Caerus sat in the rendezvous area, watching his surroundings with a child's curiosity. Birds, flowers, grasses- all things that were familiar to him by now, though the color and noise held his interest. Soon, though, he spotted something strange and unfamiliar. It was green, slick-looking, with big dark eyes and bent legs. It hopped about an inch and halted, releasing a strange croak. That was the most interesting creature of all! He spied on it as it sat still like a statue, curious of its story- and whether it could be eaten.
Vallkyrie was merely strolling through the territory of her home, making way to poke her muzzle into each of the caches to see which needed filling and which needed anything disposed of. Luckily, it seemed no food was going to waste and so she trotted off, making way to the next.

Its here she spotted the little splotchy pup, Caerus, the first and eldest of their group. Though a number of times before when he was younger, Kyr would gift his mother something to eat at the mouth of their den, Vallkyrie never exactly had met the child face to face. Hey there. She spoke, taking a few steps closer to notice the child's attention drawn to a small, brightly greened frog. Hungry?
At the sound of a voice, he whirled around to find... Lenny? She looked just like the girl who'd met him when he was real little, until he noticed the color of her eyes. Pretty strange... could adult's eyes change color like his would, he womdered? hey der, He greeted in return, and at her question, he nodded excitedly. hungy... yea, i'm hungy, He decided. you hab food fo' me? He wondered, attention momentarily off of the frog.
His attention moved from the frog and onto her and her black tail waved in response, especially seeing as he mimicked her greeting with a puppy's slur. Not with me, no. She shook her head. She had not even but a little bit earlier herself and this had nothing in her gut to offer the toddler. But I can show you how to find food, for when your hungry.

Already nearly three months, the pup had grown quite a bit and was able to navigate around the territory at will. If he could follow the adults on patrols and small hunts, surely he could take advantage of the caches. Do you know what a 'cache' is?
Not with me, no.

His posture dropped slightly, saddened by the idea that food would not be in front of him immediately. But at the prospect that she might teach him, his ears perked, expression brightening again. Caerus enjoyed food, and enjoyed learning how to get it just as much, despite the irritation of having to have patience. Her first question was answered proudly: yeah, simmig tell me das where we put the food. Caerus recited, tail wagging behind him.
Yes, that is correct. She spoke with a nodding of her skull. Simmik often checks the caches and gets rid of any food gone bad if I've not done so already. I'm the one who fills them up with new food. She explained. Of course, certainly some of the other members did so in their spare time, especially if they had leftovers from a kill they made themselves. Mal she knew worked on watching the herds often in the territory whilst Kyr's attention lay beyond mostly in the open fields.

Come on, I can show you one. She spoke, taking a few bounding strides and would make sure the pup was following along before continuing. I had made one close to your den, so you and your mother needn't go far. Smiling to the little patchy youth, she lowers her nose to nudge it along the side of a fallen long. Hidden underneath was bits and strips of meat looked to be from a hare.
Oh, so this was the food provider! Caerus was quiet, but he was nearly emitting light with his beaming grin at her when she explained she filled the caches. She invited him to follow, and the boy bounded eagerly after her, hanging to her side. mm, you mean my da'! Caerus corrected her lightheartedly. When they arrived his eyes widened at the fresh meat, and the pup unintentionally licked his lips. omigosh, it looks so goooood~ He giggled. can i have some ride now?
Ah, yes, your 'dad'. She spoke, smile on her lips. It would seem as though the woman was rather...manly if you will, but Kyr did not bother to explain to the child that it was impossible for a male to carry pups, having no womb of their own, now the right parts to spit one out when it was time. An explanation she definitely would not be giving.

Of course you can, that's why its here after all. She spoke and sat down, allowing the pup the room to dig in. Maybe when your ready one day, I can teach you how to hunt yourself? There are all kinds of prey to eat, you might have a favorite you havent even tried yet! She laughs a little, tail swishing along the ground behind her.
Caerus began to dig into the nest as soon as she gave permission. She didn't need to tell him twice. The suggestion that she coukd teach him hunting someday caused him to glance up in surprise while still chewing, tail beating the air. i'd wike dat, He mumbled through a bite, and swallowed. whad's yo' fave-ritt? He realized he didn't even know all the animals yet- how exciting!
Vallkyrie grins, content with watching the child eat as she kept guard, though doubted much harm would come to the pup within their borders. Kyr still remained alert while he was under her charge. Hmmm... She pondered his question. I like rabbit and deer most, which happen to be most common. Then she thought, Salmon is a fish, very good too. And caribou, but I've not seen any in these lands. Perhaps northeast in the Taiga, but it was unlikely she would ever go there.
Rabbit, deer, fish, he'd heard of these. Salmon, and caribou- now those were words new to him, and his eyes lit up with wonder as he gulped down a bite. wow! whazza caribou? there's more den i realized, He giggled. Even deer was something that had only been described to him; he had never glimpsed such a creature yet, and could only imagine it.
Figured we could go ahead and wrap this up since its REALLY OLD.

A carribou is a type of deer. She went onto explain though didn’t allow herself to get too specific. Its got a fluffy white neck and very big antlers. It usually lives where it is colder. She explained to the youth, watching him as he worked on the meat stored away in the cache.

Lifting up, Vallkyrie stretched out her legs and neck. I should probably get back to it. Maybe ill bring you some deer tonight, hu?” She smiles to the boy, waiting out anything he might add before she made way.
LOL my fault. sounds good! wrapping here : )

Caribou, a type of deer. Well, deer, he was sure he'd heard of that! That made it easier to imagine, though imagining cold places was harder. He had yet to see snow. The woman began to dismiss herself, but he just nodded with a wide grin. dank you!! He cheered with a wagging tail, dreaming of juicy deer meat as they went on their separate ways.
