I can't help myself today, it seems! For @Leaf only, if you want it... I feel like these ladies should bond a bit. :)

It seemed that Magpie and Leaf took turns dozing in their little clearing, only overlapping in wakefulness or sleepiness on rare occasions. Night was falling, and by the juvenile's best judgment they had been here together for about a week. As far as she could tell, neither of them had eaten much in that time, and hunger was a constant presence in her small belly. It kept her awake tonight, and the juvenile was running out of ways to distract herself. For a moment she would pace, then lay down, then stand back up, then sprint to one side of the clearing until a guard gave her a look, then back to pacing...

She couldn't keep track of who was watching over them; sometimes they would remain nearby, but often they were patrolling just out of the clearing to afford the pair some kind of privacy. It was when the current guard went to relieve himself that Magpie crept close to her companion. Watching the rise and fall of Leaf's sides for a moment, the juvenile eventually prodded her shoulder with a paw, green eyes now upon her companion's face.

When the sleeping wolf refused to rouse — perhaps only a soft grumble of disapproval emerged from her slumber — Magpie sulked away, batting around the pine cone Summer had bestowed upon her to pass the time and ignore the pains of her hunger strike.
