The day had settled, hot and blazing, shinning brightly onto her dark fur. She had a humorous thought of perhaps she should've stayed during the night until winter came, as the Desdemona nearly forgotten how unbearable it can be during the warmer seasons. Especially those who carried darker pelts, which was majority of the Ostrega's as well.

The guard laid in a shade, down onto her paws with closed eyes. A minor rest, she thought to take.
The sun could make things unbearably hot, and it was why Hydra was most active at night. She was eager for falls return, and winter with it. Though the hunting might be harder then, the days and nights were far more tolerable. As it was, she primarily was active throughout the night. With children though, she had to adjust to their schedules to be sure there was always some eye on them. She knew now that there was, and stole away for a quick nap before a patrol herself.

There was a mound up ahead, and Hydra approached slowly with her head low to the ground. Sniffing, she deduced it was her subordinate, but Hydra had no intent or design to rouse her. Instead, Hydra pawed at the earth and circled thrice before she lay for a moment. Too warm for this position, the matriarch shifted to stretch out on her side. One ear pressed flush against the earth and the other twitching to regard the sounds of their surroundings, Hydra yawned and closed her eyes for an afternoon siesta.
Desdemona rose her head, eyes meeting the body of the Queen, who stretched nearby. Her own pelt while dark, was still lighter to the inky blackness Hydra had, and wondered how she truly faired in this weather. Especially so when there almost seemed to be no escape, even with shade the humidity haunted them.

"Hydra," she called out, a crackling feeling of discomfort as she addressed the Alpha by a casual name, "would you like to join me in the shade?" The spider-like guard moved over to show there was space for more.
An ear flicked as Desdemona spoke with her; while most of her was in a patch of shade, it was true that not all of her was. So at the others invitation, Hydra rose and answered mutely by settling alongside her subordinate, stretching and loosing a yawn as she slid to her belly. Now, her chin settled primly along one foreleg as her eyes fluttered to a close. Despite that, she remained aware; Hydra had long grown used to sleeping with one eye open, but was pleased to have a moments rest alongside someone she trusted.

This weather, the Ostrega drawled, is intolerable. She huffed, then, though the edge of her lip lifted in a little grin. For the complaint, Hydra was grateful still. The higher reaches of the mountain provided cooler locales to loiter, but to climb in the heat of the day sounded far from ideal. Resting in the shade sounded like a good reprieve, here and now.
Desdemona nodded, "we can only hope for some rain," not realizing on later months, she was wishing a death-sentence for the wilds. Though for those, especially themselves, the fact of straight-up son was simply boiling hot. Their dark fur attracted the son far more then anyone else, and while her own was not completely black, she still suffered. The guard could only imagine what Hydra, who was inky-black, how she might feel.

"Fall will be a bliss," she didn't like winter due to how hard it was to hunt, but fall, was always welcomed. Cooling to the touch, but the prey were getting ready to hibernate, but not yet hiding. The favorite, of seasons.
Hydra preserved energy through silence. She agreed with Desdemona, though; rain would be nice. Fall, though, she looked forward to. Winter too, and then Spring. Anything was preferable to Summer and its damned heat. It will, she concurs at least, shifting her body some to get more comfortable. Tired as she was, she exhaled as she began to doze, some... though the matriarch was ever one to sleep with one eye open. Now and then, her ear would twitch—she listened to the sounds surrounding them still.
last post for i!

The two dark warriors hung in the shade, pleasantly enjoying the small comfort they could get from the season.  Desdemona spread her legs a bit more to comfort herself, and lowered her own head upon her paws. Like the Alpha, she was one who kept alertness even in sleep, and eyes may be closed, but her ears stood tall with an alarm constantly waiting.

It was a pleasant day.
