Jace stood his front left limb shaking as he tried to put weight on it. The past few days had been hard on his body. He was a yearling but he felt like he was 9 years old. How could this be? He limped towards the oasis, the green ferns that lined the edge brought him comfort as he hit the ground near the waters edge. He lapped at the cool waters watching as bull frogs jumped around in it and mosquitos skimmed the very top. The water skippers flipped and floated on top of the water. He shook his head as gnats landed on his ears.

He lay under the trees their overhanging limbs offering him abundant shade as he lay there. Occasionally he woudl see a small woodland creature hop or run acorss the grassy land further into the woods that bordered the oasis.

Who would have known that the mountain would be so sell sufficient with bordering woodland forest and abundant water and prey supply it was amazing and he loved the fact that it was.
typo demon!!!!

Ferdie Von Pelt stood atop a rock that over hung the water by three feet or so, it rested securely on a rock that came up of the lake's floor bed. The two rocks resting upon each other made a sort of 'T like' shape. Ferdie's new favorite spot to sun himself. His tail was high over his back swaying a little bit, so very proud with himself and Jace for deciding to come here and carve out an existence not just for them but for others too.

Jace had not noticed Ferdie, but then he did when he moved his head slightly. He struggled ot push himself up from his prone position, usually he had to take time to do so, but he tried to do it too quickly and it hurt.

He stood panting slightly from his exertion and he limped towards the rock, but didn't climb up, he didn't think he could. He chuffed gently at his leader and friend. hello Ferdie. He tilted his head and sat down to his haunches favoring his left leg, he had found that if he kept off it, got lots of rest and elevated it when he could it felt much better and even started to heal, but it was slow going.

Ferdie turned around and stared at Jace, surprised he had not heard Jace come up so lost in thought he had been. Ferdie frowned, he hated seeing Jace in pain, This thing with Swiftcurrent creek had been so unnecessary. Ferdie glanced over his shoulder toward the pristine oval shaped lake the ducks and swan that lived in the grassy shores depended on the bugs other little wildlife that thrived there.

He then walked the gentle slope of his 'pride rock' and jumped to the ground. Jace... Ferdie began as he drew up to his friend and brother. Laying next to him Ferdie frowned his heart was heavy he could barely explain this to him his eyes stung with pain for Jace, A new feeling for Ferdie. He had never felt this much care and emotion for another wolf, let alone a male, not that he was in love with Jace but Jace was very very dear to his heart, Jace's pain was his pain.
I traded Leaf and Magpie for a peace treaty, The swiftcurrent wolves are never going to come here again and the sunspire wolves can 'never' go there. 'We' are not allowed to go near each other territories again. Not even you. Ferdie's voice was not commanding, it held remorse more then anything else.

Jace stared at Ferdie for a minute and then spoke Even the neutral territories? Because that is where I usually met Leaf. I swear to you Ferdie I never went near the creek boundaries stayed near the lake at the bottom of our packlands or in the forest or even here in the mountain range that surrounds us. He was not upset or angry yet, hoping to clarify if it meant neutral territory too. If it was so then Jace would probably laugh at the irony and poor shit of his situation. Why couldn't Leaf just have stayed here and never to see Bazi again, that hurt more than he cared to admit.

He knew that Ferdie had done his best with the situation at hand and he had not exactly helped with the matter, with him going all half cocked, speaking of which. listen Ferdie I did not go to the borders intent to fight I was merely talking to Bazi when this other wolf showed up and he called me out said i was speaking sharply when i was just being straight forward as is my nature and I called him on it told him i didn't care what he had to say i was there to talk to Bazi not him and a few not so nice things i suppose cause i was angry and worried about Leaf, but i swear i didn't make the first physical move. I want you to know that.

Jace... Ferdie sighed, Forget it, it happened, you are a wolf of your own actions, I could not put a leash on you if I tried, Ferdie Smirked and nudges Jace's neck fondly And I know that you would not 'try' do anything that would endanger our pack, That is why you are beta. If you are to see Leaf again you must do so without getting near the creek. Bazi will likely tolerate you better then most but don't push it Ferdie frowned at Jace, but in his own way he was giving Jace permission to do what ever the hell Jace wanted,

Oh and Fang our only other male pack member so far, he is a hybrid remember that when you are talking to him, he requires more tact then other wolves, but he's proven to be useful. In saying this Ferdie was saying without saying it aloud, He's a dog but a loyal dog treat him well and he'll come home.

