The alpha departed from her dark woods for the moment, wincing at the bright light which presented a startling contrast to the eternal night of Blackfeather Woods. Taking a moment to let her eyes adjust, Meldresi moved swiftly north, to the creek. Whenever she departed the Woods it was usually to find something, be it a herd or herbs. This time it was for the latter, searching for watercress and other river dwelling plants not to be found in the swamp at the eastern edge of the dark woods.
Meldresi reached the river in due time, sniffing the water's edge to search for the herbs she desired. Her quest to find herbs served dual purposes, not only to find herbs she needed now, but for sources she could use later, especially with winter coming soon.
