for @Taikon <3
set for late evening, clear, 0F

She was restless and sleep seemed unlikely any time soon. So she would spend her time patrolling as she usually did, being a creature of habit. But she had no intention of doing it alone. Now that Taikon was able to get out of the den and move around, she was looking forward to having one of their long conversations. She had missed that the most.

Taktuq's disappearance had weighed heavily on her conscience. She wasn't sure what had caused her niece to leave, but she could only hope that she was safe. With the storms and then Taikon being sick, she hadn't had much time for scouring the wilds for her, and any time she had managed a short scouting trip, she had found no sign of her. She dreaded the day she would have to tell Sia his daughter had disappeared yet again.

No matter how many nights she spent wandering through the forest, it never ceased to make her feel uncomfortable. It was too dark to see very far around her, and the trees rustled strangely above as if something moved through them and followed her as she tracked Taikon. She tried to ignore it, instead focusing on finding the scent she knew better than any of the others scattered around the territory.
-hoards threads-

Taktuq worried him. He'd gone all the way to Easthollow and back just to assure her father and aunt that she was safe, and now he had no idea if she was or not. He had tried his best to track her, but in his condition, it was often the case that he couldn't expend too much energy without feeling generally exhausted. There was his poor weight pressing against every action he took, but the brain fog was far, far worse. He couldn't remember things he had been doing mere moments before. Sometimes, he would wander to an area of the Woods and find that he didn't know exactly why he was there.
Time would tell if his memory and general demeanour improved. Takiyok, as always, was as solid a rock as ever. Though the den was one body short, Takiyok made sure to make the most of the time they spent together. He liked waking to her warm self, even though he was woken often from bad dreams and strange calls in the night.
As he wandered that night, Takiyok found him up to nothing. Taki, he smiled, always pleased to see her. He hadn't gotten tired yet of greeting her warmly, and so he did, pushing his nose into her neck for a moment. She was a welcome presence in this dark forest. He still hadn't been able to capture anything successfully and was eating from the caches and whatever she caught. He felt useless, but he was ready to be useful.
:D

It didn't take her long to find him, and he greeted her with words and with affection—both of which she had missed and greedily welcomed. She leaned into his touch, and small smile curving her lips. Taikon, she offered in return before carefully nuzzling into her spot for a few moments, hoping it didn't cause him any discomfort; she had missed her spot too.

She was quiet a moment as they walked, the forest seeming less dark now that he was here. How are you? she asked. She knew he had been struggling. She woke too when he had his nightmares. She had noticed the difference in his mood and memory; she hoped it was all temporary and would heal with time. She was happy to have him here, regardless. He was here and he was alive—they could figure out the rest.
Somehow I didn't see this >:[

It did cause discomfort as she nuzzled him, but he swallowed the stiffness and let it happen anyway. The warmth itself felt nice. He just wished he could hold her fully. He could feel himself wanting to in his heart, but things in his body just weren't behaving the way he needed them to.
As they moved on, she asked how he was, and he was hesitant to say his truth. She... knew his truth. But honesty was something that had always been important to him. Shit, he answered, knowing it wasn't a good answer. But I'll be fine. I just wish bad things would stop following me around, and hurting you. Taktuq.. I just hope she comes back.