Ferdie reached over and began to groom Jace's shoulder Grooming Jace's pelt and pulling scabs and testing for infection. Have these been treated? and what of your limp is it getting better? Ferdie asked as he continued to pull loose fur and dander from Jace's pelt with practiced speed and precision.

Jace chuckled and shook his head I'm not sure if she will I am fairly certain that male is her mate or wants to be, and he hates my guts. Jace shrugged then and then whimpered when he pulled the shoulder that was pained.

Jace shook his head i haven't spoken to him yet, if I don't speak to him within the week i'll look for him and get to know him. he's the one that doesn't like to show much respect correct? Jace was fairly certain it was so What do you think of the youth Summer? He was all alone and I couldn't leave him I hope it's okay that he was a youth.

Jace laughed and spoke a bit sarcastic, yes dad and no dad they haven't been treated. he shot the older male a crooked boyish grin to let him know he was merely teasing. My sister will take care of me as will Nightingale. he frowned at the next question I don't know Ferdie if I'll ever walk correctly again. It's my fault I was trying not to hurt leaf when she came after me when fox was at our borders and in my haste not ot hurt her, i twisted it then i fought with Scimitar and I think I pulled the tendons or muscles in it. It's lessening as long as I rest and lay in the cold water. So I am hoping it will get better.

Ferdie Von Pelt gave a playful frown and sigh relinquishing his grooming You know I could never turn away a Pup, Jace, I appreciate the fact you took him in. I've come to find he's unpracticed in hunting but we should endeavor to make him our young gameskeeper, we need someone to step up when one or both of us lean toward our bullheaded nature. Ferdie chuckled.

You know I came to the realization when I was talking to Fang that you did more for me then I thought. I knew you saved me from myself but you also saved me from my past. The thought of the Queen of the lights, Queen Kosses, no longer is a weight to heavy for my soul to bare. I can only wish that in time I will be able to return the favor.

Ferdie glanced up at the sky noticing that the sun set happened right over the far end of the oasis so the whole oasis ran east to west but that put them in a place where the sun was blinding at this time in the evening and there at the far end, although how he missed it until now was a mystery, stood a mighty Willow tree offering protection and shade and low branches probably home to a few different species of birds that would find this oasis plentiful

Oh Jace there is Snow up at the top of the mountain, even now... if you want we could trek there together or the hot spring Ame and I found, that would ease your muscles too and likely a lot closer to get too that is for sure.

Jace chuckled along with Ferdie, I'm glad he's a good boy and I think he will do well with the correct direction. If i wasn't so laid up i'd endeavor to train him myself. Maybe i can watch from the side and holler advice when he's chasing a rabbit. he chuckled at the image that this pushed forth in his mind.

Jace smiled Ferdie you gave me a home even with my affliction so you don't owe me a thing. I would do it all over again friend I would do it all over again. he laid his head down to his legs, his ears perked forward he was paying attention listening as the night began to fall and the leaves and trees rusted with the bull frogs croaking in the evening air, as mist took place among the grounds. There were splashes as frogs and other creatures returned to and or came from the water.

Jace's gaze followed to the willow overlooking the water, beneath it's boughs there was a grassy hillock that fell into a gentle slop into the water and the branches hung down like long tendrils of hair and brushed the tips of the water with it's beauty, making a small little hideaway in the oasis.

Jace dipped his muzzle in thought the hot spring might be nice. Do you think I'll walk right again Ferdie? at that moment his youth reared its ugly head at the soft spoke silent question that he spoke in the throes of teenage angst and sadness wondering if he had ruined his future in one fell swoop.

Ferdie Von Pelt smiled and reached down to nuzzle Jace on the top of his head, sitting close by to watch the sun set over the oasis. I owe you my life in more ways then one, let us just endeavor to continue repaying each other, one day we may feel like we are even again. Ferdie chuckled and looked at Jace, he enjoyed spending time by Jace's side, why did they not do this more often?

I know you will Jace, your body is young yet, but we should get it tended to in the hot spring, though it'll be hard you you to climb down the rock path to get in there. I do not suggest jumping in from above Ferdie winced visibly, the memory of his belly flop was vivid. If it's tendon's in your wrist though those take a long time to heal almost a year I've been told.

tomorrow we will go there
Ferdie yawned and lay next to Jace offering Jace the warmth of his body. Laying his head down he closed his eyes ready to sleep without even checking himself over for dirt and debris. This 'war' had taken a tole from Ferdie as much as it did the rest of the pack.
