Hunt thread - perhaps someone from Moonglow?
Early Morning, Light Rain, 46°F

A light drizzle of rain pitter-pattered against the dense canopy of pines, turning the ground below dark and damp with each raindrop that tumbled down from the evergreen heights. One such raindrop fell to land directly on Felhő's nose as she stalked through the forest, causing her to falter momentarily as it took her by surprise.
Pale ears pressed back against her head, expressing her mild discomfort for a second, before the wolf swept it away with a calculated lick of her salmon-pink tongue. Shaking her fur, she pressed the whole ordeal to the back of her mind, and pricked her ears forwards again as she focused back on following the scent trail left behind by a resident herd of deer.
She had not been born a great hunter for matters like these. To do the chase required great effort on her lumbering part. Yet she grew hungrier by each passing day. The knowledge that she would have to catch something soon plagued her.

Which had left her to decide to go big. The muddied scent of deer trailed the woods. A good sign for her hunger pains. There was something else too. Something more akin to herself, but was that actually a fresh scent? Did she have competition?

As she followed along the trail, it seemed so. Especially as it happened she was following directly behind them on a course the other had already set. Shilloh had no doubt that soon enough she would be behind them.

Perhaps she could convince them into sharing spoils.
Dark nose hovered just above the damp ground as Felhő sought out the fresh scent trail. Evidence of recently disturbed soil made the task easier, and after following it for a few metres, faint hoof prints began to appear beneath the dappled morning light.
The female would have to move quickly, as the rain would soon destroy the evidence. Slinking into a steady trot, Felhő quickened her pace, weaving her way through the towering pine trees in search of the deer heard.
A sudden change in wind direction brought another scent to her nose, causing the pale wolf to steal a glance behind her in search of company. A large tawny figure caught her maroon gaze, following after her in the distance. Felhő slowed, turning away from the trail to face the other wolf, tail swaying neutrally as she waited a moment to see if they would approach her.
Ah, they were at a crossroads it seemed. Having to encounter each other before they could both (perhaps, both, maybe only one) encounter what they truly wished to have. It seemed they were in the same boat as well. Two loners vying for a big prize. At least this woman seemed to be more of a huntress than Shilloh.

Servus, A soft whisper and polite nod of her head as she neared the other. No need to talk loud and startle the herd that seemed to be nearer by the moment. Meanwhile her own tail swished in a slow, small manner as a sign of friendliness. Do you hunt? She asked in an accented voice, a slight tilt of her narrow head.
Felhő remained still as the other female caught up to her, her posture neutral for the moment. The greeting whispered toward her caused a single ear to flick back, unsure of the word's meaning. Though she mimicked the polite nod that had been offered and gave a slow blink of her deep maroon eyes in acknowledgment.
"I hunt." Felhő parroted in reply, the language feeling momentarily awkward on her tongue. "You join?" She asked, head tilting in question. "I track deer, this way." She said, shifting her body to face back towards the scent trail she had been following. It would be beneficial to have a hunting partner, but Felhő would have to see if the stranger was willing to join her.
It seemed Shilloh did not even need to push her away into this affair. She was being invited in as the other woman gestured to where the deer’s trail seemed to take.

Ja, She offered with another gentle nod. Ready to follow along with the huntress. Perhaps with the two of them their chances for a large meal had just risen. That was, if they worked well together.
Pleased with the female's confirmation to join the hunt, Felhő immediately set about following after the trail again. The scent was still fresh despite the light drizzle of rain, leading the wolf to believe that the deer would be close.
Weaving through the pine trees, she silently considered potential hunting strategies now that she had the larger female in tow. Presumably the tawny wolf harnessed more strength than herself, something which Felhő would need to use to their advantage.
As the scent of the herd grew more pungent, Felhő kept a keen eye out for any movement through the curtain of trees and rain. Ahead a small herd, no more than five does guarded by a single stag, had settled down peacefully beneath the canopy of a large pine tree to keep dry.
The wolf slowed, using the cover of dense forest foliage to remain unseen for the moment. Turning to her new hunting companion, she suggested a plan. "I chase, find weak target. You kill." She waited for the female to confirm she agreed before breaking her cover and spooking the herd.
It was a solid plan. The other woman would chase and Shilloh would kill. It was a plan that made far more sense than either of them going to it alone. Her nodded to confirm her understanding and agreement with the plan in motion.

Slowly and carefully she would move somewhere where she would have a chance to perform a proper take down. She needed to be prepared to keep up when the time came for her to act. Regardless of if it could be seen or not, her head nodded in a simple motion.

Go.
A nod was offered to her, letting Felhő know that her hunting companion was happy with her role. That confirmation was all the arctic wolf needed before she sprung into action.
Leaping out from the cover of the dense forest foliage, Felhő's presence instantly startled the small herd of deer and set them fleeing. The female was quick to follow after them, racing forwards through the maze of trees as she tried to single out a weaker, slower target. She spotted one female who was not as fast as the others, an older doe, who was left trailing a few metres behind the main group. Now singled out, Felhő made a direct line for it, ignoring the other deer which splintered off in different directions through the forest.
Although the old doe was slow, it still put up a fight. Not willing to give up so easily, the large ungulate kept on running. It swerved and darted through the tall pine trees trying to lose the wolf at its heels, but Felhő was just as determined to take it down. It would be a battle of stamina between predator and prey. Felhő was just waiting for the moment when the doe began to tire. It was then that her new companion would be needed to take it down.
The huntress pushed them forward and Shilloh moved along. Ready to strike when the moment was true. Their target was old and despite being spirited, there was no chance it lasted long. Surely not with the weight of Shilloh and the chase of the huntress.

So when the old doe weaved towards her through the trees, she made a move. Teeth aimed for the neck of it. Even if she could not crush, perhaps she could land enough repeated bites to cause serious damage. Enough blood loss was all they needed for a win.

Strike. Strike. Strike. Puncture of bites on the doe's neck and shoulder that stained both Shilloh and the prey in the process.
