldresi's task sounded awfully boring. Danica had never been the naturalist type. She enjoyed fights and hunts and the thrill of the chase. Wasn't like herbs ran away or put up much of a fight. She did suppose 'wandering from boredom' wasn't a very exciting pastime either though. Seemed they were both up for dull days.
"Yes, you are rather close to my pack's territory. But from what I have seen you are not here looking for anything." If this female intended on stealing from them wouldn't she be more stealthy? And if she was searching for something she would be nose to the ground, swinging her head left to right. "And since you know so much of my pack, then you would know that we do not tolerate outsiders one bit, and we'll chase off or attack any who get too close. There is no reason for me to worry about you."
"Touche," Danica responded, not in any way bothered by being read in such a way. It was accurate, she wasn't here to cause any trouble. She appreciated that this female didn't mince her words. "Though I'm a little hurt that you wouldn't be worried at all. Maybe a little?" She bared her teeth in a jest, then snorted. "Honestly I wouldn't bother with it. If I wanted that kind of action I'd not have come this far west." She'd have stayed in the Sunspire.

"If your so sure of yourself, why do you think I am here?" She asked, eyes gleaming playfully. This wolf had all the answers, didn't she?
"I'd say," she eyed the female critically, playing along with her playful mood. "That you are here to think, to get away from something?" She wouldn't be hunting here, that would be too risky, especially if the prey would run into Silvertip territory. And what other business would she have over here? "Am I correct?"
"Close! Escaping boredom. Pack life is great, but it does take some of the thrill out of surviving." she replied honestly. She wouldn't trade it though and was in for the long haul. She was too social to enjoy being a loner, and she enjoyed messing around with her packages. She had found, to her surprise, that most of them responded well to her.

"Sometimes it's nice to wander alone again. Your lovely presence non withstanding of course. " She looked at Meldresi. "Herbs, huh? I wouldn't have pegged you for a healer, no offense. A noble trade, but I could never. Looks boring as hell. Again, no offense."

Meldresi chuckled a little. It wasn't the first time someone said that herb-collecting was boring. She had thought that when she first started, but it became almost relaxing as the years went by. "It's quite relaxing, actually. I can see why you would think so, though."

Her eyes fixed on the female. "Are you a hunter or warrior for your pack? They're the ones who often call herb-picking, boring."

Danica nodded in agreement at Meldresi's response. She too could see that side of the argument. If she was a wolf who enjoyed relaxation she was sure she would love it as much as the next. Sure, she liked to take it slow every so often, but life was so much more interesting fast.

She laughed outright at the other woman's next statement, however. Oh wow did she ever have Danica pegged! "Good call. Guess I'm not so subtle. Warrior, or at least I have the desire to be one. Still have to prove myself up to the task." She had been working her tail off to do so as well, taking on any tasks that were thrown her way. It wasn't her fault they were on such good terms with everyone save the Sunspire. There were only so many options available to her. "I'm guessing you have known many warriors and hunters to draw such conclusions?"

"Yes," she responded, sitting back on her haunches. "Though they were mostly males." Males of most professions said that to her. It was just their natures, for the most part. It was rare that she met a male who was interested in her work. They were more interested in her body.

A thought flashed in her mind. She hadn't introduced herself, nor had the outsider. "What pack are you from?"

So short but I need to respond before I go to bed, so sorry it took so long!

"Hm. Doesn't surprise me, they do love their aggression. Though I can't say I'm much better." She shrugged. "Can't fight the way nature made you." She had more in common with those males than even she knew... while she wasn't only interested in Meldresi's body, it was definitely a point of interest in her mind right now. She was never one to push, however.

"Swiftcurrent" came her response to the question posed. "Name's Danica. And you?"
OH SNAP I'M SO SORRY. D:

She chuckled. Men were naturally aggressive, and so were some women. Most people just were. It was, indeed, nature. "Meldresi." She said, returning her name. It was strange how conversations could begin and unfold and you wouldn't even know the person's name until its ending.

The priestess hadn't heard of Swiftcurrent before. But she assumed that they were from up north. But she asked the golden wolf just to be certain. "Where is Swiftcurrent?"

totally fine!! Figure we can close this up now ;) since we have lots of posts and it's been a while! you can either post again or just archive it <3

"To the Northeast of here, I believe." She doublechecked the sun's position to be sure. "I arrived here by following the creek through the mountains, then rounding the lake. It's quite a trek, but that's half the fun." Danica would never make a good Outrider, not having the charm for such activities, but she loved to explore regardless. Perhaps naturalist was in her future, solely for that aspect.

She already knew the woman's pack, having been told it earlier in the conversation, so had no need to ask. "Speaking of, it's getting late," she said, glancing at the sun again. "I should probably head back if I want to make it by morning." She'd be running through the night, but that was alright by her. "It was a pleasure, though, Meldresi," she said, and really, it hadn't been too bad. The woman was hardly forthcoming when speaking but had remained civil enough even when Danica heckled her.
