@Xizur maybe?

Part of him regretted leaving Easthollow after Valette had taken him in. He had promised to make it worth her trouble and what had he done? He had abandoned the pack without much more than a goodbye. On the other hand it had been too painful for him to surround himself by memories that only he couldn't recall. The way people looked at him like they saw a completely different person made his skin crawl. Keeping that in mind he had begun to put effort into the pack that he had pledged himself to for his sister. Dawn had asked him to come with her, to have a second shot at life. The offer was too good not to accept and here he was, on his way to investigate the sound of honking around the stream.

Hiding a distance away he crouched low to the ground and stared at the familiar birds swimming in the water and flocked in a group on the shore. Geese, large birds with powerful wings and a painful bite but a lot of meat on them. Not to mention the feathers would make good additions to the bedding for any of the females who would be pregnant. He lay low for the moment, holding still to minimize the risk of being seen or the breeze catching his scent and carrying it to the birds.
The sound of splashing draws the youth to the stream but it is the sight of the greyscale stranger, low and barely visible against the snowy backdrop, that makes him stay. He takes a wide loop round the gathering of geese until he is near the other, a low chuff breaking the silence between them.

His attention briefly turns to face the group of waterfowl before snapping back towards the older man, sea salt eyes eager to join in the assumed hunt.
Everything had happened in such a blur. That fateful meeting with Bheyida atop the mountain had swung her life in a new direction. She no longer had to worry about being homeless, of scrounging for food, or seeking shelter from the cold. Thanks to the dark woman's kindness, Chai had a home again.

But it was daunting. She recalled her days in Kaistleoki and how she never managed to fully integrate herself. Apprehension clawed at her gut, making her stricken with the fear that the same would happen here, too. Although she had now had a place to rest her head at night, Chai still had a long road of recovery ahead. Her slightly sunken in eyes betrayed her emotional turmoil. Her skinny frame belying her hardship over the recent months, with prey so scarce. The sound of flapping wings and the disturbance of water was enough to rouse her from her hiding place amongst the trees lining the stream. Silently, she flitted into view, opposite of her new pack mates, the icy water wedging their would be prey between the trio.
His gaze didn't leave the birds until he smelled the scent of a packmate and turned just as the young man chuffed to announce his presence. Silently Sunny greeted the male with a nod and a friendly wag edging closer so he could speak before the thin, quick moving figure of a she wolf came into view and he sighed his smile growing. The hunt would be so much easier now that the three of them could work together. He made a soft sound in his throat to get her attention and then looked to the boy "First off, I'm Sunny. Nice to meet y'all" his voice was hushed so that he didn't startle the geese as he greeted his new packmates in a friendly manner. Motioning to their prey he got down to business "Geese have big, strong wings and a nasty bite. They can move much faster than you'd expect. I'm thinking if one of us comes in from the right, one from the left and then one from the center we'll have em trapped. I'm sure we can get them before they hit the water" he wasn't sure how much they knew about birds or even how he knew so much but he blamed it on instinct. Perhaps later he would find out that he'd always been a promising hunter as the Morningside family all were.
