He had been investigating the undulating edge of the mountain range when something groaned inside the earth, the distant rumbling of some great beast sparked curiosity in the boy rather than fear; then there came a shudder to the world, as if something immense stirred in the hellish depths below. As the sensation came and went Revui refused to bow to it, awed though he was, and as it ceased he felt a bubbling adrenaline closer to euphoria. Something was happening - and the mountains were calling out, tremulous and wanting. All he could think to do was climb and hope that he would one day find the beast beneath.
