She'd told them she was a midwife, or at least experienced enough to be of use. That was probably the only reason they'd accepted her among them. In the past week or so since her indoctrination Jocasta had seen very little of the pack's territory, and so now as she roamed through the trees scouring for signs of the would-be mothers or anything herbal that might help them, she was mostly lost. They were nowhere to be found - and unknown to her, both mothers had borne their children while she had been off galavanting to nearby areas. No wonder she could not find the dark woman, nor the stoic girl, as they were both sequestered somewhere well hidden.

It gave Jocasta more time to acclimatize to the territory. She was thankful for the shifting of the season more than anything else; the snow had begun to melt days ago and now there were fresh shoots of all sorts prickling at the soil. As she moved among these, sniffing or snapping or, occasioally, gathering - she felt more at peace. The nagging of an internal monologue told her, 'What are you even doing here?' and, 'You don't know shit about any of this.' But she refused to heed that voice, and kept focused on the sprouting plants around her. One of them might prove useful some day.
She could never tell when the pups were awake or asleep. Only when they nursed and whined did she know. Or when she decided to leave the den they would whine to show they were awake. As she arosed the female pup had been crying but settled when she inched her way towards her brother.

She saw the new girl scouting the trees and she gave a low chuff as she did a small stretch. The raven hated the motherhood portion of this whole ideal.
