what’s that? huojin asked @Aiolos. he was staring upward, toward the canopy above them. the strange arrangement of branches and leaves fascinated him; why did it keep some of the water out, but let some of it in? on pride rock, there wouldn’t have been any such hiding from the storm.
Those are δέντρα. Trees. He speaks as he lifts his head up to the thick canopy above much as his son did. We have them at Yuelong, more in the central area of home. He probably had not been, at least not that Aiolos knew, for he kept mostly close still to his mother's side at the beachside. But not like this. Not this large, this many. Here, they block out the skies and drink the rain.
huojin thought that the trees must be very thirsty to drink all of that rain. had it been a while since their last drink?

i like big trees, he explained to his father, ’cause we can hide. sometimes, the storms could be a bit overwhelming — even for huojin.

he started walking again, then asked, what we gonna do today?
That's why we come here during the storms. To wait until the storms pass. Water is good but too much can be dangerous. He spoke and like his son, began up on their walk once more.

We scout today. Do you know what that is? He said as he guided the sun and sand youth towards the outskirts of the forestry.
aiolos agreed: sometimes, water sucked. the lionet felt reassured in confirming that ruò was, in fact, crazy, and that he’d been right along! he kept this silent victory to himself, not wanting his father to ruin that good feeling.

they were.. scouting? yeah, no, huojin had no clue what that meant.
To scout, is to search for someone or something and to gather information. I am a Scout for the pack. He explained, urging Huojin towards the treeline of the forest, where the trees began to disperse and before them lay the vast open fields from which they had traveled from their island to get here.

At home scouts keep a look out along the edges of the territory for intruders, visitors or even food that the hunters can track down. Older, stronger, he made sure to add so Huojin didnt get any wise ideas, scouts explore. They go out of the pack to talk to allies, deliver messages, all kinds of things.
aiolos didn’t have to worry about any mischief from his son. huojin was happy to stay here in the territory, and wouldn’t have thought to leave had his father not brought up the idea.

from what he’d gathered from aiolos’s explanation was that scouting was pretty boring anyway. too late to back out?

the lionet nodded his head to show that he understood, then awaited further instruction.
Figure we could fade this since I know your taking a break.

At the edges of the forest Aiolos would pause, muzzle lifting to the winds to take a deep sniff of the dewy air. He didnt see nor smell any strangers near so felt the situation at the borders was safe for his son.

Wanna race? He asked, his fiery eyes turning back to his son and tail waving. See over there by that rock? First one there gets a big, fat fish. He spoke with a laugh and began 'running' off the moment his son took pace.
