A plentiful crowd had gathered to celebrate in the evening's dying sunlight with dance and songs of many blessings filling the time as he joined in the lighthearted festivities. All the while faces of new and old surrounded him as he left his heart to the joyful events, though one face in particular stood out from the rest. He'd thought it during their first encounter but truly she was a burning star admits an endless void, for her soul cried loud enough that even he, a mere spec among the crepuscular sea, could hear it's regal cry in the form of hushed whispers.

So after a moment of distant admiration, the paragon tore himself from the rabble and set to close the distance between himself and the pale siren, just before a rosy splash of color caught his attention from the corner of his eye. He briefly pulled away from his route to pluck the carnation from the frozen earth before continuing on has he had before, tail swaying blissfully at his hocks while doing so. And once he had neared his alabaster companion, Sanguinus let out a friendly chuff to gain her attention before aiming to place the flower atop her fair crown, gently tucking it against her ear so that it would remain there for the rest of the night's activities.
After the initial greetings, Aure had wreathed her listless way through the merry-making; never one to dance if she could tolerate it, much less mingle. Tonight, however, her masque of the Lady had yet to be ridden of her person, so she partook in all of that which she'd kept so hidden to herself. Throughout her various endeavors, a smudge of sable-scarlet was quick to ensnare her attention — one who'd yet to find a master.

Eyes grew wondering as he strayed from his course, and then they grew wide at the pinked carnation, plucked and blooming and all. She had no time to let her mind wander on the rosy phenomenon, though, because Sanguinis had stept to her in the next moment; and had strewn, situated, and tucked the carnation at her ear within the next heartbeat.

Aure swiveled her muzzle to one side, to the next, before surging forward to embrace him with nothing short of amiable warmth. What else could she do, when he'd been a savior, after all? "It's wonderful to see you," she preened, ivory throat wounding about his red shoulders, tail crescenting with glee. Then she withdrew, peering into his face kindly. "I wouldn't expect a champion to attend a festival."
He returned her affectionate greeting tenfold and quickly moved with streamlined grace to nose gently through the nape of her neck. He had noticed it upon their brief encounter during the commencement of the festival but as he stood here so close to her now he was almost sure of it - her scent had changed. "You as well" he let out as she withdrew, the corner of his velvety lips tugging upwards into an unfeigned smile. He was not sure if he'd ever be blessed with the chance of meeting his tenderhearted friend once more, but he was grateful they had crossed paths once again.

"I had never been to such a magnificent event before and I guess my curiosity had bettered me" he admitted with a shrug of his shoulders, tail giving a swish behind him as his gaze came to rest on the well sculptured features of her feminine face. "I supposed it's more fitting for you to attend such a joyous celebration since you are with child, no?" he asked as his head tilted ever so slightly to the side. He assumed with all things considered, that pregnancy was the reasoning behind her attendance and the slight difference of her scent, along with her subtly protruding sides that he had come to notice just moments ago.
"Me neither; I've not the chance to go to a festival in quite some time," she mused, attention withdrawing into her memories for a moment. Rather, the last celebration she'd ever attended had only been... right before her departure from the far north; something a bit removed made itself known in her heart, but thankfully Sanguinis resumed speaking, and that was what helped her from drifting into the depths of the labyrinth of her mind.

Or, maybe she should've let herself make that departure, because she returned to attention with ears stinging with blood and a tongue that stuttered a bit uselessly. But the happiness that came forth in her argent eyes set them to an undeniable gleam, "With childs, y-yes." Aure let out a breathless little laugh, ears swiveling apologetic upon her white crown for her missed heartbeats to reply.

"They should be here within the beginning of spring, I should hope," and though that nagging doubt still bit at her, supplied, "I hope they will bring my clan light; ze winter hasn't implored us with much kindness." Never once had she thought the joy of Drageda rested solely by her womb — that couldn't have been further from the truth! Of course, with her beloved and the rest of the kru helping raise the bairns, her faith was unwavering in that it would bring some kind of elation to most upon the cliffs.
His heart lit afire when she announced the confirmation of her future children, for new life, at least from where he hailed, was worthy of great celebration and he felt himself overjoyed that she'd been blessed to carry. "Congratulations!" he beamed as his entire body flooded with delight for her. She would make a good mother, he was sure of it...so long as she kept herself out of troublesome situations like the time they'd met each other.

His gaze momentarily swept across the carnation as her ears swiveled atop her crown, the peddles fluttering softly in the evening breeze. "Winter rarely shows us such sympathy" for it's harsh weather result in more deaths than he'd like to admit but, that was the way of their world and with every end of a story a new one begun. "But it has blessed you wish children and surely that is worth merriment?"
She dipped her head in modest thanks, a little sheepish at how much another exulted at her revelation of new life — it wasn’t unwelcome, though. The responses of the kru had threaded from lukewarm, to almost-joyous, downright concerned, and even, well, disdained. Of course, the assumption was only on what she’d heard, as she wasn’t one to have sought out everyone on the cliffs to bear the news of, well, bearing.

”Yes, yes — ze ways things are upon ze cliffs are a concern, but... happiness is still there. It must be... because there is syrup to be had,” her voice was resolute, despite her little lame jest at the shared memory of theirs. Perhaps a little wan, so unused to night-worn celebration. But her smile returned, if only a little fainter, I am... happy. Happy, in ze way I never thought I would be for so long.”

Aure let her gaze list once again, remembering Eastwood’s words from so long ago, ”I know that one shouldn’t become too comfortable, within this world, this life. I should know better. All ze same, I... is comfort too much to ask for?” She stepped nearer to Sanguinis, brushing a tendered flank along his own as she beckoned him to promenade with her. ”You told me you were — are — a champion. Have you fought ze moment you were able to learn?”
He was not a man well known to take in troubles and dish out advice, for he was far more the listening type, stoic and steady as she revealed her worries and happiness alike, each breath of his dedicated to her alone as the words spilled from her mouth. At the end of it all he remained silent, mind washing over what had been shared with him as the final question rolled off her tongue and caught him by surprise.

"The early part of my childhood was reserved for the less physically demanding lessons" he began as his pace fell to match her own during their stroll. "It was only when I was well into my adolescence did I begin to learn offensive and defensive sparring techniques." From there he'd only grown to experience the taste of battle and blood and all the haunting memories that came with them, many of which still tormented him to this day.

Her star-numbed mind eases itself to Now, drew away from the evening heights to listen what Sanguinis had to say. Adolescence?— That must have been well past six months, then. But she could always be wrong, ”How riveting! I have been wondering when my children should begin their own lessons... Sparring, though. Becoming, ah, more skillful; is it a repetitive sort of practice? As in, ahm... muscle memory, I suppose?”

Then, as if realizing the carnation that still nodded at her brow, she tipped her head at it, and then considered the show of seeds by Olive from before. ”Mm, I wonder how such flora is able thrive in such cold. Perhaps... a phenomena?” More of a wondering to herself than anything, although her eyes listed Sange’s way regardless.

”Usually, you do not see such colors in ze winter. But, er, compared to my Rhaesuial, ze snows of Teekon could be thought of as warm.” And perhaps it sounded like a reach, but it was more than likely true, at least for Aure herself. She’d had yet to shiver all over from the winter her. ”It feels as if it has been a century since I’ve spelt— felt spring, truth be told...”
