He could have dreamed up a thousand excuses for why he had left, but the reason was simple: Rusalka had been as unstable as Stormrift, and he sought stability. Tartok provided that, so he had returned to it. Not upset with Rusalka, but missing Raleska all the same. He hadn't the heart to tell her he was leaving, so he had left without any word at all. It was painful, but he'd done it all the same. His Tartok brothers and sisters insisted that the pain would go away, that he would forget about her, that she would fade into a distant memory, but none of that happened.

Then, one night, his mother approached him and told him that he had found his aokkatti in Raleska. And like that, Kaertok realized what she truly meant to him. They had not completed the blood-bound ritual, but it was clear what he must do. He must find her. He must explain to her all that he felt.

Coming back to the sound, the familiar landscapes, was so strange. Not only that, but Rusalka was gone. Raleska was nowhere to be found.
