Bridget nodded with a smile, and while she felt the competitive heat rise in her, it was the pleasure of a challenge in friendship and different from the rivalries she'd had in times past.
It helped her to focus and to improve, both aspects in which she relished such competitions when hunting. And both aspects where she needed all the help she could get when Teya was nearby.
Her forelegs were numbing in the icy water by the time a second fish made an appearance. It was larger than the first, and as soon as she lunged, Bridget knew it was hers. Her teeth closed with satisfaction and set deep, and she lifted her head high with the creature struggling and wrenching itself within her muzzle. She managed to keep it clenched within her grasp, though, until she'd made it to shore.
Not a good day to be this fish, either,she replied, planting a paw on it and waiting for it to cease some of its movements. She didn't want it to disappear back into the water when she left it unattended.
