for @Yami

aware that traveling so frequently out of moonspear's borders on her own might very well bring with it repercussions, praimfaya does so cautiously. her need really isn't that important; certainly not important enough to disregard hydra's commands entirely but she slips out all the same. though she understands the order is for good reason, for safety there is, perhaps, a part of praimfaya that cannot shed that which of her that is commander though it holds no weight in moonspear.

still, she is vigilant and aware as she stretches her legs further than she's gone in some time. she reaches the meadow of wild berries; the almost sickeningly sweet scent that permeates the air even though nothing has bloomed yet. as she moves, she is careful to avoid stepping on the buds of blooms yet to fully sprout from the earth; giving pause to examine a blackberry bush; spindly and brown with small sprouts of pastel green upon it.

a good sign that spring was upon them despite the patchy snow that plagues the partially-cloudy morning.
Yami was getting super fucking irritated with herself. She'd been feeling restless the past couple of days. Agitated. Like her skin didn't quite fit her anymore and she wanted to tear it off of herself. It was only a minor nagging at that point, but Yami had always been rather dramatic and she had very little tolerance for discomfort. She may have rejected being a princess of Moonspear, but she certainly still behaved and thought of herself as royalty.

For whatever stupid reason, she always found herself thinking of her ex-family in times like these. There was no possible way they could be blamed for her annoyance, but they had earned the rank of permanent scapegoats in her mind. It definitely had nothing to do with different feelings of the more wholesome sort. She didn't wonder about them except to hope that they were miserable without her. She didn't hope they'd realized they were a bunch of self-important jerks and were sorry for how they'd made her feel. She didn't miss them.

Yami frowned at the peak that reached skyward above the far horizon. She was highly displeased with her unruly thoughts that day, but no one had to know she was allowing them to pollute her mind. As the years went by, she was rather unhappy to find herself more capable of thinking of the good times. The nice moments. Charon showing her the stars. Amekaze teaching her how to hunt. Playing tricks on her brothers. Playing pretend with Yama and dreaming of how the two of them would one day become just like their older sisters.

She hated thinking about those things. They threatened to burst the illusion that it was her family that had wronged her. They too heavily suggested that maybe she had been selfish. Maybe she had been wrong.

Okay, too much. Yami shook her head and stood, rejecting that train of thought. She mastered her thoughts and scanned around for something else to focus on. Fortunately, she spotted such a distraction rather promptly in the form of a while wolf winding her way through the blossoms just ahead. Yami lifted her chin and sounded a short howl to call attention before cantering forward to meet her.
after her examination of the blackberry bush is through, praimfaya starts down the trail of her choosing again; careful to avoid the scrape of the reaching limbs of the bushes that would soon bear fruit, the soft snow crunching beneath each step she takes. it leaves a light dusting of white upon the meadow that makes praimfaya miss warmer weather. she is ready for spring ...for summer. for the promise of what will come.

the short howl sounds, immediately derailing the train of thought that praimfaya has allowed herself to get caught on; capturing the commander's attention. her footsteps falter to a halt and her head swings 'round to glance over her shoulder at the woman who trudges thru snow dusted meadow towards her. there is no recognition for the woman as the commander turns to face her, frostbound gaze careful.

was this one of the wolfeaters? it cannot be ruled out, praimfaya knows.

hei, wanheda greets the stranger with a slight lift of her chin; a subtle warning that while her company is presently welcome some distance should remain between them.
The stranger stopped promptly, giving Yami some time to sidle up to her. She saw the warning in the posturing, but brushed it aside. She wasn't planning to get that close anyway. There was something regal about the stranger in spite of her apparent youth. Yami was intrigued. Sort of. Okay not really, but she needed a distraction so she forced it.

"Hi," Yami greeted with a smile, hesitating only briefly at the odd way the girl had said the word herself, "I've not seen you this way before. You a pack wolf?" Not that Yami knew everyone who wandered the wilds as a lone wolf, but most she'd come across (whether she'd engaged in a conversation or not) were less... distinct. Plus, the comment made her sound popular and knowledgeable. She liked that.
the other woman replies back in common; unsurprising to the commander who has grown up here and knows very few speak trigedasleng within these wilds. still, there is a very pigheaded side of her that entirely refuses to bow to the most common language shared between the wolves here. trigedasleng is just as much apart of her as her heart is. to be fair, the wilds are very vast. praimfaya points out with soft amusement dancing upon her lips and lacing in her tone ...and the most remarkable thing about praimfaya's appearance was the smudges of black beneath her eyes and now, she supposes, the kill marks on her left shoulder. aside from that, there are plenty of pale wolves ranging from her platinum silver to swandown white.

yes, praimfaya supplies her response within its simplest form. are you? the commander inquires, figuring it is only fair that the question be returned.
"Not too vast for me," Yami answered with a cocky smirk. She had been born with more confidence than she knew what to do with, something that time and experience had robbed her of in many ways. But in these ways, the ways that ultimately made very little difference, she held tight to it.

"Yes," Yami replied, "A small one. There's only three of us at the moment, but we're looking to expand. No chance you aren't a fan of your current pack, eh?"
