Speedy thought this place was probably really nice in the spring and summer but right now, it was covered in a thick blanket of snow like pretty much everywhere else around here. She had gotten used to it mostly out of necessity, but she still longed for the summer when she could take walks under the moon without freezing her ass off.

Tonight had been like pretty much every other night since her run in with the blackfeather wolf. She had been woken from her sleep by one of her rotating nightmares and had turned to exploring rather than lying awake in her den and letting her mind wander to things she'd rather not think about. She normally stayed within the safety of the moonspear borders, but as more time passed since the incident the more the she felt comfortable indulging her adventurous nature. So, bored with the same scenery she had been studying every night, she ventured past the borders and down into the snow-covered field. Flurries drifted down from the sky as she moved, catching in her fur before melting away, and occasionally she stopped to shake the dampness from her coat. She would say she felt relaxed here, but she couldn't quite forget her worries regarding Revui; he had disappeared from the mountain days ago and so far, no one had been able to find him. She worried his wounds weren't being cared for properly but hoped that maybe he stumbled onto some kind soul that would help him out if he needed it. If he didn't return soon, then she would start looking for him herself, snow or not.

A soft sigh escaped her lips as she continued her late night walk through the snowy field, and she wondered if her protector had found some kind of shelter from the cold wherever he was.
he doesn't often travel so far inland, mostly content to wander the coast when his restless bones beckon him past the bay's borders; it's different now. there is a soft, familiar croon under the howling wind, coaxing him from the coast with whispered promises of purpose. the song has returned. he follows its silken threads with little hesitation, drifting along his designated path in a haze. there is no thought, no sense of time or space. the song wraps its soft tendrils thickly around him, pulling, pulling, pulling
he blinks, and suddenly midnight has cloaked the world and the air is cold and dry and it is so, so quiet. alone; the finality of it drops around him like stones, and his stomach tightens. there is no song, there is no promise or purpose. he has come here for nothing, and now he is cold and tired and so very alone. or... maybe not so alone. his frantic searching of the empty winter-kissed field reveals a figure in the distance, still some way off, and his heart jumps. he wants nothing more than kind company right now, utterly shaken by his loss of time and perhaps reality, so he sets off toward the figure with his tail swishing. all he can do is hope the stranger is the kind sort.
She spotted the friendly form coming towards her, and she halted her steps. She thought she would be nervous meeting strangers after the blackfeather incident, but his body language held no aggression, and the empath found herself reverting to her friendly ways as she began to move again, stopping when she was close enough to speak. Hello, she greeted amiably, a kind smile crossing her face as she spoke. She sniffed the air a little and noticed he smelled of others, but it was not a pack scent she was familiar with. That was odd; she knew the scents of most of the packs in the area, so she wondered where he might be from. First things first, though--she would wait for his return greeting before bombarding him with her curiosity.

Suddenly, she was hit with a wave of wariness, memories of the blackfeather incident swarming her mind then and freezing her momentarily in place. When she was able to move again, she stared at the stranger, her blood rushing in her ears. Then she took off, taken over by a rare moment of fear. She wouldn't stop running until she safely crossed the Moonspear borders.
