Raleska was gone.  Just as Reyes... just as all of them.  At first Rosalyn was furious.  Ungrateful, idiotic.... she cursed the girl.  But then, as it settled in, she was bereft.  The entire thing had cut deeply.  She'd thought the girl viewed in her at least a mentor worthy of trust, as much as she'd seen in Raleska a daughter.  But through all of this, she'd stood sidelined, avoided in both advice and confidence.  And now she was gone.

Her sides had begun their subtle curving, and the illness of before left no doubt.  Rosalyn stared distantly at her russet fur as she lay in the late afternoon sun.

Not worthy of them, perhaps.  But all she could do was her best.  She'd fall short as many times as it took, but she'd never stop trying.
