The sun's fingers were just barely tickling the horizon by the time Percy made it to the edge of the forest. With winter in full swing, he'd much prefer to bed down well before the frigid night set in than freeze his butt off travelling some more. Not to mention he didn't really have a destination in mind either... ahh well.
A few minutes later found the inky boy at the mouth of an abandoned fox den, backgrounded by the sharp yowls of those who made these shadowy woodlands their home. Though eerie, they fell on deaf ears as he began to nose at the loose earth and clumps of soggy snow. It wouldn't take long for it to be cozy for sure.
So busy with his nose to the ground, it was all Percy could do to leap up with a startled yelp and a flurry of paws as there was movement, a flash of red, a glint of yellow teeth. What the heck?? So much for being abandoned??
